Otter Brook Front 9

Post by Bob Johnson »

I am proud to announce that we have 9 gorgeous Tees built at Otter Brook. While there is some work to finish on front 9 (and there always will be ) we are now going to be looking ahead to our back 9 and making Otter Brook one of the the top courses in NH if not New England.

Dozens of people helped out this summer, with people traveling hours to help us out (Tony and Drew..thanks). I do want to give a shout out to couple in particular. There is no way this happens without Rob Breckenridge. The amount of time he has given to Otter Brook over the last 3 years is mind boggling (maybe we should thank his wife!!!). The other is my son Gally Johnson. I don't know many 17 year olds that would volunteer the time that he has to make the course the gem it is today. He went to every work day, helped in the background, did what whatever was asked of him and never complained. These two men were absolute driving forces this summer.

Final tee, we now have 9 10x5 leveled Fly18 pads!!!

Included in the Kudos, should also be Bob, he organized and TD'd 2 tournaments this year that brought in decent revenue to the club and also gave Otter Brook excellent exposure to a broad player base, Bob also makes workdays and shares my passion for this course.

Mark Bonner, Titan, Derek Decoste the NEFA family and ACOE also deserve a shout out. My wife is beyond patient with my obsession and I love her dearly for it.

I am adjusting to not going it alone anymore, but all in all I am proud of KDGC and what we have accomplished, we are not without our growing pains but I am confident we will have the back 9 playable by this time next year.
I'd be a lot better if those trees didn't get in the way.

I also want to throw there out how much the NEFA grant helped get us going this summer. I read a lot about the organizational short comings NEFA on the boards…and it may all be true, BUT NEFA was also instrumental in taking a backwoods 9 hole with dead sticks marking tees, to the best 9 hole course around and soon to be top notch 18 hole course. Its amazing what a difference that grant meant for us. Now we have our own fundraising rolling and are in great shape to tackle the back 9 on our own.

I just want people to remember that next time they have a beef with what NEFA does. Not perfect, but Keene Disc Golf is grateful for what they did for us.

We got a good start on burning the brush piles that separate holes 3 and 7, will make a big difference and just look nicer.
