Final April 27th @ Barre Wicked UPDATE-

Post by Joe Yaskis »

APRIL 27th = Take the day off from all family activities now.

Reason for the change is because there is a tournament, April 26th, in Maine.
Practice 9:00 am - 9:45 am

Start time 10:00 am sharp.

First round doubles

Second round triples

Both rounds Stableford scoring.

Team that finishes in first = 200$

CTP money all over the place

I'm taking out cash for food = pizza.

Location to be determined.

# of team members in attendance must be confirmed by March 1, 2008

You have to stableford in the finals. Is there any other way? If people know I would like to hear suggestions.

I mean, you could just do stroke.

I think in this format Stableford is very appropriate, with no "single" score able to torpedo an entire teams chances, all the scoring will be high, or low, or however you want to put it.

I think about it this way, in stroke we'd be going to a playoff, or someone over the course of the day is gonna Ace, and that will be the difference, in stableford, as dubs and trips, you better make ALL your birdies, and someone better come up with a spectacular eagle... that will be the difference.

Just checked in with the wife.

I 100% have a wedding that day.

So. I don't know what to do, I can't get out of this one, I got out of one last year, (one of my wife's bridesmaids mind you) to make a challenge, b/c without me, Burgess would have had below the minimum to play, I believe that was year one against Pye.

Joe, can we switch this date.. otherwise, I miss out.. which Ill do if I have to, but would be really PISSED.

I can do any other saturday... This wedding I cant miss, I can miss the other one, it's not a big deal.

Am I missing something here? Why would there be a playoff? I thought we were just adding up each doubles score (stableford or stroke) and the total of all the doubles = your teams score. Also, an ace is much more valuable in stableford than stroke. I mean I don't care what we play I just thought we got rid of stableford this year.

I would think with the combo of dubs and trips, in stroke, there would be a HIGHER likelihood of a playoff, not that automatically there would be a playoff.

So i asked this earlier but it got passed by.
If the most we can do is 10 vs 10. We would have 5 dubz matches first round worth two points each and then 3 trips rounds and one singles in the second round worth 3 points each for the trips and 1 point for the singles?
If we use stableford do we even need to assign points per group? It seems that we would just total up the amount of points for each team for both rounds and that would suffice.

I am thinking we should shoot for 10 v. 10 or 9 v. 9... 9 on 9 could include one singles player, or one person sits..

Todd's right, total score for group both rounds, biggest amount of points wins.

Just to clarify:

Let's say hypothetically, that it's decided that the finals competition will be 8 vs 8 (every team confirms they can field a minimum of 8 players) If there are some teams that have more than 8 players available for the finals, are those extra players eligible to play for the CTPs...seeing as they've paid to be a part of this? Obviously, their scores won't count towards point totals. I can't remember for sure how this was worked out last year if at all.

This was indeed an issue last year, and it was worked out well IMO. We decided that the people who were not counting towards the team's score could play for the CTPs in both rounds. So everyone who goes gets to play both rounds and their rounds count for all CTPs. Only the people selected to play for the points in each round will have their total scores impact their teams.

An alternate approach to the triples would be to say the top 3 scores count toward your teams totals. So if you bring 9 players you have 3 teams of triples and all count. If you bring 12 then you take the best three team scores and discard the worst. If you bring 8 players then you play 2 triples and have a doubles team (NO Cali!) as the third score.

A similar approach for the doubles round could also be done (best 3 or 4 scores count).

Atleast that would give the guys who last year were throwing for CTP's something else meaningful to do (rather then throw for CTP then pick-up).

Sorry GRE test tomorrow. I've been studying like crazy

I vote for West Thompson simply because I love the course. I don't think pitch and putt favors short arms when it comes to doubles and triples anyway.

I am up for counting the top 3 scores for each team. It will allow teams to be rewarded for having everyone show up as well as give everyone the opportunity to play.

Anything else I should vote for?

I say winning team in the future should get more then just their money back. Winning the regular season should be worth more than one lucky CTP in the finals. This is a suggestion for next year, as this year seems to be already decided on. My .02

How about donating some of the $ to a basket/course fund. That way a new or old course could have a new basket/tee signs/teepads or whatever it needs to be a better golf course that we all can enjoy.
