So we definitely should have enough people that are dedicated to this team's first season. 3 new guys showed up today, Ozzie, Nick H. and Chuck R. and Mike D. confirmed that he still wants to play. This means our roster could roughly look something like this:

Steve D.
AJ D.
Jeff E.
Jack G.
Greg A.
Mike M.
Jesse J.
Paul H.
Ozzie N.
Chuck R.
Mike D.
Dewey
Nick H.

I have not seen or spoken with Paul or Dewey, but word was they are both definites?? Am I leaving anyone out that should be a definite and is committed to playing? Do we need to have a tryout for all of the spots except the captain, or just the final few spots that were not filled as of this week? Or...something entirely different than I have mentioned?

My vote is for Steve to captain seeing as how he arranged everything so far for Team West Thompson.

Bottom line is we definitely have enough for a team, which is great. So, let's finalize this roster and start preparing for our first match!

You forgot Chris Johnson. He hasn't officially bailed. He just hasn't been there for the last meet.

Dewey was at the first WT meet a few weeks ago. He just doesnt have a car, so b/c I didnt go today he didnt have a ride.

Either way I'm glad lots of people are showing interest. I'm glad Mike D. showed. He was one of my Hodges recruits.

Right off the bat, will say that the first weekend in October is OUT.

My first wedding anniversary, and a couple other players not available.

Also, last weekend is probably out. NEFA Finals in Connecticut.

Lets shoot for sundays if possible, and if you can nab 12 we'll bring EVERYONE!

LETS GET IT ON.

11,12,18,19.

Those look like the choices.

Preferably a Sunday.

First weekend is no good anyways b/c of the Tournament of the Damned, which takes place at Thompson one day and I'm assuming a good deal of our players will be in.

We should also get a couple trash barrels out there, hard to believe there aren't any now. I can do any time basically...just not Sunday cuz Maple Hill Red White n Blue...

I think I can make it Saturday, but later in the day. Like after 12.

We should also bring a steel rake and try to pull some of that stone dust back into the boxes until we get more and fix them.

Word. I've got a steel rake I can bring as well. And some beers...Should we say around 2pm so we have enough time for a team practice afterwards? From the looks of that Burgess roster  , we better get our sh*t together and step up our games to pro level in the next month or so...I've got faith!

I honestly hope you don't really think that I believe you all suck. Someone's gotta do the smack talking. But I do think you are really underestimating us.

2pm sounds good good, Greg. I'll try to get the word out to anyone who doesnt post, like Dewey and Mike D.

Where has Steve been? Hasn't been on the board in over a week.

Dakai is M.I.A. I dunno...Looking at the month of October, I know that the weekend of 18th and 19th is the only weekend I could make for this team challenge contest. Tournaments and a wedding take up the other weekends. Any conflicts with the 18th or 19th of October from anyone reading this?

Also a note to whoever has not yet paid, please get your money to Steve. He was kind enough to front the money and get us paid on time. Its $20. Either bring it Saturday or drop by the pool store.

Sorry I missed Sunday, we had a major injury in the game, I spent my evening in the emergency room with a scared 11 year old kid.

Sat will be bad for me this week but we have the early game on Sunday so I can play Sun afternoon.

The roster...

1 Jeff E
2 Jack
3 Greg
4 Cheef
5 Jesse
6 Chris
7 Paul H
8 Dewey
9 Ozzie
10 Chuck
11 Mike D
12 Nick
13 Steve
14 AJ

That is two too many, how do we proceed?

Cut the roster to 12, and keep people for reserves for when people get hurt or move away.

Players that move, or get hurt, if they come back must replace the player that replaced them.

Players must compete in 3 challenges, (one round) to be eligible for Finals.

I'm glad to hear about the planned mini-work day on Saturday. I've already put all my eggs into the Maple Hill tourney on Sunday, so I can't make it on Sat., though.

About the roster, Kevin a.k.a. KAZ might want to be on the list. He played real well back at our meeting a few weeks ago.

Cutting the roster down to 12 is a good problem to have, but I don't have a good solution to the good problem. I would vote for having the newcomers duke it out for the final spots. Its not a perfect solution, but it acknowledges that some people have been laying the groundwork for the last month or so.

Playoff for the spots amongst players at the bottom of the roster, it's what many teams do to determine whom cuts the mustard.

12 players, no subing in and out. Unless a player gets hurt and cant play, or moves.

We're just doing a basic clean up, no construction, so I'd imagine there would be no problem with that.
