Window of opportunity is closing
Just wanted to let NEFA land know that Royalston Fish and Game is FREE to play till January of this year.
The place has evolved so far from an idea and a plot of land in the forrest
We still have many items to crush tees, better signage, etc etc
But overall the course is playing alright considering its infancy and small work crew banging it out
I would love for some of you peeps to come on out and give some feedback, good bad makes no difference I would love to hear all your opinions
We will be making a push for tees and crushing the punch list so we can extract to the next project this winter
The par is set at 59 with 3 par 4's and a par 5
The layout is semi uphill and has some challenging fun shots
There will be no formal event till next season, so take a day trip up and enjoy the new kid on the block in the TullyRock region
hope to see some of you out there

beginning or end of January? I assume you mean 2015? Is there a DG only option or do you have to join the club? How much?

Re: Window of opportunity is closing
And fun!
Back nine is real cool. A couple changes took place since the inaugural opening Titan had early this spring, so I'm still working on the front.
My son, cousin and my daughter and her friend played a round a month ago, we got hit by rain halfway through, but the boys liked the back nine more, even though it was raining. (front nine there was a little more brush to maneuver through).
I second Titan's call out. Come and play!

Re: Window of opportunity is closing
I played it last week, and some of the back nine holes are true beauties, like seriously stopped looked and just soaked in the goodness. Dont recall all the numbers but one of the pins set out by the power lines sitting on a stone green was just awesome i think i even took a pic of it. A couple of holes were just tough to see off the tee, didnt really know where to throw but better signage will help with that. Hole 18 felt like i was just throwing into the woods blindly, just trying to follow blue ribbons and eventually finding the hole, but Guy mentioned more work needed to be done there. So overall i truly enjoy this course and will likely go there instead of Tully once teepads are in. Great work guys, enough cant be said about the warriors that bust out courses without you the sport would be lost.

Re: Window of opportunity is closing
my 2nd favorite green on the course
those ferns will be whacked soon entire front has already been whacked
your right the back 9 is rural beauty
18 has been a struggle we will have it in a headlock soon making it tap out
the more play the quicker trails will break in helping with directions
better signage soon
speaks alot when someone already is thinking of rfg over tully
glad the few whp have played are enjoying
the amenities for an event are unmatched maybe even nefaland wide
it is rewarding hard work bringing a new course to the dg world
we just want you all to check it out

also the powelines are old rustic style not taking away from the beauty but rather adding an old school new England touch
we used them very nicely in 4 spots as to not overdo the feel but mix the terrain of the wooded course up

Re: Window of opportunity is closing
I've got a backyard woodsy course, with lots of fern. In the beginning I mowed all of it down, but it is continually growing back. Last year I started to leave clumps here and there (mostly around rocks/stumps I didn't want to hit with the mower) and to tell the truth, clumps of ferns look really nice. I use small bunches to line my fairways and whack the rest.
So some ferns around the rocks along that green would add a touch of artistry.
just sayin'....
Titan, I have some white plastic scrap; I could whip up some 'next tee' signs for you, just give me a nod and they're done.

Re: Window of opportunity is closing
Signage is always great, but there is a clay pigeon at the base of each basket in the direction of the next tee. Problem is, most people may never realize that. Also, they could get moved inadvertently. Maybe we should line up three in the right direction, more noticeable.

Re: Window of opportunity is closing
cool,
we went with laminated signs..but the issue was the small pin holes to attach caused leakage...and then more issues
I am gonna seek a club memeber(s) for a kinda flatrock style arts craft project..I love those and ain't afraid to copy them...take that franchi lol flattery
that said next tee signs are welcomed though
since today major progress in regards to tees has happened as I finally made contact with the person delegated to help us with them from the club...this weekend the plan will be formulated
Guy has a home all natural remedy for ferns we are gonna explore...also Karl said ditterman had issues at wick and ya gotta get em before they breed for season...
they are the kind that are not too bad to find disc in...
and yes they add a nice touch so some will be left for a nice touch..if they behave and dont spread
looks like once a year whacking will surfice though to keep em under control and only about 6 holes there is an issue
super pumped about the tee phase forth coming
Paul,
dodge has a great point about those...people will smash them eventually...
signage is always the last thang IMO that should be finalized as the course is still seeing changes...
we will get it marked out nice eventually and again once trail is broken it will help mucho

I was thinking more arrows; I will add countersunk screw holes, and you could put them on crappy pine trees along the way. just let me know

RFG RULES, I LOVE IT! TEAM CHALLENGE HOME MATCHES WILL BE EPIC!
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.
