Just a quick reminder, the first weekend in November has worked for teams in the past if they can't get an October date that works for both teams. I know Oct. is a busy month for some people.

I have been asked if a female can play for two teams, one in each pool.
I don't have a problem with it, but I want to make sure no one else does either.
Thoughts?

Does that not open the door for guys to do the same?

I'd say no for guys as there are so many.
Teams seem to be having trouble finding a woman to play is why they asked.

It is hard to believe that honestly. That is taking the easy way out. But with that said. Sure.

How is that hard to believe? You're area is like the disc golf mecca of New England. Not all courses have strong (or any) women players.

Maybe that's why it's hard for me to believe it.

if we do that then we should definitely make it a forfeited match if you do not have a female present .girls should play each other singles bolth rounds or captains can agree on having a mixed team .so if you don't have a girl on your roster at a challenge you automatically your down 3.

Idea...
It's more work yes, but more work towards creating a more professional league IMO...
Should there be a thread started once the season starts that tracks the number of players who've participated in a challenge for each team?
This way we can be assured that each team brings to finals only those players who have qualified. I feel like this was difficult to track in year's past, and was based on the good faith of teams/captains.
Tsall good either way, might be a little more work but might make it smoother as well..

I did a google spreadsheet last year and it worked pretty well except for captains not posting who played often enough. It's a pain in the ass to go through each teams matchups to see who played.
I will keep track of the A Pool if someone wants to keep track of the B Pool, that would be awesome.

you could make team spreadsheets.. home team brings the paperwork and the winner mails it.. it will cost a stamp if paper and envelopes are supplied.. just like my dart league

If you post your results I will keep a spreadsheet for the b pool.

i think it should be a forfeited match regardless of the jumping of teams.. if the roster spot is designated for a female then if they dont show a team goes down 3.. is that not a rule?

Wasn't last year but probably a good rule to adopt for this year. I vote in favor.. Hopefully the gal/lack of them dilemma is solved by team captains, otherwise probably have to scrap any penalty..

NASA will have 2 women on our roster this year to ensure we always have at least 1 woman present.
I suspect we'll often have 2 women at matches and would love to see some all women doubles matches.
Unfortunately only 1 can make our first match at Wick.

I am not in favor of this - even if you have a woman on your roster - that puts a lot of pressure for that woman to be at every match - not fair to them.

If a team ends up matching a woman player against a guy because a team failed to bring a woman, there needs to be some adjustment.
It's not fair to have the woman player sit just because the other team failed to bring a woman. And it's also not fair to have them play against a guy "straight up".
For those against forfeiting the individual match, what do you think is the right thing to do?

Forfeit is the only fair way to do it. It was voted in to have a female on the team.
I voted against mandatory women. It passed anyway. We put a girl (now 2) on our roster and they expect to play another girl. NOT A DUDE!
Bring your wife, sister, cousin or mother!!!! It aint to F'n hard.
I saw all this coming when we decided to have a female spot. Now that we have it we cannot go back. We need to enforce the rules we have. NO GIRL? Then you lose 3 points...

I certainly can see both sides of this argument.
"Bring your wife, sister, cousin or mother!!!! It aint to F'n hard."
This is easier said than done.
I don't see us having a problem with this rule this year but last year was difficult.
We can live with a 3 pt deficit if that's what is decided.
John - if a team brought a female and the other team did not, the team with the female could play her against the other team's best. This could certainly neutralize any said advantage.

That sucks. You really want to win so badly you would wreck two peoples day? Does that really work for everyone else too?

I don't see how that "wrecks someone's day". I was just suggesting that it's not necessarily a definate advantage for the team that doesn't have a female present that day.
Honestly I think some of you seem very intense on this topic. As I said I have a differing opinion on points being deducted because a female player couldn't attend. We can agree to disagree. We can all vote. and we can move on.

I think steve is right that a penalty is probably the only fair way to handle the hypothetical situation. It kinda sucks on either end...
The lesson here?
Let's make a conscious effort to grow this sport for women in the area!
Steven Dakai wrote:Bring your wife, sister, cousin or mother!!!! It aint to F'n hard.
It is easier said than done, it might take a little work to get a gal to play BUT it's really only that... a little work.
Just gotta get it done, find yourself a gal to play. Period. I think that this is the one roster spot where leniency will be granted when it comes to the roster... We've already said it's a bit of a revolving roster spot...

i understand how people think there should be a penalty if a team does;t bring a female.
but on the flip side I agree that it is a lot of pressure for the women to show up every match.
I am against having a 3 pt penalty for the match if the female does;t show
I can understand the 1pt penalty for the singles match, but not the dubz. the reason why is cause it varries from team to team if they choose to play their guy/girl combo against the other guy/girl combo.
this is a topic that does need to be discussed.
i just don;t think that the whole outcome of a match should fall onto the female of the team...or any one individual on the team.

well said Chris. I also don't want to be scheduling challenges based on when 1 person on my team can attend.
What about just a 1 pt penalty
or a penalty just for teams that don't have a female on their roster.
