In November 2013, The Foundation hosted Rafflepalooza at Flat Rock and raised over $1600. We then turned around and gave 6 DISCatcher Pro baskets, 25 DX discs and the EDGE curriculum to the Gateway Regional School (1,200 students between K-12).
In October 2014, we intend to host another Rafflepalooza event at Flat Rock, and donate another "pocket course" to a local school or park system. In the future, we would like to take this event on the road --- hosting tournaments in different locations within New England with a school already earmarked to receive a "pocket course" free of charge. TD's from each region can put our Board of Directors in touch with schools that they think can benefit from a 3-6 hole course. Once the location is secured, tournaments will be announced so all players know who will be benefiting from their charitable giving.
As our Board of Directors meets soon (Chris Barden, Ed Faits, Andy Neal, Brian Giggey, Zeena Hutchinson), we encourage you to attend and let your voice be heard in where the next "pocket course" recipient could be. A round of disc golf is typically included in our meetings
The Explore Disc Golf Foundation is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to promote disc golf by donations of direct services and "pocket course" to schools and park systems. We hope you will consider playing in The Foundation's Rafflepalooza tournament this fall. Thank you to Ed Faits for your countless hours of help on this project.
