Had a great time this year and enjoyed playing golf with some really great guys, but since the PROs are playing Sunday, I choose to decline. Good luck to all!

Re: 2014 NEDGC Invites - Pro Side
Yeah right ... was just told that I can't play even though I played in 4 NEFA events. I didn't know that my decision to play AM at an A-tier wouldn't count towards a NEFA event and my membership wasn't up to date for my first event of the season. Oh well, looks like saving NEFA thousands in legal fee's counts for nothing ... karma does not exist after all

Re: 2014 NEDGC Invites - Pro Side
Morning,
Will their be any extra spots opened in the pro side on sunday? I want to play! I played three Nefa events Two as Pro GrandMaster and one as Pro Open . The last event being Rindge, I felt like I would be sand bagger if I Didn't play Open. I thought the object was to play up to the competition, to become the best you can be.
Peace Frank-o

We are talking about it more, however, if we decide to allow anyone with 3 NEFA events to play (regardless of division that they played in) we will need to review it for all players. That could change the invites and waitlist, etc.

In true NEFA fashion as of late. Lets just forget about the rules that everyone knew about and change it as we go ???

Re: 2014 NEDGC Invites - Pro Side
It was decided that we will be sticking to the three event qualification as originally intended, and no additional invites will be made beyond that. Sorry Rob, Frank, and anyone else this may have impacted.
Re: 2014 NEDGC Invites - Pro Side
Sorry isn't quite cutting it, considering that I played 4 NEFA events this year that I carefully planned out so that I would qualify (or so I thought) for NEFA finals. 3 of the tourney's I played were in Pro Masters, 1 was in Am Masters at an A-tier. I paid my $40 NEFA membership albeit a week or so late but it was paid nonetheless ... wondering what that got me really because all I wanted to do was a chance to play finals.
Fine ... so be it, consider this the last time I pay NEFA anything as it's given me nothing but grief in return. Sorry but that's the way it's been - true story.

Re: 2014 NEDGC Invites - Pro Side
Rules and Qualifications exist for a reason (right or wrong)
3 events - same division (much easier than 5 or 6 in the past)
If NEFA starts making exceptions for one, all should get that benefit.
It's a slippery slope and I appreciate them not changing for one.
We all know we have to be a member before you play a tournament too.
That has not changed in my 10 years of membership.
If you are going to be a member, support the organization, don't knock it down.
My statement of 'support' applies to the public rant. It's negative press.
Rant here all you want, its the place for it. Exposing the issues helps resolve them.
I think NEDGC is very much a work in progress.

Support the organization ... ha, I won't even start.
I've seen exceptions made before for lesser reasons but apparently one couldn't have been made here. I know the rules now that they've been spelled out clearly ... I wasn't clear that playing as and AM at an A-tier was going to cost me, if I had known I would have played Pro and gotten my ass kicked even worse than I did in AM - that's how badly I wanted to play in this event. Playing in it and winning it last year was one of the best times I've ever had against the very best competition. I wish my schedule this summer had allowed for me to pad my tourney's played but it was what it was. Nevermind, I didn't want to make this about me so I'll just go away but really? Support the organization ... sadly that just makes me laugh.

Re: 2014 NEDGC Invites - Pro Side
Rob, you're one of the most likable guys in all of NEFA. You've clearly put more time and effort into NEFA than 90+% of the members. But buddy, face it--you made a mistake. You had all season to check both the Series Standings and the Regional Standings to see that no NEFA points were officially credited to you until the Blueberry Jam. And that rule's there for a reason--could you imagine the hassle trying to play catch-up to all the members in arrears all season if there were no penalty? And Rick Williams is at almost every NEFA event to facilitate the players who forgot to re-up their membership.
You could have taken that up with any of the powers that be at that time. And if re-buffed, you could have made it up at some point later in the season.
At Beauty Hill, you even told me that you had to stay in MPM to get the points when I tried to create the possibility of us playing together in MPO. Hell, I had no clue until this morning that I could have qualified for NEDGC if I played MPM that day because I was under the impression it was the same 5 event minimum the season series has--not just 3. A costly mistake for me as well.
It isn't NEFA's fault. And ripping the organization is bad form when they did nothing wrong. The guys who spend a lot of their valuable time putting this together (just as YOU did when you were president) don't deserve it. Just as you didn't deserve the crap you took from a few whiny, squeaky-wheeled d-bags when you were president.
Live and learn. Take a deep breath, forgive and forget, and skip the ultimatums. Both you and NEFA will have a better 2015 together than apart.

Re: 2014 NEDGC Invites - Pro Side
I could see if there were, ACTUALY, 35 people that shared Robs circumstance. I highly doubt that is the case. Rob has done a lot for NEFA. How many tournaments have we played in where, at the players meeting all the rules and guidelines are spelled out, announced, questions asked and answered, yet during one of, if not both rounds someone in the group finds themselves in a situation that needs a group call or a decision to be made about a shot in question ? Rules don't solve everything or make things fair just because they exist.
I agree that if one benefits, all should. I just have a hard time thinking that there is a large number of folks in the same boat. If I am wrong so be it, wont be the first or last time. It seems that Rob is making a reasonable request.
I don't know Rob personally, I have no stake in this. It just seems like it's reasonable. If he hadn't played any tournaments and wanted to play finals, that clearly makes no sense. If the tourney doesn't fill, why not let him play ? If it does, then sure, "Sorry man, it's full of folks who qualified", is reasonable also. No one likes to hear no, sometimes its the only response. I just simply don't see the benefit of a black and white no here.
My .02 of unsolicited advice.

It is a slippery slope...no real "benefit" from the decision, but rather the preservation of the rule as it is currently worded, thus preserving precedent and avoiding controversy. The NEFA BOD is made up of fair and equitable personalities and they're just trying to do what's right based on the rules....certainly no malicious intent here. Right is certainly not always fair Personally, I like stability and consistency when it comes to rules and enforcement thereof, it makes my job easier
Perhaps there should be a clause added into the current charter when it comes to qualifying for the finals...some kind of retro-invite for those who do did not renew membership in time if its not sold out or some other type of contingency plan to address this.

Very well put Andrew and Stew. I don't think there's anybody involved in this sport that doesn't want to see Rob at Finals but the organization has to follow through with the rules and regulations set forth or else risk losing its credibility. In the long term it's the right decision, albeit really unfortunate. As Andrew has suggested the best that the organization can do is to add something in the rules that would allow for invites to be altered based on particular criteria.
