Tree and limb damage
To think that someone would damage a tree, without any regard to the tree, for the sake of a better shot, is beyond me. Even when I first started playing Disc golf I was more aware of hurting the trees than I was of a better shot, so I never pulled limbs off a tree. Not to say that when creating a course that some trees have to go and trimming needs to take place. But to bend a branch or just rip it off because you can't get a clear shot...that BullS_ _T!
I've heard it said that a new player may do this because they didn't know the rules, I say the rules are to be nice to trees, they supply us with our needed oxygen!
So if anyone reading this knows who tore up the trees by basket 3, please let them know what they did was hurtful to the trees but also against PDGA rules.
(Then there has been some talk that it may have been done with other motives, of which I have know idea. If it was, than I hope this was the effect you were looking for!)
I write this for awarenesss reasons, what was done could be considered vandalizism.
Everyone who enjoys Bellamy Park, please keep your eyes and ears open for this type of thing and spread the word that it isn't right!

Tearing up trees
It is unbelivable what some people will do to things that we all use, they act as though they are the only ones who use our parks and have every right to tear things up if it benifits them. I have seen this all to often in Michigan where I am from. World class courses like Cass Benton have been absolutley raveged by bands of boozed up kids. I am afraid that it is going to be part of the progress though that disc golf makes as it becomes more popular. More people play, more a-holes play, more things get destroyed. This is something that must be JUMPED on, if you see it say something. Most people, even young kids are ashamed when caught doing somthing they know is wrong. I hope that we can nip these problems in the bud and keep Belamy looking great.
There are some amazing things happening at Bellamy these days. The course is being improved by leaps and bounds. If you haven't played it in a while or ever I suggest checking it out. There are work days every Sunday at 10 if you want to help, I wish I could say I have been but I have not  . When I first played this course 4 or 5+ years ago it was an object course that was over grown. It has since, through the hard work and dedication of a small group of volunteers, turned into a course that is challenging and well laid out in its limited space. Check it out!

I played Bellamy Park last week. Loved the course, Nailed 4 birdys in a row. I played 20 courses on my Disc Golf Vacation-Bellamy Park was one of my favorites. Great baskets. Very fun layout. Loved the setting as well.
Dropped off 10 issues of Disc Golf Magazine for the locals.
Wish I was there today.

Played Bellamy this morning. A little confused about the closed bridge after Hole 1. Is there a new tee location or do people just stroll across the river after teeing off? Improvements are great, but when will they repair the flood damage on the bridge?
Lots of construction along the dirt road in the hole 3-5 area. Is the course really closed between 9-5 on weekdays all summer because of day camp?
Lost a red champion leopard near the river . . .

I was able to play this course last weekend and was thoroughly impressed. My Dad and brother had played it a couple years ago and said it is now a lot longer. Reminds me of a young borderlands. Lots of progress being made all over the course and those involved should be commended for their hard work. Awesome course and use of land, both nice short ace runs and longer holes that make you think. I look forward to playing it again and seeing it continue to develop.

Is there camping here? I can't find a number (# on courses is disconnected)
Anybody play it recently/anything I should look out for?
thanks.
And yes I am looking for camping areas near the NH seacoast/North Shore, thank you for asking, why do you know something I don't?

The course is in good shape. If you've never played there, ignore the map at the kiosk. There are 18 baskets, not less as the map shows. The biggest thing to look out for is the poision ivy.
There is no camping at Bellamy Park. If you want to find camping near by i'm sure the internet will help.
Also there are rarely any scorecards at the course. All holes are par 3 execpt #4, 5, 12,13,14,and 18.
Have fun!

Bellamy
This course has improved a lot over the last couple of years. There are tee boxes for each of the 18 baskets. Truly a technical course, big arms will be frustrated, because it isn't about throwing a mile, it's about throwing a very controlled game. The average score is around 55-58. My recent best game was a 52...only once!
For all who read this...check out Bellamy, you won't be disappointed!

Got to play about 13 holes; I had the kids w me and they were getting bitten by mosquitoes, so I cut it short. The course is definitely technical, a few open shots, but not a bad course at all. Love the river holes, they add a nice touch. Chainstars are very hard to see in the forest; my only suggestion to the locals I met there was to add bright ribbon to the poles for new players to see the pins. Other than that, great job!
Loved shooting over the river on 1, the open uphill bomb on 4, 18 was a nice long shot w a hidden pin, and the long split wood bridges were cool to cross. Kids loved the bottle caps decorating the benches; I said we could do that at home, but my wife just kind of looked at me.......
Will play again when we hit the beaches next year. --jimbo

I played this course two years ago and will be in the area tomorrow morning ish. Is there anything I should be aware of in terms of course changes like different pin placements or teepads. If there are any locals up for a round, i'd be happy to split a six pack if you'll show me around.

We now have alternate pin placements in for holes 1, 3, 7, 8, 13, and 14. Cement tee pads through hole 11. Also many new benches and trash receptacles. The course is playing great!
We still have some large trees down from the storms this spring. They really only get in the way of rollers or skip shots. If you haven't been here recently, please come and enjoy some FREE disc golf.

If you are in the area, we are doing random doubles on wed. evenings. 5:30 pm. $5 per person. Half the $ goes to payout, half to the course for installing the rest of the cement tee pads. We also do an optional $1 CTP.
Hope to see you there!
PM me if you would like more info.

Re: Bellamy Park Disc Golf ...dover, nh
Looks like my only tourney this year will be the NH States in Rindge. Pretty excited to play there. And with that being said, the only place to practice for Rindge, is Bellamy Park in Dover NH! It is awesome to be able to get out again and start playing a few rounds. (Been down most of the summer with 2 Tick borne Diseases.I travel all over New England so I really have no idea where I got the tick from. But always check yourself when you have been in tall grass and the woods. The dangerous ones are very small. okay enough of that!) Hope to get out and play in the doubles, looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!
See ya on the course!

We have 2 more cement tee pads in the ground! Tee's on hole 12 and 14 are now cement. If all goes according to plan, we will finish the rest of the pads this fall.
Hope to see you out there...

2 more cement pads are in the ground and hopefully dry in a few hours. Hole 17 and 18 are done. There are 4 more left to pour and we will have them done by winter or hopefully sooner. I'll keep you all posted on our progress.

Rob, I usually stop by Bellamy a couple of times every year in early August when I'm vacationing at Wells Beach. Each time I go there the place looks better. I can't wait to see it this year with concrete tee pads. Bellamy rocks!

Are there any leagues going on there this summer? I'll be in York in early August, just trying to plan. Gonna get to Bellamy for sure, it's too close to miss. If i go north it would be for Sabattus.

How do you think a 2 year old would fare walking that course with me? Or would you recommend not bring him...he usually travels well (actually he'll be 3 by then)
