Go with the R-Pro XD...... Much softer and doesn't beat in as much.

Thanks Jeff. I will look at it. I have been throwing so many differnt putters. I started with a Birdie, and I liked it until it bounced outa the chains more often than not. Then I started to use Aviars, Yeti, JK, and then a PD2. I like them, but I am very inconsistent with them on upshots or putts near the circle. Now I am usin a Sole, and a Summit. All of these discs give me fits on approaches. My fingers hook the deep rims and I find myself using a fan grip. I also have started using the Birdie alongside the Vibram discs, because the Birdie, for me, is the easiest disc to throw hyzer and anhy putts.
I have held, but haven't thrown, a soft Magnet...felt good.
So, I am thinking maybe the shallower rim could be a big help. I just read about the DX XD, didn't even know there was R-Pro...but I will do my due-diligence!

R pros are tourney fundraiser only. Check out the 2013 Asian open run of r pro XDs, they are nice. I would caution you though, the XD is more of a straight to under stable driving putter. Misses with the xd from close range would leave some long come back putts

XD's are great, and you'll be surprised to see how many of them have found homes in very talented NEFA players bags.

I primary use them for hyzer flip approaches, but A few years ago i did putt with them while i was going through a funk. they are a terrible windy day putter. XD's are sneaky long and at times overshoot their intended target. Now a days the XD is more if a utility disc, for holes like #4 at Panthorn or #16 at Tolland. The d challenger has taken 100% of the putting and shares the approaching job with d Zones.

I personally can't stand the r-pro XD. Doesn't feel the same and doesn't fly as nice. The main point of an XD is to go straight or to finish right. A DX will beat into a right turner quick. Compliment it with a fresh one and you'll have those shots covered.

I have a brand new GHDgO stamped r-pro XD, collecting dust on the shelf next to 8 beat up DX ones. Trade or for sale?

I ony use the XD for anhyzer putts and short approaches.
The R-Pro is much softer and it'll stick the landing better than the DX.
Also is more durable in the rocky, NE terrain.

I love my dx xd I use it for anhyzer approachs and some longer straight putts. A little height with a decent snap and slow arm speed these carve great left to right arc.

The original XD came out in 1984, and a new one came out in 1990.

Tim, I've been using the Vibram putters, Summit and Sole for the last week, about four rounds. Two at Cranbury, two in BPT Veteran's Park.

I like the summit for long approach upshots, it's flippy and has a predictable "S" line. Problem is, if I throw it less than hard, I hook it with my fingers. Same with the Sole, unless I fan grip it and spin it like the "old days.
LIke I said, I think, I broke out my Birdie, because that really handles well for me on anhy/hyzer short approaches. Don't like it to be my last shot disc.
I'm just thinking a lower profile putter may feel more comfortable.
I do kno, it's me, and I can throw any disc, when I throw correctly, or, I can't throw any disc if I don't!.
I held and tossed a Wizard today, it felt good, and I made a couple putts.
I guess I will just keep trying different molds until I find something that suits me, or my search for technique allows me to use any old disc.
Meanwhile, my garage drawer(s) is filling up with discs that has been put on "hiatus!"
Thanks to all of you for your replies! It all helps...

Nick try the classic roc. And remember to shake hands when putting. When you release your putter focus on opening your hand for a hand shake.

i haven't used as many putters as you mentioned, but can relate with not being able to decide!
good luck on the search though- just try not to base it on a couple rounds of hitting some putts. honestly, from 15-18 feet in it doesn't matter what disc it is, as long as you're comfortable!

Discmania PD2 Psycho, a modified Aviar...which mold I do not know. Nice disc though. I like it, it can fly far.
There is really so much to know about discs today, my old brain has a hard time taking it all in. I am a Grandmaster....of understability. <g>

a "P2" i would guess
i don't know their putters- which is why i didn't guess this at first!
makes sense with their innova connection- so many discs out there!

in truth, i zeroed in on the PD-2 because i had a friend say he wanted a PD
so since i owed him a disc- i grabbed him one
except i ended up getting a PD-2 by mistake
and he had wanted a PD
and now you mention a PD-2
but meant to say P2
oops?
i think discmania could benefit from some slightly different names... or letters... or something.

You can't get a putter with a much lower profile than a summit.

If your hooking the rim on that disc, I think you've got a form issue. I use them to putt BECAUSE of the low profile. Give it more time.

Zones are very low profile too, but it's not really a putting putter.

Those who have seen me playing will know that I ALWAYS carry XDs in my bag.

I only use XDs for standing throws, I never do run-ups with the XDs.

In my bag, I carry one beat-up DX XD for upshots, anny drives or "get out of situations". And the other one is less beat-up DX XD for long tight straight shots with slow fade.

I used to carry R-Pro XDs and love them!! But after about 6 months of uses, it quickly becomes very understable and unpredictable. I junked them and went back to DX XDs.

The heavy weight (173-175) DX XDs without the flight ratings are my preferences. I was able to get a few of pre-flight ratings XDs few years ago. If any of you still have those XD discs, preferably no less than 8/10 conditions, PM me for trade or buy!!

I have not yet experience throwing the DX XD Plus (+) mold before but I should anyway. Don't know if the Plus mold will effect my natural throwing style. :|

No, honestly, I haven't tried it but did held them before when visiting MST store couple months ago. It feels slippery and not sure if its overstable like Star XD, is it? If so, then its not my thing.

I prefer stable to slightly understable. The DX plastics are easiest to break-in in few weeks to the point where you want the disc to be.

I got myself a Classic ROC 175 today, and, an R-Pro 171. I really like the feel of R-Pro plastic! I have never gripped anything that felt so surehanded. I putted the both of them a few times and both felt very good, the R-Pro much more overstable.
The Classic has a low profile I like. I can't get over how great that R-Pro plastic feels, and I have never felt anything like it...is there anything like it?
I also have a Roc3 Champ...no intention of using it as a putter, but I look forward to throwing it.
I'll use these discs for the next few weeks, then I may start searching for the R-Pro XD, or ...is there an R-Pro Classic?

I think the Vibram Sole may be my choice for "inside the circle" putts...may...the opertive word.
My circle is probably smaller than most of your'n! (YMMV)
