I seriously doubt that Cranberry, Maine or Wick need extra players to beat most teams.

Things like this should have been decided before the season began. It seems odd that changes to the format were not more clearly stated.

You take this way to seriously. It's a fun team challenge that takes place during the winter. You'd seriously rather have only 6 guys play, then have 12 guys play just because another team earned the opportunity to have 14 players able to play? That makes no sense to me. There should be a reward for being 1st as opposed to 8th, even if it is only having an extra player available or picking the course.

Also, changing things slightly during the season to make finals better is a good thing in my opinion. It'd be a little silly to have finals be a letdown due to overlooking something in the preseason.

Solbo and myself talked about this and I'm posting to get a general consensus, this isn't final or anything, but I think it's a good idea.

Places 1-4 get 14 players that play.
Places 5-8 get 12 players that play.

That's 104 golfers which would mean playing in 6somes if it's on one course, or 4somes if it's on two courses. Atleast top 8 scores count, but possibly top 10, and obviously 4 or 5 doubles scores and the singles scores would be double weighted again.

I like the idea of the top team picking the course. If it's tied let the captains of the team come to a decision amongst themselves, whether it's just agreeing on a course, playing for it, flipping a coin, cut cards etc. Although this year it can't be a teams home course that is in finals. Yeah Wick only got to play once, but that still doesn't change the fact that it's their home course. A home course is the course you are the most familiar with, not playing 2 times over the course of 6 months doesn't make a difference.

Lastly, NO COMPLAINING ABOUT DRIVING DISTANCE. Everyone knew when they signed up that'd this involves travelling. One team having to go a little farther than another is absolutely silly to complain about.

Sound good?

So is this a serious league or not?

You two keep jumping back and forth about it being a competitive league and wanting to win and rewarding the good players then go ahead and say its just a fun time when it suits your argument.

Pick a side for love of pete.

Final Word on Finals: Everything Todd said, Team(s) with the best record decide location of Finals. I dont care if you guys play for it, talk amongst yourselves, flip a coin, or rochambeaux for it.

Also. 10 Singles Scores will count and 5 Doubles scores will count.

In the grand scheme of things teams in the top half will get an extra doubles pairing and a couple more shots at singles players.

Like Todd said, this a "Fun, Winter Time, League" to keep us busy in the offseason. It's not for world domination etc... I dont see why all the complaining about even numbers and the such, teams at the top, that finish in the top deserve a slight advantage, they earned it.

hmmm.. very possible that the "Eastern" Division is going to get ALL 4 teams into the Finals.. for all those of you that said we were the "easier" division.

A suggestion for TC scheduling for next year...
Realistically the TC is gonna get bigger
b4 it gets smaller & we've already experienced
many conflicts with traditional off season events
such as Ice Bowls that r instrumental in giving
back 2 our communities and locl/nationL
organizations in need. How bout if we designate
one weekend a month for team challenges
so when people r scheduling non TC events
they will have three open weekends per month
rather than always having challenges to compete
against every weekend. The rosters r large enough
that conflicts will arise but every team should b able
to field da minimum.
So... Like the 3rd weekend of every month is TC.
Plus if dates r designated then when people r committing
2 play in da TC the dates would atleast be
Thoughts?

I dont know if this has been addressed or answered yet or not but I'll ask anyways.

Two B-pool teams make it finals and get to play in the A-pool next year based on what? Their finish in the A-pool finals? What happens if a A-pool team finishes last in finals? Do they move back to the B-pool next year?

Or is this all still up for discussion? Just curious.

The teams that are in the "A-pool" Finals are the teams that will make up the "A-Pool" NEXT year.

I like the thinking Jeff but I do not think that it will work. You could make a suggested date but the region that is now encompassed by the TC is waaaay to big to ask TD to schedule around TC dates, many of which are historical.Locking in a specific date also leaves inflexibility as far as rescheduling due to impassable weather conditions that occassionally pop up.

Match scheduling should continue to be left up to the captains who will hopefully be kind to the TDs in their region.

Right, and all the A-pool teams go to Finals correct? PLUS two teams from B-pool. So the A-Pool is ever growing by two teams a year by this formula.

Is there worry that the A-pool will become to big? Is there no way an A-pool team gets moved down to B-pool, by means of losing record or losing at Finals?

I'm just thinking ahead and am curious to what people think.

Cheef

2 come down to B pool
2 go up to A pool

That lasts for 1 year

repeat

This year Maple and one other team will come down
Captain and one other go up
