I'm looking for disc golfers who are residents of Waltham. I'd like to add a resident or two to the team to help strengthen the proposal. Looking for people who are serious about a long term commitment to the planning (and hopefully if all works out, construction) of this project. Dedication and reliability are key. Rif raf need not apply.
PM me if you're interested.

Also an interesting story:

Read the comments section. Some good signs, some bad. It was decided that a golf course at this particular property would have a negative impact on a sensitive ecosystem, so its obvious that conservation is on the fore-front of the minds of decision makers in this community.

Re: Prospect Hill Park - Waltham
Jay, I don't live in Waltham anymore, but I do still own a condo there. So if you want to list me, as a Waltham property owner (if that means anything), let me know. But I won't be able to commit to helping in any significant manner, maybe if you do get an audience in front of a committee I could help out. You can search pdga membership by city, maybe you could cold-call the 2 people listed as members from Waltham.
As great as Prospect Hill would be, the Met State property would be INCREDIBLE.
good luck

I've hit too many people at the Arsenal in Watertown, but living 1 mile from Waltham with a lady friend who works in Waltham, I'd be interested in building any grassroots campaigns

Re: Prospect Hill Park - Waltham
Hello, I'm a first-time poster here and new to disc golf this year. I've been playing as much as possible trying to improve my skills, and I've definitely become addicted to the sport. My go-to course right now is Borderland.
I live in Watertown. While I can't say I'm a Waltham resident, I'd be a local that would be happy to help in any way if you need any volunteers to move this along!

Re: Prospect Hill Park - Waltham
I looked into this location years ago. I believe it was a former ski-hill a long way back.
I did my due diligence and approached the "Friends of Prospect Hill Park" who seem to
have the biggest voice and most pull. They were not interested. At all.
This was probably 6 years ago.
Disc Golf has grown tremendously since then. And the board has likely changed.
Its a perfect location given the proximity to highways and Boston.
And inside of 128!

I'm was working on this solo until I found this thread. Anyone have a status update?
Re: Prospect Hill Park - Waltham
No idea what is going on but these guys seem to be in charge: http://www.walthamlandtrust.org
Honestly, Prospect Hill looks like a dead end; there's so much construction in the area that they are fighting a holding action and are willing to die on that hill (I exaggerate only slightly). There are no facilities on site and IIRC there was an unsuccessful push to close all walking trails due to proximity to vernal pools. I don't think they want anything but frogs and Eastern Salamanders there. If anyone knows differently please speak up.
Beaver Brook is run by DCR and may be a more fruitful avenue - at least they have a history of working with disc golf (Borderland) and have a maintenance budget. There's also the old Metropolitan State hospital but the developers are circling the carcass. I'm a Waltham homeowner/voter/taxpayer now so count me in on any dg course planning.
EDIT: This is the "Western Greenway" showing some of the areas I mentioned above
