Changes for 2014 NEDGC

Hello All,

Just want to let everyone know of some of the changes coming to the NEDGC for 2014.

    * The event will be held the weekend of October 4th and 5th. It has not been finalized which day will be NEDGC event. The location for 2014 NEDGC will be in central MA. Courses are still be determined.

    * There will be a single point of contact for all invites. Patrick DiCaprio is taking this on and assistance will be provided as we get closer to the invite period.

    * Minimum number of events played to attend NEDGC has been set at 3 events.

    * Instead of limiting players to only compete for points in their home region, players can compete in other regions and earn points that go towards their regional invite. This will encourage players to travel outside of their region, since they still earn points towards their NEDGC invite.

    * In Spring 2014, a bid process will begin to select the 2015 location for NEDGC. The bid process will promote locales and clubs to step up and raise the caliber of the event and offerings. It would be great to see a fly-mart, banquet, season awards ceremony, etc. Having the bid process will allow a location to raise the bar to try to win the bid.

Changes should be sweet!

If you guys want a Fly Mart, I am more than willing to participate in it, whether it be as a representative of Pure FLight or just me digging some sweet plastic out of my stash.
Let me know if this is a sure thing. I'm positive that we could round up a few more guys to sell some plastic as well.

if only THREE events are needed to qualify for NEDGC, can that be reflected on the standings.

currently, you are "highlighted" after 5 events. I get that you are still calculating the standings
based on 5 events but really if you only need three, then shouldn't it just be three?
5 becomes arbitrary. and maybe 3 is too few?

From what I understand, three is what is needed to qualify for NEDGC and that is reflected in the "Regional Standings" from which those invitations are derived. Five (or four or six depending on division) is the minimum to qualify for the overall points standings payout, which is a separate deal.
