Points discussion

Post by Matt DeAngelis »

Hello All,

A group of NEFA members are discussing potential changes to the point series for the next season and beyond. Please sit tight while we work out the details and come together with a new Points Series charter.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt should we wait until then to submit date requests? Mucci, JD, Dan-O and I would like our traditional weekend, the first in May. May Madness 2013: Eastern Mass Champs @ Pye Brook Sat 5/4, Amesbury Pines Open @ Amesbury Sunday 5/5.

That's two Cinco de Mayos in a row for the APO. We might have to get a Mexican citizen on the board of directors.......

You can submit date requests. I would like to give date preference to those events that have been around for a while.

Keep in mind that in order for the event to be taken off the pending status is to be a current NEFA member and submit payment along with the signed charter. The charter and payment for events will be available online this year, so no need to write out a check or print out the charter!

Can you clarify this a bit more? The last couple years it has been first come first served, and even though events still had "pending" on them up until a couple weeks before the event, they still were able to hold their date over others who had paid months earlier. I had always thought you couldn't hold any date until you paid and were a member, but that has not been the case. Can we hold dates now or when the Charter comes out, and what is that date?

And, are you doing the scheduling or Trenton? How should we submit dates now, if we can?

Thanks in advance, John

Sorry for any confusion caused. Trenton is doing the scheduling again this year. My hope was that events that have traditionally held an event the same weekend for years would get that same weekend if they wanted it. I will bring this up for discussion with the board and get a formal decision posted.

Hi John,

Submit dates via the online form below

I will add stuff to the calendar with a pending status until we get the new charter completed.

Trying to remember, but I think someone volunteered to take care of that last year. We gave them the ability to update it and they took care of it. Who was that mystery person!

So, is the charter going to be ready for perusal before the first NEFA Points tournament of the season?

I hope so! The changes to the finals becoming the NEC took up some of the time we usually have to work on it.

could discussion be (re)opened) on allowing an event to offer 1 division..select divisions for nefa events

and with the new regional structure could the 1 event a year rule be explored..or allow for some wiggle for example tully has an event Flatrock has an event..and then allow for an event at Tully and Flatrock combined ect ect

the rule was to be fair to outside regions..with the new structure in place to define things more acutely why not allow a course to host 2?

many already do..some go pdga/nefa or pdga or nefa and pdga or nefa unsanctioned..and sometimes pdga or unsanctioned and no NEFA why not allow for nefa to crush everything?

No.

Mass has twenty six 18 hole courses..... no reason to double up.

Happy New Year! So, with 2 NEFA tournaments in the books, do we have a points
tabulation system in place? I know tweaks were in the works, anything resolved or changed?
Thanks Danny for doing the grunt work of keeping track of a bunch of golfing hooligans.

We were debating changing the points calculations to take into account how many people a player beats in their division. A vote has not been made on that yet, as we were hoping to have a discussion in person at a board meeting. However, the last two meetings couldn't happen. I will setup a vote for this item tonight and have the board vote on if a change is coming or if the same point calculation will be used as in years past.
