2015 NEDGC Presented by Two Roads Brewing Invites - ALL
With one weekend of events left (5!), we've got a preliminary list of invites ready. We'll try to get them into posts, but for now please see this linked Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
There is a tab for each state, and a column for each Division.
Everyone who has the minimum 3 events is listed in their Division/State.
If your name is in GREEN, then you are officially invited, and may register when the link is posted later today (I think). Congrats!
If your name is in BLUE, then you are currently making the cut, but with 5 events left, its not clear enough for an invite, so do not register yet - go get some more points.
If your name is in ORANGE, then you are on the outside looking in, go sign up for Maple Hill XL or Bosquiet this weekend.
It would also be a great help if you know that you won't be attending the NEDGC and your name is in Green or Blue, please reply here, so we can give your spot to the next in line. We'll keep the invites within the same state, but may spread extra invites to other Divisions to keep them fair (for example if 5 Masters can't make it from 1 state, we may move that invite to GM or Adv women or such, so that we are inviting an equal % of players that finished in the top of their division).
We'll update again early next week once all the results from the weekend come in. Feel free to ask any questions. The numbers were all done based on the ratios of players qualified from each state/division.
If you received an invite and will be attending the event, please register now! You must register by Tuesday 9/15 at 10 am in order to secure your shirt size! Otherwise, it will be a first come first serve shirt size at check in.
https://fs22.formsite.com/nefamembershi ... index.html
If you cannot attend the event, but wish to purchase a polo shirt from the event, please go to the online reg link and select the last 'division' option and shirt size. To secure your preferred shirt size register now!

I'm going to try to work with Danny in the off-season, to see if we can make the invite cut-line a real-time calculation during the entire season.Jeff Wiechowski wrote:Thanks for setting this up Bill, WAAAY better than my old school way of manually typing names from all the lists.

Note: the calculations posted above do not include the "Feed the Beast" results, but the ones posted for the standings do. If you think that has affected your place and if you now qualify, PM me, and I can check, but I won't update the invite spreadsheet until the other results from this coming weekend are in.
thanks

Re: 2015 NEDGC Presented by Two Roads Brewing Invites - ALL
I think my main question is how is this in any way, shape or form a 'Championship'? Players from each division are only invited if they are actually top players from a state? There are several divisions where a player with fewer points were invited over a player with more points???
If NEFA is going to do some sort of messed up 'Championship', and I do use this term loosely, have a state championship. Or better yet, just call it what it really is, a State Championship. Then the top players from each state can compete.
You want a spot at the next NEFA Championships?? Move to Maine and pick your division. Your open invitation awaits you. Or better yet, just have a mailing address in Maine.
Here is a list of players that should have made the list because they had earned the points. But because you are all from states with a large population, sorry, we had to make room for others. Had you been from one of the other states with lower participation, you would have been invited.
Pro Grandmaster - Bill Bureau
Pro Women - Wendy Boutin
Amateur Advanced - Jeremy Kozinski, Ian Jarvis, Joseph Gaspardi
Amateur Intermediate - Braxton Showalter, Greg Babineau
Amateur Recreational - Matt Kisil, Jaime Perron
Amateur Master - Greg Cellilli
Amateur Grandmaster - John Rodenhizer
Women Intermediate - Katie Jenkins
NEFA - Where the points don't matter, but where you live does.

Re: 2015 NEDGC Presented by Two Roads Brewing Invites - ALL
It is a representation of the top players from all over New England, representing at the season ending event. The old method of NEFA finals invites resulted in far MORE people from the high population state than any other and was viewed as a Massachusetts State Championship! After implementing the new NEDGC, we've seen an increase in total membership and an increase in membership for the states other than MA. While you may see this as a flaw, we see this as a better representation of New England disc golf.
The real issue is that not enough people played in specific division. The only people I think have a real challenge to the NEDGC model are those in a very small division like FPO, where only 8 total people played in the series that were NEFA members. For people that didn't get an invite from a larger division due to their home region being 'too large,' the answer is simple. Play more events and improve your standings.

Re: 2015 NEDGC Presented by Two Roads Brewing Invites - ALL
Jaime, NEFA, emphasis on NEW ENGLAND moved to a regional qualifying to give equal opportunities to the farther reaches of NEFA-land. Under the old system, Mass players dominated the points standings & invites, because they could easily play in 10-15+ tournaments a year, while those up in VT or Maine or RI we lucky to get in 3 or 4. Back then the best 6 tournaments counted, so if you weren't in Mass you a hard time qualifying, regardless of how good you were. Also, moving to Maine wouldn't necessarily help. If there were 2 pro players in Maine, still only Josh would have made it, because the numbers were based on the ratio of players with the minimum, but we did round up to 1.
edit: I see Matt beat me to it, with a similar explanation.

