Hello,
I need you help.
How did Nefa overcome the discrepancy in attendance at events and still run a fair points system?
We're setting up our Quaich Tour 2015 and I cannot remember how we all overcame emerging disc golf events juxtaposed with established events and still made the whole points system run fairly. (by 'We" I mean as a passenger watching the Board and all of you constructively bickering on this page btw)
For a little background our Tour in '15 will consist of 8 events, two- 2 day well attended events with 40+ entrants, and 6+ emerging one day events with maybe 8+ entrants and most of the participants at the one day events competing at the Intermediate level.
I'd like to keep the points system as simple as possible. The problem is the system we have now is flawed, its 5pts for showing up plus 5pts for every person you beat in your division. Its a flawed system because the season will essentially be over after the two well attended 2 day events this Spring.
The current system worked out fine this year as we had the two best players in Scotland battling for The Quaich in the final event of the year. As we expand I can see issues with attaining points and I'd like to keep it all fair and smooth.
As far as an update Dave, I'm applying what was learned from ya'll as well as I can. I'm finding little bits and pieces of disc golf history all over this country and trying to make it all jive again. Scotland has basically the same land mass and population as Massachusetts oddly enough. Our progress is taking shape rapidly, we had an idea for a triple crown last February and before we could say "Bunnahabain' we had a six event tour. This year we're hoping to make it 8 events and double attendance, its all still baby steps. I can remember how disc golf exploded in New England back in the day and the same process is happening here now, its very exciting times. One of the funny things from last year was the controversy we stirred up by actually adding cash AND paying out the Open division.
Fingers crossed, we have a very good chance at hosting a Euro Tour Event in '15, its basically a 12+ country disc golf themed party. If any Nefa members want to join us I promise to rent you a kilt for the event, what you wear under it is your business.
Take care, I miss the scene, hopefully we'll be back soon to say hello.
Cheers
Seamus

Ever wanted to travel to Scotland?
The British Open will be at our course just outside Edinburgh March 7th & 8th 2015
Shoot me an email if you have any questions we'll help you any way we can. This event historically draws a full field from 10+ countries. As a Euro Tour TD I'm allowed to appoint a certain number of entries to encourage travel from abroad so you can start planning now if interested.
http://www.rebootdiscgolf.com/the-battl ... -open.htmlJames we are related by name and sport.
Cheers
