Pay to Play in Maine

During my research on Maine Disc Golf courses, I discovered that 21 out of 22 Pdga listed courses are Pay to Play. The exception being All Aboard Disc Golf. How do Maine players afford to play with gas, and fee expenses? It seems like it would deter me from playing if I had to pay every time I went.

Thanks

Oh man, Scott, you are all over the discussion boards today. I totally hear you on this. As a Central MA resident I forget sometimes how spoiled I am. Every course in the state is within two hours drive (Martha’s Vineyard being the exception). Out of the 17 listed on NEFA only 4 courses that I know of are pay to play (unless you count the minimal parking fee at Borderland). Those 4 pay courses are Normandy Farms, Highlands of Conway, Pyramids and Maple Hill. I’ve never played Normandy Farms, but can honestly say Highlands, Pyramids and Maple Hill are well worth the greens fees. C’mon now $5 to play championship caliber courses like Pyramids or Maple Hill all day!!! Yeah we’ve got it pretty good here in MA. Oh yeah, do a little research and it won’t take to long to figure out that tournament prices in MA are cheaper too. A word I hear a lot around here speaks volumes and its worth repeating. It is called value. Yeah baby!

For those of us that ome from ballgolf as our previous hobby. Disgolf greens fees are quite modest for a days entertainment.

Seriously, it's like $3-5.

I know it's not that expensive, and I have no problem paying, gas is more expensive then the fee's. For someone like me who plays all day for a week straight, it could get very espensive.

There is plenty of value in Maine. $5 has been the cause of lots of discussion over the years. I feel many of our courses and events are worth the trip. Don't belive everything you hear and dont, lump them all together. Check them out for yourself. Heck, Burnsboro should charge just to party with Pete :drunken: It is going to be a good year up here. Hope you can make it. I hear you on the every day player issue Scott. That is when you get together with the owner and work something out. I know Rick is open to, and has, many such arrangements. Private land also has many benefits.
