Wick vs NASA

Post by discglfr05 »

I've been discussing this with Ditter and we're looking at March 9th (daylight savings time...woohoo!) as the challenge date. Team NASA can most likely field 11 players for this one, barring unforeseen circumstances. West Thompson is the venue

Lunch ideas?: We could do a chill n grill...extended daylight hours, so why not?

We will be bringing close to a full squad. There are 11 committed with 1 on the fence. I will make a veggie crockpot and bring a grill (1/2 veggie 1/2 meat if need be) and some beer.

Let get a list going on what others are bringing.

Looking forward to having a close to full team challenge. I hope it all comes together 11 vs 11 or 12 vs 12.

The 9th is pretty much written in stone as far as Team Wick is concerned.

We may be looking at 10 v 10, with 11 v 11 still a possibility. Will advise.

Note that you LOSE an hour ("Spring Ahead") of sleep the night before the challenge. So if you forget to adjust your clock before you go to sleep, you could be screwed when you wake up.

I sure hope that doesn't impact 11 vs 11. I'll bet at least one player forgets. There should be some penalty to the team whose player(s) get it wrong. There's more than a few "players at risk" I could mention. :drunken:

What happened to hole 8? That reminds me...are there any holes that are flooded at WT?

Good point, John! Actually, I think it's hole #9, not #8 that had the temporary basket at tourney 54.

Team Wick is the home team. You guys gonna take care of a portable basket? Looks like NASA folks are scrambling for rides, so we won't have much room.

I have one portable (Big Nic is bringing) already and working on getting another one just in case hole 16 is flooded. That should be enough, all the other holes are clear of the raising water level.

players meeting 9:30-9:45
tee off 10:00

enough time for lunch

2nd round of doubles.

With the time change we should be okay with daylight.

I'm bringing a grill (1/2 for veg 1/2 for meat) and some type of veg crock-pot and some non-OH and OH beverages.

See ya'll on Sunday at WT!

Just going by the list that Ditter sent me for our challenge. We also have Chad Hershman, but he can't make it. We'll have 11 total :D

that's important stuff. we wouldn't want him to come out and play and risk it. really. and that goes for any other pros too. on Team Wick. :cyclopsani:

The day started with basket 14 and 16 out of sight under water. Also under water was 15's fairway and most of 17's green in the morning, with the basket surrounded by water for the 2nd round.

To play around mother nature an alt. tee and portable were used for 14 and 16 and alt. tees for 15 and 17. There was also an OB modified rule to account for the water near 17 basket and 16 basket (for the 2nd round only) A disc was OB and accessed 1 stroke penalty if thrown in the water for any shot other then a putt (anything outside of 30 feet) after the penalty the player would then go to the drop zone (approx. 20 ft from the basket) for their next shot. Any putt inside of 30 feet would not be accessed a penalty stroke and the player would thrown from were the disc was last in bounds.

The playing conditions were blue skies, sunshine, gusting challenging wind and fairly cold temps.

first round singles:

Greg W over Dan O 4-2 (W)
Jim w over James L 3-2 (N)
Jack N over JD 4-3 (W)
Matt T over J. Gordon 1-0 (N)
Pj Dan over Tserpes 2-1 (W)
Hogg over Stew 1-0 (W)
Mike A over Chip Playoff hole (N)
Big Nic over C Brown 1-0 (W)
Clayton over Drew 3-2 (W)
J Bayer over J Powers 5-4(W)
ditterman over J Mucc 7-5 (W)

Wick 8 NASA 3

Doubles:

Hogg/Laner over JD/Wills 50/54 (W)
Gregger/Chip over Stew/Andrews 53/56 (W)
Big Nic/PJ over Tserpes/Brown 55/55 6 playoff holes (W)
Nickel/Gordon over Muss/Powers 49/59 (W)
Ouellet/Thomas over Bayer/Clayton 50/53 (N)
ditterman over Drew 60/74 (w)

Wick 9 NASA 2

final Wick 17 NASA 5

Thanks to Team NASA for making the long treck to WT and dealing with all the tee and hole changes. Great times!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again at the Tulley Lake finale.