Matt, are you staying in Masters even if you get an Open invite? Your choice, just need to know if I can remove you from the Open wait list.Matt Stroika wrote:Registered. Where is the list of registered players?

Which state/division are you looking at?Kat Chiacchia wrote:Are only 5 women being invited out of all the ones that play?
The Summary page lists 10 women spots being invited. All divisions/states invites are calculated based on ratios, so that each division has the same % of invites:total players.

right now, the best way to see registered players is to look at the Spreadsheet. If the font is BLUE, then they are registered. Note when I say FONT, I mean FONT, not background highlight.Matt Stroika wrote:Registered. Where is the list of registered players?

This still boggles my mind when the top Recreation and top Intermediate Woman have to get more points to qualify.Under the old system, Mass players dominated the points standings & invites, because they could easily play in 10-15+ tournaments a year, while those up in VT or Maine or RI we lucky to get in 3 or 4. If the rule where there can be no more than one tournament at any given course was lifted then the lower population states could have more events. Which would allow for more opportunities for more points. Each state has a maximum number of events allowed per season (Example 25 events per season). States like Maine could have multiple events at the same course throughout the season but maybe a stipulation would be no more than one per month. Then there would be no bias on the heavily populated states and it would be a true championship.

Players earn points from all events in NEFAland, not just from their home state. Coming from a state that has more people actually increases your chances of getting an invite because more invites are given to the states with more players. No system is perfect, but will certainly evaluate the current system and see if we can improve it going forward.

Re: 2015 NEDGC Presented by Two Roads Brewing Invites - ALL
Trust me, the reason there are few events in ME has nothing to do with not having enough courses to host the events under the current rules. It has everything to do with not having enough interest in running the events. We've got like 30-40 courses that could host events, and (apparently) only three people even remotely interested in running NEFA events on them. Removing the limitation of one event per course (or capping other regions) isn't going to increase anything around here.Jaime Perron wrote:If the rule where there can be no more than one tournament at any given course was lifted then the lower population states could have more events. Besides, having more events up here and/or having more players from here qualify isn't going to change your biggest issue. A Rec player qualifying from Maine isn't going to change how many Rec players overall get invited to NEDGC. It would likely mean fewer Recs qualifying from other regions to make room for the qualifiers from up here. In other words, if the 5th place Rec in MA "transferred" to ME, the most likely result would mean 4th place in MA doesn't get to go anymore. Either way, somebody loses out.

There is a deadline of 10am on Tuesday for registration to get correct shirt size? It's now 9pm on Monday night. When are the rest of the invites going out. Some of us need to work in the morning. I know your waiting for results from the weekend, but the 10am deadline for tomorrow doesn't seem like enough notice. Just my two cents.

Re: 2015 NEDGC Presented by Two Roads Brewing Invites - ALL
I just got done transferring results to the NEFA report format and sent them to Danny to hopefully finalize the invites. This is a nature of when the last event comes in and when the NEDGC is held. With customized shirts, we had two choices; try to capture as many shirt sizes from the players that secured an invite and order an assortment to fill in the rest, or just order an assortment and everyone gets what they get. We opted for the first. Ordering custom apparel takes time, and we are cutting it close by waiting until tomorrow morning.Nyles_Johnson wrote:There is a deadline of 10am on Tuesday for registration to get correct shirt size? For anyone that it is not clear if they will get an invite for sure wants to register to secure their shirt size, please do so. I will refund you your payment if you can't make it. Your shirt will go to the the first come first serve pile.

NEDGC Invites are finalized: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE 3 POINTS TO HELP US OUT:
1. If you're in Green, you're invited, please Register ASAP!
2. If you're not going, Please also let us know ASAP, so we can give your spot to someone else.
3. If you see your friends are invited, tag them, email them, txt them, tinder them, do whatever you can to let everyone know, so the registration fills out and the waitlist moves.
Note, that we're trying to keep the Invite % balanced across all divisions/states, so when someone declines, the next spot doesn't necessarily go to the next in that division.

There are 3 women divisions (Pro, Adv, Int).Kat Chiacchia wrote:I am looking at NY and I play advanced. I couldn't find what 10 women were actually invited?
Open: we invited all 5/5 that played the minimum (1 declined)
Adv: We invited 4/6 that played the minimum (1 declined)
Int: We invited 3/5 that played the minimum.
So 12/16 (75%) that met the minimum qualification requirements got invites. And more could still be added as people decline.
