Team Challenge needs your help

Post by Steven Dakai »

TC will no longer be able to post here if we do not get some volunteers to moderate the TC area. The current moderators cannot keep up with the volume of posts and it will be shut down very soon.

Please contact Matt DeAngelis if you are interested.

Lets keep team challenge on the NEFA board!

seems like a simple fix
If someone violates the rules then give em a warning. If they do it again then suspend their posting privelages for a period of time.
Telling the same people over and over again to stop obviously isn't working.

These volunteers would be expected to read through the threads as they happen. We would also require people to report the offending posts. If these things don't happen, it's a moot point.

You all have the ability to be "moderators" by simply clicking the (!) in the lower right corner of any offending post. Then the actual moderator(s) that we give special permissions to will see a report notice and can take action from there.

the point is juniors/parents will see the said post in question

that said how many juniors are nefa members?
what has nefa done this year besides this to attract juniors?
is it a perceived issue or has someone actually brought it to the PTBs attention?

why not get rid of purgatory? under the same basis

just trying to understand how this is actually gonna help Nefa as an org

I get the point some post are offensive..but is it really that big of a deal

if the same energy was allotted by the PTB to org a juniors event as to protect them from "offensive" language we might actually have some future junior members

This year is really the first year that we have seen juniors participating in tournaments. There will likely be a focus placed on this next year. It has been brought to our attention by the parents.

Purgatory will likely be removed when we upgrade the forum, along with other changes like mandatory NEFA membership to post in and see certain areas of the forum. Yes it is that big of a deal, and some of the same people questioning this are the offenders...go figure.

As someone who has been an offender in the past, logging those posts really solves nothing. More people are apt to listen to your arguements when displayed in a less offensive manner.

Whether you are a Junior, Novice, Am or a Pro,..represent the game like a Pro!

Isn't it better to make fun of someone in a creative way rather than just name calling or making sexual comments? We can still have our fun, but like Gary was saying, do it in a professional manner.

Would it make sense if each team had a moderator?

Personally I think the Team Challenge has out grown the NEFA website. It is time for our own web host. Here is great website that many leagues of different sports and games use. A few of my softball leagues use it. It is what this league needs and it is free.

Leaguelineup.com is the site. It has everything from a message board, guestbook, rosters section, schedule section, standings, photo section, bulletin board, etc. Players, captains, and the commissioner should really take a look at this site and take the tour. Hands down it will better serve our Team league than the NEFA website.

Yes that sounds great, but isnt this where the disc golfers in new england go to find out info about the sport? By kicking the most popular activity off of the board would that limit the exposure that players had to it? Didnt we all find out about TC here?
Although this website/forum does not offer everything that a league may want what it does offer is US,the players. We like TC! We want to see more people enjoy it. Its the most popular thread because its the most popular thing to do!!!!
I am an offender. So are half of you. When Meow asked me to pull down a post it was gone in minutes. Wouldnt each of you do the same?
Try this...enforce the rules...name 5 new moderators to the board...make teams responsible for their members...Any of the above.

Steve we can have both. All we need to do is set up the league on League Lineup and have a locked sticky somewhere on this website directing people to the Team challenge website so people know where to go for info. It's a win win for NEFA and the Team Challenge. Plus yOu will be able to run your mouth still as you feel fit. :D We will always need a good Buttons rant in the winter without worrying about moderators.

Why cant we just ban offensive posters (either temporarily or permanently)? I dont understand why we need a specialized babysitter for TC. We are all grown ups and do enough babysitting in our day to day lives. Is it so hard to just get harsher with penalities for offensive posts? I would think you could setup a filter similar to the spam/bot filter

Are you offering your moderator services?

The spam/bot filter is me......... every day i go thru about 20 newly registered accounts and see what 3rd world country they come from then delete them. The new version of the forum will fix this.

So we can wait for the new version of the forum and filter by user names, or IP addresses for some offensive posters?

It also has to do with the volume of posts that take place in that area of the forum. It would require a moderator to read through everything to make sure that there was nothing against the terms of use going on, which is not a reasonable request for one or two people on top of other obligations. We may all be adults, just some of us don't act like it while online, which is why we need this.

I guess I fail to understand why we cannot ban certain, repeat offenders. Im pretty sure we could create a list of those on the chopping block in about 5 minutes. If they want to complain then let them but it seems silly to spin up effort after effort to hide or moderate these people when it is a small group of folks who repeatedly post questionable things

point

"most" in TC enjoy the BS..and "want" a place to say/do what they please in an effort to insult the souls who are intended to be crushed at a particular challenge

edit and/or their fellow team mates in some cases

Right, we can do that, but it is finding them in the first place. I'm not going to read through the thousands of posts that take place to find offenders. That was the request made. If there are a couple people that want to volunteer their time to do this, and really read through them all, then warn and ban those posters, then let them stand up and do the dirty work.
