Earl Cup XVIII - 10/10/15 - FLATROCK
Some of the 2015 Earl Cup Details have been worked out.
This will be taking place at Flatrock Disc Golf Course on 10/10/15. The teams are made up of 10 Open roster spots and 2 women spots. I will once again be fielding the NEFA team using the NEFA standings and captains picks. Some people have already sent me a message to let me know they are interested in representing NEFA and taking the cup back! If you are interested, shoot me a PM or email and I will add you for consideration.

It was at Barre Falls in 2006 (compliments of President Hart), so it's not like it's the first time we've been in that neck of the woods.
I think Flat Rock is a great choice as our venue. Can't wait to get out there.

Kyle Moriarty
Jim Wills
Jay Nourse

Hey Dodge...the "must be a NEFA member" thing only applies to one of the teams.
Our roster is all set for the moment, but I wouldn't rule out adding a lefty with intimate knowledge of the host course if we find ourselves a body short come October.

Team will be formed after this week. I've already started to reach out to people at the top of the standings to confirm that if they remain there, they would be interested. Shaping up to be a great team looking to take back the cup!

Re: Earl Cup XVIII - 10/10/15 - FLATROCK
Amongst the stuff that got lost was my annual post of the history/origins of the Earl Cup, so it follows below.
Still hammering out the last couple spots for our squad, so I'll hold off on revealing our full roster for now.
The Earl Cup originated in 1998 when Bob Enman challenged the NEFA President to put together a roster to compete in a Ryder Cup-style team event. The winning team goes home with the Earl Cup trophy, named in honor of Bob's late father Earl, the original owner of Enman Field (back when it was an airstrip).
Each year, the current NEFA President selects the President's team from among NEFA members. Bob Enman and I select the Pilots team from among Dragon Disc Golf Pilots (our club for players who have registered a minimum number of rounds on our courses). This year each 12-person team will consist of two women and ten open (as in unrestricted) spots.
All competition is match play format. Round 1 is Best Shot doubles. Round 2 is Best Score doubles. Round 3 is Singles. Team that wins the most points (1 per match) wins the Cup. In the case of a tie, the defending team retains the Cup.
Earl Cup history:
1998: NEFA win @ Enman Field Beast
1999: NEFA win @ Buffumville Lake
2000: Pilots win @ Enman Field Beast
2001: NEFA win @ Buffumville Lake

2012: NEFA win @ Enman Field Beast
2013: NEFA win @ Hyland Brewery
2014: Pilots win @ Dragan Field
2015: ???????? @ Flatrock
NEFA leads all time 12-5
