2015 Disc Golf Widows & Abandoned Children tournament-9/13

What: The Widows and Abandoned Children
When: 9/13/15
Where:Wickham Park standard 18 hole course
Cost:$20/team

There will once again be a variety of div. to choose from:

Widows (one reg. player and their significant other)
Power Couple (both players play on a somewhat reg. basis)
Children (one player one child, two children, one player child and their non-playing parent)
bro/wo mance (one player one non player that is not a child) this div. is on an as needed basis

All non-player widows,children,non-player parents, and non player bro/wo mance will shoot from alternate (shorter/easy) tees for every hole.

This is a one round 18 hole tournament with a picnic (pot luck) lunch afterwards. Player packs will include glow in the dark mini and Crafty soap.

Any donations for CTP's/players pack/or awards are welcome.

Vegetarian crock pot (chickpea I believe from Crafty)

Case of beer
1/2 case of hard cider
Non-OH drinks (most likely juice and ice tea)

Team Zoro has lost one of the Zoro's because of injury. Mrs Zoro has selected Ian as her husband for the day ( at least on the course) rumor had it that mr Zoro will caddy for the newly weds

We will wait till Owen is 2 to bring him out as an Abandoned child.
Mostly because Sarah has never played a tournament and Grandma and Grandpa are going to babysit the kids.
Please move me up to Widows with Sarah as my partner.
(Maybe next year we'll both play with a kid in the abandoned children division )

Just an idea, since there are 15 teams in the Widows teams. I was thinking about having two diff. Div. within the Widows:


Multi year widow (Widow I)

First or few year widow ( Widow II)

Similar to AM I and AM II

Team Axline will be bringing some rice crispy treats. 2 flavors, Oreo and Funfetti. I have sampled the goods and they are delicious.

Also, will have a few extra beers.

And... A CTP donation. I would like it to be just for the abandoned children.

I left a white Vibram left of the basket on 16. Went back to get it and it was
picked up. Anybody have it? Would like to get it back. Disc Golf community don't let me down.
We had to scoot out early so I do not know if it was turned into the TD.

Wanted to say thank you to Team Crafty for putting together one of the better tournaments I've been to. The tee placement for the ladies helped emphasize their contributions to the team score. Also appreciated the recognition of the first time widows as an encouragement to keep playing and come back next year, something we will definitely do.

The ninth annual DGW&ACI is in the books. This was one of, if not the best , turnout in the history of the event. We had 23 teams (11 being first timers) over 5 divisions. The day started off a little gray and overcast, but the rain stayed away. As the round came to an end the sun came out in a beautiful blue sky just in time for the pot luck picnic. (BIG THANKS to BUC for smiling down upon us)

Big thanks to all of this year’s sponsors and volunteers, Team Crafty could never have done this on our own, it really does take a community.

There were 4-7 CTP prizes for all div. (except for Bro-Mance) -which is too many for me to list. Other awards and prizes were:

*All Abandoned Children received a disc or prize (courtesy of Team Dunlap and OTC) and all first time widows received a disc or prize (courtesy of Team Axline and Team Dunlap)

*Charlie Dunlap received a Capt. America bubble head for the spirit/4 year attendance award.
