2014 NEDGC Invites - Am Side

Posted below are the invites for the Am Side of the 2014 NEDGC. There were a total of 144 players that met the 3 event minimum to qualify for the event.

The Ams will play at Maple Hill on Saturday October 4th. Please confirm your attendance by preregistering for the event. To guarantee your spot, you must preregister by Wednesday October 1st at Noon. If you have not registered by that time, your invite will be offered to the next applicable person on the waitlist. You will still be eligible for the Day Of Waitlist on the morning of the event.

90 of the 144 qualified players are being offered the initial invites. The remaining players have automatically been placed on the event waitlist. If a player declines their invite, a player will be invited from the waitlist. Invites from the waitlist will replace the declining player's division/region first. So in an Intermediate player from CT declines, the next qualified intermediate player from CT will get the invite. If there are no players from the same division/region remaining on the waitlist, the invite will be distributed to another qualified player.

You may only play in the division that you qualified for. If you qualified for more than one division, the choice is left up to the player.

If you plan on declining your invite, please post here or PM me so we can plan accordingly.

I expect a lot of movement from the waitlist, so if you did not get an invite yet there is still a good chance it will come later in the week.

Thanks Matt. I'll be playing Sunday, not Saturday so that frees up a spot for the wait list.

Can't make it, as much as I'd like to.

Why isnt this grouped by either region or division? Or better yet both?

Agreed Trent, making this list first grouped by state then divisional makes a lot of sense. Then you could use yellow font for the players names who are invited with black font for the players qualified but currently "waitlisters" (so people know who the waitlisters are and how far back they are from getting invited). You could change each name from yellow to red who decline, names yellow to green who accept, and then change waitlisters to yellow if they now have an invite. Just an idea to keep everyone in the loop to what is going on in 1 spot (invites, yes's, no's, and waitlisters). Just a suggestion (not purposeful criticism), I recognize I have done 0 work towards this.

I re-sorted by Region, then Division. I don't have the Am waitlist so I couldn't add it into the mix.

Patrick said the invite list will get updated on a Google sheet to easily sort and share. Thanks for all the ideas on how to make it easier to view.

So the people that Qualified as an AM and Pro get an invite to both? Shouldnt they only get an invite to the higher division?

Invite post is updated with a Google Doc of all the invites. You should have the ability to filter and sort.

Where is the wait list? You would think that with all of the years NEFA has been doing this there would be a system in place. Why are we going through this every year?

Do we know what layout(s) we are playing on Saturday?

I'm headed to maple on Tuesday and would like to practice a layout that we are playing.

Thanks and really looking forward to this!

Wait listers will be updated tomorrow. There is a system in place. Are you curios to know if you're on the waitlist specifically?

No, I personally have no interest in playing finals. Invites should go up by the Tuesday after the last event (48 hours after the event). It should be rolled out broken into divisions and regions with players qualifying on both the AM side and Pro side ONLY getting an invite on the Pro side. Just like the charter says. Finals has been going on for a long time and I would expect it to be better organized and laid out for the members. Last year it was up to the state reps to come up with their own way of deciding who got invites. Maybe I am expecting too much but I dont think so.

You sure do expect a lot for NOT being interested.

I am not interested in playing. I expect things to go smoother from year to year and processes to get improved on. It has been at least a week to send invites for the last five years. There are close to a dozen NEFA volunteers so I dont understand why this takes so long when NEFA has the report for the last event within 48 hours. Its pretty sad that the organization isnt moving forward.

Maybe don't bitch about NEFA all year and avoid making your 30 person tournaments NEFA sanctioned just to turn around and whine about something you don't even plan to participate in. If your expectations aren't being met, why don't you volunteer and show us the way Trent?

I registered and indicated I was going to the players party when I'm unsure if I am or not depends on my carpool mates. I hope that was the right call.

Do we know the layout we're gonna be playing yet? I don't want to complain but that is something that should be announced with the invites.

EDIT: Nevermind I see they were posted in the other thread.

I put in three years as a rep and the scheduler. I decided not to run this year because of issues I wont air on the board. My point is a very valid one regardless of what you want to say about my tournaments.

Trent as I said to you and many others in person, had you made your tournament NEFA sanctioned the sign-ups would have nearly doubled. You didn't want to because funk NEFA right? You are complaining about something that doesn't affect you, done by an organization that you are quite vocal about not agreeing with anything they do. Do you think you are being helpful? Is this a misunderstanding and you are just trying to help make it run better by offering no suggestions?

You are opening your mouth without reading. I have offered solutions in every post and am curious as to why the system that I tried to put in place and my ideas fell on deaf ears. I am disenchanted with what has happened and maybe I expect too much from an organization that is run by volunteers. But with at least a decade I would think that results could get posted in a timely fashion and the same way not a different way and different speed each year.

You're right Trent, there were a couple suggestions in one of your posts, my bad.

Would the Finals running as smoothly as you expected have changed how you felt about making tournaments NEFA or no?

I have said it before and will say it again. If there is a demand I will do it. I didnt do it last weekend because it was a fundraising event and I didnt want to take more money from the players. Next year that event will be a NEFA event and part of the Dam series. I would like to see things run smoothly and efficiently. That is all I am trying to say. It is tough to portray that over text.
