Otter Brook 2015: The legend continues

After a very productive 2014 which produced permanent tee pads for the front 9, the formation of a solid core group of Keene Disc Golf Club members and four successful tournaments under our belt, we have our sites aimed high for this season. At last night's monthly meeting we laid the groundwork and "master plan" for our upcoming year. For those interested,Check out the link for meeting minutes which goes into the fine details. Huge thanks to all who have helped with this massive undertaking, the list is long but you know who you are and we love you for it.

I am working on some cool stuff again for the Otter Brook Open. Four, maybe five, temp holes. Cant wait to get up there soon and see how the back nine will play

It will be awesome, and thanks again for all your support and effort you put into this sport. Can you imagine a 54 hole tourney, 18 on the original layout, and 9 of the temp holes used last year including the "beach shot" 2 rounds of 27, that would be EPIC!

yes it would be

that back nine is cool and the front is looking amazing and its been awhile for me can only imagine

just so it's archived and maybe bob can make mental note as well
revisit hole 17's design,IMO it sucks and can easily be made better w/o any negative affect on rest of design or hole 18 connection

cant wait for a spring trip up, finally looking like warmer weather down here

hopefully we can log some hours up here this summer as well to help the push for first cut to be done

If a chainsaw and laborer crushed through I think things will go quickly
leaving safer, less laborer intensive task to finish up holes

then crews or people on freetime could just pick away
within that cut the road gets cleared and tees could be started late summer/fall if wanted as you could drive to four of them and possibly 10.11 as well not sure if that road has access though behind volunteer camp site didn't appear to but might have just looked soggy cuz its spring...how did you do 9's tee? you guys are nuts

then 17,18 tees could be next year esp if ranger put that culvert and gravel in on lower 18's exit

boom 18 donzo

was fun working out there

9 teepad was rugged, we loaded 5 gallon buckets with crushed stone, and then shur pak, drove them out to route 9, then carried them in from the highway! Come to think of it, that's how we did most holes, nothing easy about building a course, that's why I'm so jacked 8-)

I love the support, but it might be tight with mother's day and what not, let me check and see what's up with the crew, I am never going to turn away any help, that being said, I would love to work on this systematically and proceed to #13 as the next one that gets hit. I learned this the hard way, hitting holes somewhat willy nilly on the front 9 and not thoroughly finishing one before starting another, I may skip league Sunday and just work myself, will let you know where we are at soon.

A crew would be cool but rock n roll beast duo will crush it

Figure hole 13 has huge huge trees
Once past that hole smaller saws can handle

awesomeness, there has been a lot more playing than working, that's the drawback of having a really sweet front 9

Will be a bit before I can personally get back to ob Sunday's

Va, Tully, her work and family is coming up

That said not sure what other half of rock n roll plans is
Apparently I am roll cuz I get hurt every other week and guy always brings the rock

But anyways

With new chipper info coming to light

I think it when time allows to start clearing of road
It will help so much with any future work
I would suggest if walking up to stack butt ends out in manageable piles all to left so chips can be sprayed right preventing them from being wasted flying down that left grade

The road once cleared will account for
25% hole 14
60% hole 15

It will encourage workers imo and give a clear visible line of sight for work as holes are crushed

Holes 16/17 will be so simple compared to rest
Hole 18 will have a pack of beavers on it to close the deal and keep with the beaver spirit of that poor sacrificed guy
Wonder if the otters were making a statement lol

So basically if your efforts are focused on back nine I understand the desire to go in order please trust me on that road being first priority

I honestly feel bad about the five gallon pails for tees
I knew you dudes were in for hell but if you succeeded I also knew ob would see rapid evolution

Overall snh has such an exciting vibe right now and it has been awesome to been involved

I can't wait to play 18 there with you, others who have busted arse out there

I believe gratitude is an action, to show my gratitude, I wailed on the access path this afternoon, making it much easier for you guys to get in, 8-) it is not done yet but you can drive in a lot closer than before, that path is going to KEY in terms of accessing and installing pads, baskets and chipping.

Guy and I pounded that path today, it goes all the way to 15's teepad, Double bonus that the path is also the fairway of 15. 14 will go quick as the natural seem is already there. KDGC will be ordering baskets soon, once we get enough $$$

Thank you for having me
A lot of good was accomplished today
Turning a pole laden forest into a lovely fairway/road was inspiring
Thank you for the therapy

the pleasure was mine, I feel you made good progress in today's session, but you will need many more sessions before you are fully cured. Sitting by a beautiful brook listening to nature is top notch therapy, if more people realized this, I'd be out of a job.

Wow just wow

Looks amazing

I leave today for VA
Seeing the road has been cleared is therapy to me as well
Finally being able to release my neurotic brain of that pole tree ridden road is awesome

Been three years of pinging that picture in my head great to see thoughts become things

Does southwick realize what that statement has done for course expansion.. Some of us actually follow those words as if it were holy gospel

Once holes 14-16 are roughed in my brain will really be in good shape

Now if tees at RFG get started and Gardner gets flagged this year I may actually see the light at the end of this long dark vision that literally has captured my thought process for years now

So thanks not only for busting your assesss and blazing forward on behalf of the dg god's distance, line, and height
But for seriously improving the quality of my life by cleansing my mind

Maybe I can crush the felt this summer and fall now renewing some resources that are almost dried up

I can't make a work day till late June or early July
I can't wait to see what reality brings to lagoon hole and hole 16

Just make sure to keep that nice funnel effect on 16 leading to green literally we want a wall on both sides of opening

And if you get creative juices revisit hole 17 and 18's tee
I think we can do better but will say when I checked it out did seem alright

18's green has to go where it is... Just remember to line exit up with that old gravel culvert access road to main road...you could almost cut trail to green first as it has to go there

Thanks and keep the pictures coming as this progresses

UPDATE: Hole 15 is popping, holy crap there was sooo much pole sawing, the green is gorgeous, slightly sloped and surrounded by a vernal pool on the left, will be raking and manicuring green today, Hole 14 gets punched tomorrow. Then it's 16,17 and 18. Bam, OB is a legit 18!
