And the Veterans Day charity will be....

Cell Phones For Soldiers! Here's a description from founder, and disc golfer, Brittany Bergquist:

Cell Phones For Soldiers began in 2004 as the idea of two patriotic kids who wanted to give back to the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting us each and every day. To date the charity has provided more than 220 million Minutes That Matter to our troops serving around the world, and it continues Helping Heroes Home via emergency funds that so far has assisted more than 2,800 veterans and their families.

Cell Phones for Soldiers is a registered nonprofit- we collect used cell phones at drop off sites across the country as well as monetary donations and we utilize the funds to purchase calling cards that we send to our troops overseas. We also have a program called Helping Heroes Home which pulls from the same pool of funds. We help veterans with their emergency needs through all sorts of tough situations that the VA can't assist with. We are also launching a cell network that will provide affordable cell service and devices for our veterans.

We want to thank everyone who came out yesterday to support our First Annual Veteran's Day Doubles for Charity event!

We had 16 teams compete and we were able to raise $500 for Cell Phones For Soldiers! This charity provides soldiers with phones and talk time while overseas so they can reach home. This charity has local ties too, as it was founded by disc golfer Brittany Bergquist and family. 50% of all entry fees went to the charity and the rest was paid back to players.

We want to give a special shout-out to a few players who donated their winnings to the charity. Another special shout-out to the folks who donated money from a distance as well. We especially thank both groups.

Teams played a full round on The General plus a 6-hole "birdie row" loop on The Hill, for a par 74.

And the results!
Taking home first place in Mixed....
Fallon Enman & Lezlie Jumanji

In the Amateur division....
3rd Place - Noah Proctor & Matt Stolarz (2 under par)
2nd Place - Kelly Jenkins & Chris Mergemekes (3 under par)
And with a commanding 7 under par!
1st Place - Anthony Stewart & Alex Sakash

In the Pro division scores were close...
3rd Place - Kelly Jenkins & Sam Henderson (6 under par)
2nd Place - Bill Bertera & Aaron Little (7 under par)
And with a blistering 10 under par despite STRONG winds!
1st Place - John Buonsanto & Alex Gula

Thanks again everyone for an amazing day!
