Disc Golf Course Review

Post by Titan_Bariloni »

I gotta say...after reading through reviews of late..never been much of a DGCR person
People are kinda dumb and have no clue really

it seems people just think things magically happen or there are no restraints that restricted certain things from happening

is there a spot for the person(s) who actually knows what is going on to do a write up in a certain area?

who puts the course up originally?
I hate when someone just throws a non mature course onto the intra for reviews with no insight on the project...people cant see through that and insta complain about things that take time

I am not angry about bad reviews...I just think people are kinda yingling

edit..also everyone thinks they know design and other blah blah...yet I never see anyone at any work days...or all these magic courses pop up from the fountains of design know how these people seem to think they behold

I really enjoy DGCR and think it's a good resource. Titan anyone can update current course conditions to explain the current on goings at a course in development. I do it for our courses. The reviews themselves you take like with any other internet posting with a grain of salt. You can tell by reading the different reviews which give an honest opinion and which are bs.

Have you not met 'PEOPLE' before?
You can't TELL people what they like and dislike, we all have our own reasons for playing and there is no right way to like/dislike things.

And if someone doesn't think something is good, telling them why they are wrong is not going to change any minds. Why even have feedback if we just fight it?

Review the feedback, note trends, then decide if things should change.

Every single "dumb" reviewer "knows what's going on". They know exactly if they are enjoying it or not, bottom line.

Makes total sense.
One of the big reasons I don't write reviews.
I know what I like.

Or just find a trusted reviewer that has played a lot of courses and likes the same things as you. Dave242 works for me.

is there a way to filter so you can show the entire country of DG courses all at once?

or do you have to zoom in to acute areas..?

Thanks..just wondering what the current spread is nation wide

I went to the search page(w/o the map) and it listed 4388 courses with 9 or more holes.

The map feature is interactive and I assume that it cannot display all the US courses(clickable basket icons) because it's so much data the website crashes.

It will only display a certain number on the map, probably capped for the reason Jeff said.

Interesting, A lot of research and a little work can make that map that you desire.

cool map James..I actually think I have seen that before..what google search did ya use?

JW..does it show on the map all the courses a user played that is inputted?

if so could you in theory mark them all and then look at map?

First pondered wondering what regions have a semi connected grid like Nefa..to identify what areas prob have a regional/state series..then was just curious in general what the map would look like

that map def shows the hot spots

some interesting trends at first glance..

nicest weather has most courses..well nice in regards to temps/humidity SWest
the entire west coast seems blanketed
VA,NC,SC all super populated
FL
TX
Colorado
MI/WI and surrounding states
NY
and finally New England represents fairly well

the entire line from TX to WI seems hot..wondered if they have some connection or if it was random...is Barry S from WI..? might have something to do with it...lots of old skooolers seem to be from WI/MI/TX

cool to connect the entire east coast like the west is...

interesting anyways..ty for posting

edit...taking it a step further..would love to dissect a lil on those ultra zones the why..? was it a Pro Shop/PRO Player(s)/Ease of Green lights/funding/age in the sport course wise/Mega Events/Public vs Private land used/ etc etc....and where were all the original courses by Steady put in at over laid on this map would be cool to see

if some common variables keep showing up..maybe it could be broken down even further and some model starts to develop that seems to have success..IDK just thinking

one thing that seems to be visible is where there is a course more naturally spawn outwards from original course...eventually the grid will naturally connect to some extent...I know it is huge undertaking to travel abroad to put a course in..on all aspects...but maybe in these OBV deadzones..it might be worth implanting a few courses here and there...I understand you need players/people..but am a fan of if ya build it they will come...maybe that would excel things a bit more then waiting for the natural spread to occur..IDK

also I bet that west coast tour is fun stuff..from top to bottom is very diverse in land features/weather...and so many courses to keep ya tied up half a lifetime..

just fun to think about

Because the entire county is shaded an even color / amount, there is a slight skewing of perceived data that exists (but it still is cool and does give relative concentration numbers). An example of this is the Allentown, PA area. One of the only reasons I'll be glad to leave NJ and get back to N.E. is that if you're in Allentown (I'm 1 hour from there), you have 16 18-hole courses to choose from within 20 miles (radius)...and that doesn't even consider the 9-holer (a lot of them) in the same area! But because these courses literally lay on the cusp of 3 adjoining counties, they don't show up a really 'dark' (indicating a super density of courses in an area).

Fixed the picture in my post.

Yes, as I play new courses I go to the course page(within DGCR) and select them as played. You cant select them in bulk so putting every US course in my played list would take a few hours.
