we will be meeting Sat 5/3 10am in parking area off from RT 140...semi across street from Gardner Bike path.I dont have GPS coords yet
this will be intial design work and blah blah

Nice work getting the ball rolling again. Now that we've got a few more people stepping up for Coggshall, there's a possibility for me to contribute some time to this project. This course when built will fill the RT2 gap between Coogs and Tully nicely.
I'd like to do a walk through in any case but I see I'm already late for today- next time, I hope...

Myself,Trenton, and Dave R all showed today
Trent and I took a stroll and targeted some holes and just overall walked around identifing some thangs
Dave showed..Trent had to bounce and myself and Dave rewalked the land discovering some new thangs and some better flow..
I have now walked the land 2x before harvest and 3 times post harvest..
It is strange cuz it is like the timber harvest people cut the land for a DG course..werd...
there are so many logging roads,non property boundary stone walls and fresh cuts that it is a tad confusing...
there is a cart road that intersects the property almost in half...
before we were thinking 9&9 but there is tooo much land..lol all awesome DG land...so we now are going with 18 on one side...and in the future years down the line another course will be put in on the other side...Dave is popping hot ready to go on this and Trenton has a DG shop right down the road...so the future is bright..and wow another mecca just sprouts up with time,labor and funds...I just love it really
so I/we am not fighting the land in the sense of going chainsaw blazing crazy gung ho...we are going to work with the infinite seams and coolness the timber harvest left...heck there is enough to clean up for a pack of work a day workers for a year
the course will be thin wooded with some diverse terrain
all that said..logistics dictate everything..regardless of the land..you can have an awesome hole but if it doesn't connect well to others then well it sux...
we have determined where holes 1 & 18 almost have to go and have early thoughts on the actual holes...
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,18 have been semi identified
we now have to work semi backwards from 18 to connect back to 13...we have room to play on 13..and cool land between 13-18 so 14,15,16,17 will be fine and have a birdy fest type feel to end on a longer hole 18..so the home stretch will demand scoring to perform with the field/etc etc and lets face it some birdy holes can be fun as heck
back on 13 will be a massive converging spot in years to come for the 2 courses and will be this awesome DG gathering spot when out playing..it is also a spot that can be changed/tweaked to fit the futures needs...so kinda critical actually
I am on getting flags,marking tape...Dave is on finding/learning a mapping APP to overlay coordinates onto map...
we will mark/map what we have,revisit 14-17 and identify actually what we wanna do...then overlay and look at our map relative to the land boundaries...se where we have some big gaps...revisit and see if we could/should adjust/tweak....
once that is all done..we will open to all to come out walk the design..add input..we will take that input and discuss if it applies to reality...
then Dave/I will take the proposed layout to City...and set for walkthrough for final green lights to proceed with work...
serious when I say the land is perfect for DG after that timber harvest...amazing really
then it is onto what we can do with debris...pile/chip/burn....once determined will decide on how we should proceed with the next step
so after that is finalized...we will flag the outer edges with marking tape,mark off where piles need to go...and then it is basically just go frigging nuts on cleaning the forest debris to pile areas...
I suspect tees will go in before baskets on this project...as fundraising for baskets vs donated tee material will make that go along quicker..I kinda like that though..then the baskets are last instead of ok got baskets now onto tee..grrrr more work..lol
fund rasing plan will be formulated soon...IMO approahing local businesses is the best approach...as we can have signs in their honor put up here...and OBV DG'ers, and hopefully some City funds are alocated but not holding my breath

the winchendon golf school is right down the street as well..they would be fools not to include DG as well for more potential $$$$...I plan on having that convo eventually..as I am often in winch of late coaching/playing(poker)during the week
side note the public BG course is close as well..hospital wellness/exercise programs, boyscouts camp collier,mylec hockey center,bogey free DG,bike paths,no foot traffic=riftraft and of course as you mentioned The MNT...
so this will fit so nice..almost erie how perfect this piece of land really is...
attach an awesome bussiness like the ALE house and wowzer....

good to have a better feel for the land
holes 14-17 are not yet determined but we have a sense of where they need to go..
but more exploration of the land is needed after we get things mapped to better determine what parcels of land we may have overlooked
I think South of hole 10/11 needs to be considered for better accessment of the overall land allotted, and maybe think about using a portion of the fielded area for exit rather the end points we have now
we may find something cool down there freeing up more land towards the end of proposed loop as to not feel crammed/tied on creativity
summary of agenda

Dave and I spent 2-3 hours mapping,and finalizing some design aspects
found 2 new holes that are great, very pumped about them and figured out what we are gonna do with the ending
as of now we are moving to getting the holes all laid out onto the city maps to see what they say and then move on from there
so we have are tentative 18 hole loop completed
gotta go for now will update more soon

I am pumped we were able to create 18 holes all to the right of the cart road
leaving about 40acres for the future!!!!
ponder that 2 courses in a few years

I must say Dave has some strong passion for this piece of land and for gardner in general...
I also must admit he has an eye for design and we gelled great out there

exchanged information with the city map lady(she is awesome BTW)
all of our way points are within the property and away from any conflicts
once we remap depicting hole shapes,trails with actual tee/pin waypoints then the overall design will be overlayed onto the huge city map and sent out to PTB who need to see engineer,conservation, and community planning for final approval
once that is granted then the entire property will be flagged,marked to begin early work!!!
things are rolling along nicely and I must add this has been such a smooth adventure so far and am confident we have used the land to its full potential creating fun,challenging shots that will give the player an overall great DG adventure
will update as more information comes around
time frame will be about 2 weeks till be are ready to overlay onto city map, and then we are at the mercy of the PTB
thanks and stay tuned lurkers

updated him on the progress, and gave him some time lines on the next phase
Dave and I are super busy as of now, so the final map won't be submitted until late July

I should be able to help with this. I have a GPS and can try mapping it with Google Earth. Also, My wife had mentioned she might be able to do the mapping for us in GIS.

I will try to figure out when I could get out there. Also, if you ever get out there with someone else to get the coordinates, I could handle the mapping of them.
