Mape vs. Cape

Post by Steve Solbo »

Neutral Challenge Site needs to be determined, as well as numbers and date.

Sites:

W. Thompson
or
Borderland
or
Pyramids

I would have it rely on how much snow people have left.. SE Mass, we got none left. Borderland is probably 100% clear. I will know on Wednesday.

Not sure about W. Thompson or Pyramids.

If W. Thompson is clear, I say we play there.

Borderland is like Burgess' second home.. Pyramids is like your guys second home.

Let's get as many guys as possible.

It's pretty much contingent on you guys, I can guarentee 10.

I would say West Thompson. We should try to get this one in sooner than later.

If west thompson is somewhat clear, then lets go there. I'll check with the troops and see what they think.

I think the first Sunday in January sounds good. I think it's the 6th. I have not found out how many guys I can get, but I'll be taking care of that tomorrow. We usually get 8 guys, I'll know more tomorrow. Start around 9:30 or maybe even 9:00 if possible?? I can bring the webber grill for a nice case of meat sweats between rounds if you guys want. Who's in for Team Maple Hill, holla back @ ya boy!!!

How is that going to work? There will be two teams at Pyramids on Sunday? We are going to have to do a shotgun start and try to get each team off at the same time. I predict that the second round will take place in the dark for a few holes.

That is too bad with all the courses available that they you decide to use one that is already being used for a team challenge. I plan to contact Jason but have not yet. Sorry J.

I dont see what the big deal is...

Pyramids Doubles had 6 people on each hole in late November and still got done before dark.

We are talking 32 golfers. Big whoop.

Also, what if it's a nice day? Course would have people on it anyways, it's really too bad that Jason has a nice course where tee boxes wont be an issue, and Ill be damned if we are playing on a weekend the Pats are.

Lets see, we have 8 they have 8... that's um 4 groups, you guys have 4 groups, that's 8 groups... On MOST disc golf courses there are 18 holes...

that's 8/18.. like I said before, this should be a non-issue. 18 groups of 6 playing best disc 2 rounds got done before dark.. what will be a mess is if the course is busy that day, ever think that could happen, than it wouldnt matter how many teams are playing pyramids that day.

what time are you planning on starting your round.

I also seem to recall that the final couple of holes were pretty dark at the Pyramids doubles event.

The problem is that we are anticipating regulars playing the course that day. we will have to work around them, and now another team challenge as well. It is not an issue if we were the only ones using the course, but it is public.

We can focus on starting on the Back 9 with our 4 groups, or like 14, 15, 16, 17.

You guys can start on 1,2,3,4

I think we'll be fine.

Pyramid Doubles: 9:30 Start 108 Golfers, 1.5 Hour Lunch, varying skill levels, got done before dark.

Sun. Jan. 6th 32 Golfers... maybe more.. (I mean all the "locals" you speak of, most of the ones that would be playing "casually" are on Maple Hill). Short Lunch and more Daylight...

Sunrise on Nov. 17th was 6:40 AM/Sunset was 4:25 PM

On Jan. 6th Sunrise 7:17 AM/Sunset is at 4:30 PM... so technically we'll have a little MORE sunlight to deal with, or atleast the same amount, I bet if we start at 830 or 9, we'll be done by 330 or so.

I agree with you Steve, it probably wont be a big issue. It will be fun to watch another challenge going on at the same course. We are not starting until 10:00, so you guys will have it to yourself until we show up.

All this talk about Pyramids and Ala called me and said a bunch of dudes played West Thompson and said the tees were all good except for like two. I already called a bunch of guys on our team to let them know about Pyramids, and it sounds good, but Steve if you want to run it @ West Thompson, that's cool too. I'm good with either. It would be fun to have a big potluck/bbq party @ Pyramids and see some of you ragg arm sand baggers from courses off of Marshall Street. I think all players should be ready to fork over the $5 green fee for the day. I'm all for a gathering of several teams, maybe get some guts going. Burgers and beanies and weenies oh my....

I think we have 8 for each round. We may not get any more because we are expecting to have a couple of our players only play one of the rounds due to other commitments. When we've done our matches @ Maple Hill the format we used was match play each round. We do this to speed the pace of play. If you're gagging and your opponents are parked, pick it up and go to the next hole. We played match play in the first round as doubles, had a killer lunch the played singles match play in the afternoon. The reason for singles in the afternoon was if one player was getting thumped by the other, the match would be over quick and it would'nt drag on...I don;t care about the format but think two rounds of match play is cool. 8-) We play tournaments all season long, stroke play, and theteam challenge allows us to play match play and that is just plain cool. We'll do what the captains agree on. Let's shoot for a 9:30 tee off, no later, so we don't hold up the other play going on that day.
