Worden's Pond Campground.....new RI course!
Attention all, another quality course in NeFa land is about to open, this time in the southern part of RI. The new course, a Norm F. creation, is slated to open around August 1st and is located in Wordens Pond Campground about 10 minutes from Ninigret. The 18 hole course, which will be a pay to play facility, navigates around fields, wooded shots, and a few holes around a pond. Other than minor cleanups and polishing, the course is ready to go. Teepads and leveling the baskets (lightning db 5s) are the few adjustments that are needed. The course is very fun to play with ace runs, tightwoods with trees that just love discs, two basket placements per hole (easy and hard) and little rough (compared to Ninigret). More updates soon to follow.......

Wow!...way to go RI Boyz! Will the course be open to anyone willing to pay to play, or is a campsite resvervation required to access the site? Many camp facilities with coruses operate under such conditions...
Me thinks the Archers will take an RI swing to play Wordens, Nini and N. Smithfield later this year...

best way to get there if you are in westerly is from route 1 N to route 110 N (towards URI). Go through one stop sign and take a left at the blinking red (second stop). You will now be on wordens pond rd. Follow it until you see the sign for the campground on the left. I am unsure what Norm is going to do as far as paying, Ill ask though

There will then be signs directing you to the course which is probably 4-5 miles back into the woods. I am unsure what Norm is going to do as far as paying and all that stuff, Ill ask though.

If you have not had a chance to check out Worden's Pond, you should do so before October 15th when it closes for the winter. Norm has made many changes to the course already to make it play even better. Narragansett Town Beach is only 10 minutes away for a swim before or after, picture white sand beach with good waves, water right now is 70 degrees.
Hole 1 - 300 foot + open field shot. basket is tucked among some trees a bit to the right. Its a straight/slight anhyzer drive.
Hole 2 - a short hyzer hole, its deucable as long as you dont hit trees, a recurring theme on this course
Hole 3 - you have to throw over the swamp. You can either go the traditional way where the disc is only over water for a bit or you can try a high anhyzer/flick if you want to get bold.
Hole 4 - short hole that you can either birdie or bogey. the fairway is very tight with a set of trees right off the tee. Get by the trees and you are looking good but easier said than done.
Hole 5 - a short anhyzer hole with many trees to hit
Hole 6 - a bit longer hole. You must throw your drive as far and straight as you can. Fairway is narrow with trees on both sides. The basket is up the path and to the right. A very tough birdie hole, if you walk away with a 3, be happy.
Hole 7 - a very short slightly downhill straight hole that really should be birdied every time
Hole 8 - an open downhill shot. To get to the basket tucked into the woods down a path, you must throw anhyzer off the tee. Otherwise lay up to the path and take your 3.
Hole 9 - a slight anhyzer hole, the basket is located a bit down and to the right on another path. It can be birdied but it is very easy to mess up your drive and you are looking at a possible bogey.
Hole 10 - a short blind anhyzer shot...should be birdied
Hole 11 - a longer hole down a path. Keep your drive on the road. the basket is on the right. This hole you are happy walking away with a 3, even a 4 is not too bad, as there is trouble on both sides of the fairway.
Hole 12 - you throw off an elevated tee a short hyzer. Go too far and you make your putt difficult as there is a pine tree in your way.
Hole 13 - an open field longer anhyzer/flick. The basket is blind from the tee and is on your right.
Hole 14 - another longer open field shot. A roller is not a bad idea.
Hole 15 - you must throw your drive straight as the rock wall on right is OB and there are woods on the left. Tough birdie hole but should get a 3 with a decent drive.
Hole 16 - you throw out into the field, the basket is behind a mound on the left.
Hole 17 - another throw out into the field (we have been driving 16 and 17 at the same time to cut down on the walking), the road is OB. like 16, 17 is somewhat long but not really.
Hole 18 - requires another blind high anhyzer/flick shot, the basket is out in the field next to 17
Overall, a very fun course. You should be able to 2 or 3 every hole on the course but thats not so easy when so many shots are so tight and the woods are so unforgiving.

Re: Worden's Pond Campground.....new RI course!
Is this course still open? Nothing here in seven years doesn't leave me hopeful.
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that disc getting bigger?". Then it hits me.

Nope. This course is sadly no more.
