Who gets a free travel basket?
Re: 19th RI Frostbite Classic / Ice Bowl 2014 Sat Feb 15th
Hey Matt,
We have not gotten 20 entries online yet...
But...I can assure you...the "who" would be an entrant to the event...
I have a few different ways that we could decide who gets this...
Maybe the one that travels the furthest to get there??? or???
Who is going to put the $'s up and help put this on the prize list???
Thanks,
T.M.DYER

I think I can make it out but I am going to have to pay the day of.
James, if you want a ride from Prov. I can be of help.
TM, are you getting the 4 wheeler if we have another huge snowstorm or two before the tourney? The conditions last year were great for that.
I will check my finances and see if this year is a possibility to come down.
Andrew

Hey Andrew,
I plan on taking the week off to prep the course for the event...
I have snow plowing responsibilities... as long as it does not snow...I'll be at the course...
If we have a snow cover on the course for the event...
I will bring the tractor and drive around the course so we can walk on the tire tracks...
The tees will be clear...
We have inside registration... inside lunch...inside awards...warm inside bathrooms available...
Lets get a few more signed up online...
Thanks,
T.M.DYER

Re: 19th RI Frostbite Classic / Ice Bowl 2014 Sat Feb 15th
I went and played Ninigret for the first time this past weekend & had a blast. Seems like the course has gotten a bad rap on DGCR, but I had a ton of fun out there. I could see how it could be unpleasant in the summer (swampy, buggy, and thick rough), but with about 3-4 inches of snow everywhere it was smooth sailing - no bugs, obviously, swamp was frozen, and the rough was all dead. I had a great time. The layout is really challenging, but it doesn't feel "unfair"... there are well-defined fairways that require shaping your shots and some cool trees/obstacles to work around. Placement/shot-shaping pays off and the course lets you play lots of different shots/discs.
If you're on the fence about heading over for the ice bowl, give it a go. T.M. was out there clearing tees while I was there and was scheming on how to scrape the fairways, but the footing wasn't too bad even with the snow that was out there, and it was crusty enough that it didn't eat any discs. Good luck to all who play!

I know there is a storm coming on Thursday but it doesn't look like a big event for the ninigrit area. Is there snow on the ground now? Ribbons needed?
Looking forward to playing

Re: 19th RI Frostbite Classic / Ice Bowl 2014 Sat Feb 15th
Just signed up on-line.
According to WJAR, they're calling for a few inches before a changeover, so that shouldn't really make things too bad. Will make for a tough Friday cleanup before play Saturday.
I am picking up somebody in Providence Saturday, so if there is anyone else in that area or anyone near Gillette Stadium that wants to carpool, call or text me (484) 225-8570. I need to leave no later than 6:30 to do this, as the players meeting starts at 8:45, and the course is 90 mins from my place.
Thanks, see you Saturday
Andrew L.

According to weather.com:
Snow/rain showers likely anytime after 9, but shouldn't get bad until later in the day. Will change to all snow early afternoon. Not sure how heavy it will be.
Oh well.
No whining!

Is the course full o' slush? Very curious about how much different the ground looks in southern RI, than it does in the north end.
Re: 19th RI Frostbite Classic / Ice Bowl 2014 Sat Feb 15th
Hey Kevin,
There is about four inches of mushy snow...
I have most all of the tees clear of ice and snow...
If the temp drops and holds then it will all stiffen up...
Looks like we will have some different kinds of precipitation during the round...
Most Accumulation will happen later in the day & overnight...
Got my plow truck fixed so I can go and plow later on in the eve after the tourney is complete...
We have indoor registration...
We have indoor lunch and awards...
Nice clean heated bathrooms are available for us to use...
Kingston Pizza will be there to take lunch orders...
Thanks,
T.M.DYER

Re: 19th RI Frostbite Classic / Ice Bowl 2014 Sat Feb 15th
Thanks for a fun day TM! That third round was some of the toughest golf I've ever played. Was happy to take a nice warm shower when I got home around 10pm haha
See ya next year
Ps- I lost a very important flx surge on hole 1 (our 2nd to last hole and the first disc that we had to look for). It's on the right side somewhere between the shortest tee and the large and low tangled tree. About 75 feet ahead of the short tee. Hopefully it comes back

Heu Luke,
Glad you got home safe...
I have not had a chance to take that hot shower yet...
Plowed from right after the event til just a little while ago...
Just unloaded the donated food so it won't freeze being outside...
I want to find your disc for you...what color???I assume it has your name and # on it...
The conditions of the last rnd were pretty tough...
Snowing steady to the tune of a couple inches an hour...and the wind was gusting to 25knots...temps right around freezing...
players were covered with at least an inch of snow as they returned and came inside to the community center...
I will get the full results up...who won what...how much food... how much $'s...
Huge Thanks to the 28 players who showed in the am...
Congrats to the 24 who finished three rnds...
I hope that all of them had a safe trip home...
Thanks,
T.M.DYER
