NEFA Points Rules

Post by Greg McWilliams »

Hi,

This is my second year of being a part of NEFA and I am very excited for the points series. That being said I am finding it quite difficult to find a comprehensive set of rules for the NEFA point series. Can anyone point me to a link that explains invites, rules, how points are calculated and the like? I trust that for tournament play we use the PDGA rules book (which I have read) but I want more information on NEFA.

Thanks,
Greg

If you go to the NEFA home page, find the drop down menu for the Point Series. You will see a link to the Point Series Charter

Yup the charter link is on the left of that page.

I don't think it explains how the points are calculated but I'd bet there's an explanation on this forum somewhere.

Points calculation is relatively simple.

100 divided by the number of players in a division gives you the points factor. Multiply the points factor by (place finished - 1). Take that and subtract it from 100 to determine the points for each place. First place gets 100 points plus a bonus of one tenth of a point for each person beaten in the division.

For example...
25 players in a division. 100/25 = 4
1st place --> 100 + (25 X 0.1) = 102.5 points
3rd place --> (3 - 1) X 4 = 8 --> 100 - 8 = 92 points
12th place --> (12 - 1) X 4 = 44 --> 100 - 44 = 56 points
25th place --> (25 - 1) X 4 = 96 --> 100 - 96 = 4 points
DNF --> 0 points

The standings are determined based on the sum of each players top X individual event point totals. X being different depending on division as explained in the Charter.
