There's a new course coming to Vernon. Everything is already approved and funded we just need to get to work on it. We'll be trying to get volunteers soon to help with clearing fairways. Most of the course is in the woods so its going to be a lot of work.If you want volunteer let me know. A big thank you to Clayton Davidson for starting work on the course already by himself.

I'm down. Where's the location? Anywhere near Risley Res. or Box Mountain/Tunnel Road?

A little late notice, but i will be working on the course tomorrow Thursday, if anyone would like to help out shoot me a text (860)719-2867. Big thanks to all those that have helped so far. Rudy, Chase, Alto, Eric D., and of course Jaypro. Even my brother Randy and Eric's son Hunter have lent a hand. Things are moving along nicely, some more help could make it move even faster

Played Vernon this morning on our way to Wick......lots of clearing (in record time I understand), some holes reminded me of Devens and some holes reminded me of Crane but a unique layout all the same......easy walking and nice elevation changes.......well thought out layout, nice job Jay and crew.....always appreciative to have another free course to play......Yo Claydog, where were you Eric?

I lost a glow GRWO Aviar. If anybody comes across it PLEASE drop me a line. Love that disc!
Course is great by the way guys. I agree with the above post, it reminds me of Devens, which was my favorite course I played this summer. Tricky hilly shots = way fun!

Jay - congrats. Heard about this course last weekend and will get down to play it soon. I will have to contend the claim of the quickest course build though. We started The General at Devens Sept. 28, 2013 and opened Nov. 23, 2013, before Thanksgiving. You must have a great crew down there. Looks great!! More good courses. We only had old army debris and potential unexploded ordinances to deal with - no human remains.

Played the course this past Saturday. Great job on the course. I like the elevation changes. Although my friend complained that the course is partial to RHBH? The only "down side" is the location of the 17's basket and the tee box for 18 relative to the area that the cars park for kiddie soccer. My friend and I were putting on 17 and a soccer mom actually drove in and parked a foot away from the basket...as I putt. Lucky for her the putt went in. She had no clue what the basket was.
I realize the disc golf will lose out to soccer, but can the Town put up "No Parking" signs around those areas? Or can the holes be reconfigured?

I have talked to the town about no parking signs. I put up some temporary ones up where people were parking on 18's tee. Didn't think anyone would park where 17's basket. Signs will be made. I'm not changing the hole because some lazy soccer mom can't park in the parking lot.

I just got out of a 2hr meeting....mostly about lazy soccer parents parking wherever they want to. lol.
Nice job on the course guys it's fun and a good workout, can't wait to play it again when it's not 90 out. As far as Mike's comments about the righty backhand favorable. Some of those holes that go left to right actually setup better for a lhbh. The lines are open enough that a lefty can actually get more distance out of the shot. I though the balance was ok...not perfect but good. The standard approach to course design for a lot of places is to stand where u think the tee is going to be, throw a righty hyzer or a flat shot and put a basket there....you can tell they didn't do that. There are a few that could be tweeked a little, but nothing major really needs to move in my opinion. A few of the shots just feel kinda like the same thing you just did, and some of the holes where the baskets are a bit off to the left at the end of the fairway could have been left as a straight shot, but that's not a huge concern......if a lefty or forehand player reaches it they are gonna make the putt anyway (7 for example). Overall a great job and nice to have another course I can drive to in a short amount of time. Thanks for putting in all of that time and effort.

There was a very nice article in today's Journel Inquirer about the ribbon cutting ceremony at the course. Good job everyone!

I left a disc on 18 and I am really hoping it comes back. It's an old well worn blue champ Orc. Whoever returns it will achieve full enlightenment....so you got that going for you.

Just played here a couple of times this past week. Love the course, great job guys!
Love the downhill finesse shots where the baskets are just over the crest of a hill. Very short, yet very difficult to deuce without a really good release. Overall, there's a great mix of hole types and difficulties.....I'll be playing there a lot once flypads are in.
I noticed there's a public garden in the parking area that might come into play for errant shots by new players. (and occasionally not new players

) The future may call for a sign (maybe near 17's teepad is in order), to notify casuals to be careful and mindful where they step if they are retrieving their discs from the garden area..... I wouldn't want to see people who have planted gardens getting pissed off at us disc golfers in general, especially in the spring time when seeds are planted but the ground still looks like just a bunch of dirt.
