Otter Brook Solstice Scrambles - Only 2 Team slots left!

Post by Bob Johnson »

Dec 21st!!
Pretty sure you are going to need a break from Christmas madness!! This is going to be teams of 3 scrambles. We are encouraging teams to include someone new to disc golf but its not mandatory. We will be playing two rounds of 9 on the Otter Brook "A tees. Your entry fee will include automatic entry into Ace Pot. All players will get pint glass, hand warmers, hot lunch and trophies for top 3 teams. There may be a few other goodies in there also. No cash payout. Any money left over goes to funding Otter Brook back 9. Be prepared to play in cold and/or with snow cover.

Breck-Drew and Ryan Keefe are the early favorites, who wants some of this dream team?

Walked the course and did a pickup this morning, she is in pretty good shape, no ribbons needed at the moment. It is slippery in spots, watch your step on the inclines and declines!

Ok...I'm gonna ask for clarification on this now rather than the players meeting.

Which interpretation of the doubles (triples) rules are we using? Everyone on the team HAS to play from the same lie. Or do players have the option of playing from a different lie, discounting prior throw(s) as having been played from an incorrect lie as it appears most people around here seem to play?

Hi Troy,
Awesome that you are signed up for this, looks like a solid team! I'll defer to Bob on this as he is TD, What is your preference? What is the general consensus amongst players you hang with? My personal preference is we all play from the same lie after determing which of the shots is best, interested in what others think. I am glad you brought this up now as opposed to the players meeting. See you Sunday!

My preference is the same as yours. I think everyone should play from the same lie, but that is NOT how most people seem to interpret the rules...including Chuck Kennedy, much to my surprise. Which is why I'm asking.

Can't wait for Sunday!

I first saw playing from preferred lie at Wrigtsville in VT and it was fine, but I found even with Dubz that it got confusing who was throwing from where. It may be fine in local leagues where everyone knows everyone, but I think playing Tripz, with lots of new people we are better off sticking with local "rules" which would be the team playing from "best" lie as decided on by the group.

yeah, Ladroga rips up Otter Brook, parked #10 for that holes 1st birdie. It was a fun day and raised some decent $ for the back 9.
