Cranbury Garbage Bins

I would love to get a few more garbage bins around holes 4, 5, 6, 7. I think there used to be a bin near one of those tee-off spots but it has been a pain to carry empties up to 8.. yes I am that lazy
Anyways, I have seen lots of garbage around recently - although it looks like a crew went through and picked up. I think if we had a few more bins that might keep people from dumping garbage in the woods.

I think the litter problem is epidemic these days. Never in all of the years have I picked up so much loose garbage.
We have garbage cans on a lot of holes in Tolland, and yet people throw stuff on the ground even around the trash cans.
Lots of twisted tea and cheap beer cans around. I have picked up garbage that I know was in the hands of people in groups ahead of me, then have gone up to the group and said, excuse me, did you drop something. I then give my spiel on how we would like to keep the park clean for us and others.
I think some people just don't give a sh*t. I will consider putting up a sign asking people to be considerate of others and to please carry out what they carry in.
If that doesn't help, I will consider partial or lifetime bans to those that I catch wrecking the place.
Lately, it has been a real bummer to have to keep stopping during our round to pick up garbage and take out massively filled garbage cans full of waste. There is nothing but volunteer effort to make this happen, and of course it falls on the course maintainers more than anything. I am thrilled when I find that others having been helping out.
Lastly, I am considering having deputies for the course. That is to say that I would deputize certain individuals to help look out for the course and to have some authority to ban people in the event they are doing harm to the course. I would consider redemption for banned individuals if they chose to come to a work day or two, or offered their services to help pick up the park. Anything we can do to help the courses stay nice and free and limit the amount of ongoing work it takes to undo the disparagement of others. Keep up good work.

I can see a ban working on a pay to play course, but how can it be enforced on a public course? If a ban person or group were playing would the police be called or the park & rec? Just curious on how this would be enforced.

True, it would be impossible to oversee. Maybe the person would just go away, or maybe just at least feel remorse for their actions.
You must admit that without some kind of response, the situation has the potential to only get worse.

With no way to enforce a ban. An attempted ban may get you an "well I guess I am going to show them now" response from the offenders who obviously don't give a s%$* or they wouldn't be littering in the first place.

Also maybe true. Have any suggestions that might work ?
I'm trying to come up with solutions.

A few trash cans in places that are easy to maintain and signage asking to carry out. Too many and people think the whole thing is a trash can.
Publicly shame offenders.
Maybe another sign promoting cleaning the course. "Les removed 4 bags of trash in July, Thank You Les"
Might work???

A few "official" - $250 Fines for littering signs sprinkled around the course could help.

Were doing course work this saturday. Getting it ready for Cranbury Classic. If your a man you should come help out.

there is no garbage collection that far back in the woods. if you want to drink or eat it while playing, and carried it whole up till your consumpion of it,you should be able to carry the remains to the next can. thanx
