Eagle Scout Project Installing Course

Post by Rob Walker »

Hello all,

My name is Pieter Svenson, an Eagle Scout candidate from Boy Scout Troop 119 in Lexington. For a couple years now, I have been working on my Eagle Project, which is an important part of the trail to achieve the highest award in Boy Scouts: The Eagle Scout Award. The project itself is to construct a disc golf course around the Bridge Elementary School in Lexington, which is planned to be built this spring, and I need your help.

In order to undertake this ambitious project, I need to raise funds to reach my goal of $5,000, which will cover the costs of the materials needed for the course. I'm on my way with about 10% of it already, but I need to finish fundraising soon if I'm going to complete the project by the end of the school year, which is my plan.

(By the way, if you are unfamiliar with the sport and interested in learning about it, you can look in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the fundraiser website.)

You can check out my fundraising link below; any amount of money will greatly benefit my project and you get cool rewards for certain payment amounts. You can also look at the Facebook page below. There is an aerial view of what the completed course will be like as well as the logo that will be on any Lexington Disc Golf gear you receive for donating. It would also help the project gain popularity if you "like" the page and maybe share it on your wall. Again, anything helps!

If you would like to contribute but don’t feel comfortable donating online, feel free to reply to this email and I will provide my address for you to send cash or a check made out to "Lexington Disc Golf". Please be sure to also provide your address as well as the donor reward you would like so that I may send it to you when the items are available.

If you have any additional questions, please email me at piet_sven@outlook.com. There is additional information about disc golf and the project in the FAQ section of the fundraiser website.

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that disc getting bigger?". Then it hits me.

Thank you all very much for your support thus far. Although we are making our way along and getting close to 20% of my goal, I must ask that further donations be postponed until further notice

I had hoped to direct the scouts and the town to this thread to show how much support there is for the project. Oh, well.

I checked it out this weekend. Reminded me of the course at the Shrewsbury Middle School. Really nice baskets and signage was excellent. First 3 shots around a soccer/baseball field. 5 & 6 throw at each other next to the parking lot. The rest are fairly short, think under 200 feet, in the woods with reasonably cleared out fairways. Good place to introduce young kids or families in my opinion.
