Okay, Derek and I are taking a walk today at 330. All are invited. I may try to be there every friday around 3 or so for anyone who is around. I am going to be there at 330 this friday. We are still weeks away from installation. Our focus this week is 1:finding a way to play down from upper lot
2: connecting all parts of the course.

Maybe I seem like I am going overboard -- I just want to do it right the first time...and or having hopefully NO other real problems (or Mis-cues) in the long run...

I have some other Major Stress items going on MY LIFE right now....ENUFF Said....Won't put it here on the Web...

Your last Email made it seem like the First 9 X Holes at Otter Brook were ALL locked in and things were happening by the end of this week...Meetings with Rangers, etc. this Friday. Again, I just want a VOICE at least...

-------------------------------------------------------
By the way (Rebuttal to TITAN) -- I do most of my Emails after 10 PM Because I am tied to working until daylight either doing Course Work or plying DG usually -- much like YOUR weekday schedule -- so 10 PM is about the best I can do -- after Dinner (finally)...

and Yeah I get riled up -- I am very, very passionate about Disc Golf designs -- and doing things the RIGHT WAY...A lot of that is become I have been a Civil Engineer since the mid-1980's....as well as a Disc Golfer since then...The Good Old Days??...
---------------------------------------------------------------------

From latest Blog -- Now it looks like you are not meeting on Weds. afternoon this week...I can't do Keene on this Friday....so there we go again...Looks like maybe next week now?? What day?? Just let me know....Friday again??

Yeah -- I want to talk about the Website//Design as well -- it really makes sense to just have a Keene Disc Golf Alliance website -- with just Otter Brook and my WWC course listed, and Contacts/Events/Videos/Hole Pix, etc. -- FOR NOW...A few excellent reasons...Needs some discussion still...

Already have a layout and the most likely "Links" kind of figured out -- Been thinking about this for about 6 months now....

Later on...John Britton

john call me been playing phone tag all day

was a joke...to lighten the mood. the ten pm

the keene dg site seems almost moot as FB can do everything it need to do IMO...

I still think a broader site will only help in future

weds is still on heck anyday is still ON..just drive up there....walk down and explore..gather your thoughts..refer to the map from google earth..ya can get one yourself and bring even....then post what ya came to for conclusions ect ect

then your voice is heard....mark/derek as they re the locals and project commanders will handle all the rest...they get something finalized then we give em work help

bring a camera takes pics..note book IDK

I think as of now IMO it is just a matter of "taste" or what piece of land to use...finalize this and boooom the next step is gonna be going down..

by the items mark listed I think that is the goal

the first nine was discussed and put off in light of "new" land found by mark, chris, myself so that kinda got a lil curveball good IMO

I am more confident after speaking today with derek that things are moving in right direction and next phase will start soon...

we may have all been in haste but hey excitement can do that...and life can slow thing tis the story of things what can ya do....

we are all passionate and sometimes that is an obstacle DG'ers have to overcome for a group project..I trust the KDGC will grow and things will be ironed out and personalities will fuse eventually

lets just all stay focused and do what we can to help when we can...good things will follow

hmmm I seem to be more positive of late..I love spring...lol

Good postings Titan!

I'm all for staying positive also--let's all work together and create something incredible--everything will gel in time.

I was on for tomorrow, but I think I can make Friday at 3:30 so will shoot for that. I think there is definitely room for a solid 27-36 holes, no problem. A course down by the main area ("Riverside" Course?), and one that connects to the winter parking lot ("Mountain Jam" Course?)..... Lots of good stuff in the air. See y'all soon.

Hey Roy! It's been a while! Glad to see you on the thread.

Mark and I are planning on meeting today at 3:30 at the Otter brook gate. All are welcome. I'm going to bring a camera and take shots of what we are looking at. Hopefully I'll get time this weekend to play around with "drawing in" basket placements. Depends on how the photos work out.

The plan is to go from the "bridge hole" and find a way back to the logging road, and then back to the main road (or at least close to the old shed). We found one hole around the corner from the shed, and then one along a bank to head back to one. We'll keep you posted on what we find on the logging road.

