Innova Factory Store Limited Production Discs

Post by Sam Henderson »

Anyone order any of these things?

I have already bought a Brinster Bird (STABLE!), KC Tour Series Tern (lost at MH under some leaves), and a Destroyer (Holy Stable). I have ordered an old school DX stamped Champion Eagle and Valkyrie and am eagerly awaiting their arrival. Has anyone bought/thrown anything else on there? Curious about the Des Reading Firebird (can't get my hands on an 11x), a VJ TL, Cobra, Gazelle, or Viper. Damn the "Jolly Launcher" is sexy.

I thought I was exciting to get the original unthrown Pro Cheetah (old Innova stamp) that are champion-like plastic for 20 bucks! Suckers!!

But it turns out that it was a remake Champion Cheetah plastic. There's website address on the bottom of the disc. Not original. Disappointing. I'm the sucker then.

TIPS - If you do see Innova's website address on any old school discs, then its NOT the original runs!!

The old schools or OOPs usually does NOT have any website address anywhere on the disc until around 2000-2001, I think.

Lesson learned!
Tee Off and Pay ATTENTION!!

I found the JL eagles (with the old stamp) to be very DOMEY. like so DOMEY that I haven't even wanted to throw it yet. Not like my 11x cal x molds.

As for the JL destroyers, I was actually surprised that they were not more stable. They don't seem to hold up in stiff heady like a new destroyer should. Definitely not a stable as the new star destros with the pd2 top. (Yes there is yet ANOTHER configuration for destroyer molds now).

I followed that thread on dgcr for a while. It may not be exactly a pd2 top, and yes people have made arguments that it is just a matter of the cooling process or some other variable (as opposed to a different mold)... But it is evident that there are two different types of AJ destroyers in production/ being sold in general inventory right now. Some have a more traditional top, and some have a top that resembles a pd2. Not exactly a pd2 but pretty close. Go to MST and look through the stack. The difference is pretty clear.

My original point (and continuing) is that there are now at least three distinct variations on the destroyer. Maybe they aren't three different molds, but the difference between the so-called pd2 destroyer and the usual destroyer is noticeable, and everyone knows the destrulcans just suck.

I have had this discussion with pros who throw them who agree, the "pd2" ones are wicked OS. It looks different and flies different.

..........first run destroyer value goes up
might be time to sell some

I've bought some discs from the factory store before. Their customer service was horrible and the shipping costs were high at that time, it was a few yrs ago so maybe they have figured things out (they got my order totally wrong more than once and were a pain in the arse to deal with to make it right). Some of the stuff they have there looks pretty cool though.

word, i hear you, plenty of variation between DS runs. could be a good or bad thing depending on if you know what youre looking for. i dont have the arm for them so it doesnt affect me any.