We are getting close to a walk through with the ACOE and "the gang". ;-)

take a look at the tully virtual tour at tullylake.org

click DG then click on each hole for pics..they are old pics but that is not the point

if ya could do some mapping like that would be awesome and really let everyone know the direction for sure

I think if ya just use google earth and add a photo from tee/pin it should be kinda easy to do

don't think I can make it today

Roy is a great guy for design tweaks for sure

have fun today gents

Hey friends of KDGC. Current update: meeting with john asseng from ACOE on Thursday at 245. We are just getting clearance for the areas we would like to use, not finalizing any pin or tee placements. I will be there friday at 3:30 to possibly put out some markers to cut trees and possibly put out flags for tees and baskets. As for any website stuff-not concerned about it, and I won't put any time into this. If others want to work on this go for it. The course is # 1 priority right now and tournaments, fundraisers, etc. will happen when they happen. thanks, the layout is coming together.

nice great news Mark...yeah the ACOE will OBV have stuff on their website about this course..when they go to do it just refer them to tully

a facebook page will suffice anyways and is free and I am sure someone will enjoy doing it..I am personally not a FB dude..

so anyways can't wait to see the final design...the motivation is in your garage...some need baskets..some need fairways and tees...(referring to a recent soutwick post) funny how the DG world works and changes just a lil bit ago KDGC needed everything....so the progress IMO is amazing!!!!

great job and mark post when ya layout final design so I can come drink a beer with ya and celebrate

Hey Titan, thanks for the encouragement. We have approved all the approximate hole locations and will be able to use all of our 4 or 5 "signature" holes including the " green monster" cliff shot over the river and the river hole teeing from the old bridge. Our plan is to hopefully put in 18 holes with at least 9 baskets and then posts for the rest, depending on how many baskets we can borrow. It is only a five minute walk to hole one from the upper lot, but I did mention the long term plan to
put 9 to 18 holes in the upper area to connect the upper and lower Ppark.

Things went really well yesterday with ACOE. The only concerned they really voiced was some of the area's may be wet after a hard rain, but really what place isn't wet after a rainfall? ;-P The good news is all of the signature holes were a go. Mark and I too another walk through after meeting with the ACOE and we made minor modifcations, and like Mark mentioned figured out 9 holes, with the rest being posts. They also seemed receptive to the idea of putting a couple of holes in the main part of the park during the "off season", and the longer terms idea of cutting down the hill from the upper parking lot. I think we are close to starting the real work, and cutting out some holes.

HI Guys,

Great work. Sorry I have been Off lately--busy with work/parenting and wasn't receiving posts to my e-mail so thought maybe things were on hold. ON the contrary you guys have been rockin'!! Psyched that the initial flow of the layout is a go with ACOE. Even the "Green Monster" and super-loooong the river (10)? wahoo! ;^) All the rest will fall into place! I can meet later this week to help finalize/tweak last couple holes if anyone is up for it. I can bring camera, if necessary. Talk soon!

Chris

Hi everyone, put in a few hours Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week. So far it looks like around 15 holes are flagged and some trees are marked. We will meet with ACOE next week for final hole approval, and hopefully we can at least start clearing brush soon. Still a few design issues, but I will be there again friday at 330 for a walk through.

I'll be there....with discs...great idea--let's see how the course throws! Have an idea for at least One additional hole possibility, depending on your layout changes. Mark, it would be in the area we looked at--before you come to the river--keeping with the flow of the course as is.... See you Friday at 4pm, unless another post crops up!

Finally had a chance to update the website http://keenediscgolf.com On it I slapped together a rough map for what we have laid out so far (15 holes). There are two holes in light blue on the bottom that we would like to utilize for future expansion, but they might not go in right away as it will require a second footbridge. There are flags out there as well so between the flags and this map maybe people can follow it. Looking forward to seeing folks this afternoon.

Come check it out, input is always good, I believe the going rate to be a member of Keene Disc Golf is the cost of a KDG tee shirt that is super stylish, durable and tie died...what a bargain.

Hi everybody . Derek and myself are meeting at otterbrook at 3 on Thursday. We are hoping to get pin approval for at least the first 9 baskets. The plan is to put several baskets on the front 9 and several on the back 9, with posts on the rest to start.
If anyone would like to join us, feel free. Sorry these times are always so early, but the ACOE does not wrk too late.
There are several holes that are almost ready to play, several that will take only a few hours to clear, a few to chainsaw and a few which may need to be totally redesigned when we see the summer bug/foliage/wetness situation.
I have spoken to ACOE about volunteer waivers and hopefully he can get those to me quickly. We can't do too much without those, but we may meet Saturday to throw some throws and take out some branches.
Ian: the "club" has no official memberships, but I do have a few shirts left for 5 bucks. only M or 2xl. we hope to do bag tags after baskets are in. I will be there Friday as well at 330 if you want to check it out.

Bad news. Mark walked through with the ACOE today and the brook holes are a no go which mean we need to redesign most of the back 9. We did get permission for 6 holes, but it looks like things are going to be delayed for a while till we can walk some more of the property.
