Final April 27th Barre Dam

Post by Joe Yaskis »

Hello everyone.

I will be the first one to say that that I did not do my job properly and did not check to see if we needed a permit to play Tully on the 27th. I was under the assumption that this was a pubic place and it was free to play. I have since learned that it will cost us close 200.00 if we want to have our finals there. 50 dollars for a permit and 100-150 for a porta potty rental.

I have not heard back from the head park ranger who works at Tully, even after I left him a voice message and 3 emails over the last two days. I wanted to see if there was some kind of way we could work things out.

Gary C did some research and found out we could have our final hurrah at Barre for 150.00 dollars less. All we would have to do there is pay to close the course for the day and there are bathrooms that are open and ready to use.

Captains please email your decisions asap about a possible course change, which would be Barre = 150.00 dollars less, or Tully for an additional 200.00. All captains have until the end of the week to get back to me with a decision.

I would love to play Tully, but I think 200.00 to play a course is a little steep. If the park ranger at this course would open the bathrooms I think that would be great.

I take complete responsibility for this and apologize if I upset anyone who plays and runs Tully Lake. Joe Yaskis, NEFA MA state rep. I would only like to see captains respond to this thread vai PM please.

I would like to see a poll of all teams and members asking if they would rather see WT or Barre, assuminjg Tully is out. Would WT be an option? I know Gary talked with the Ranger at Barre, anyone reach out to WT yet?

Each captain could just poll their own team, then send their majority decisions to Joe. I don't think Tully is out, it'll just cost more to play there. One suggestion I have (and this probably won't go over very well, but something to consider): use some of the ctp $$ to pay for the extra charges at Tully and keep it at Tully.

I didn't call West Thompson yesterday.

Barre seemed to me like the best and most neutral option. I remember there being a fair amount of flak about using West Thompson back when we were voting.

Additionally, I can't even tell you where the bathrooms are at West Thompson. Dave Stidham did have to rent a Porta Potty for the tournament we just had there so I figured it would be the same.

I did talk to Tim Russell yesterday though. He said Buffumville would be opening the bathrooms this week. What about using Buff?

Would Buffumvill be considered our home course :?: :?: :?: I thought we were supposed to play at a neutral course @ the finals.

I'd vote WT... not that it matters.

I played it for the first time at the WTO, and that course is awesome.

Any thoughts on keeping it at Tully and using a relatively small amount of ctp $$ to pay for permit/port-a pottie? ...not sure why this wasn't suggested in the first place. If Tully was the majority choice and there's a reasonable way to keep it there, then why not?

I've got a suggestion. I was talking to Franchi a few weeks back. He rented a portapotty for his Ice Bowl. It is still on his property. The company he rented it from told him the price to rent it was the same for one day as it was for one month. So he said what the heck - might as well keep it for a month. I'm guessing it would be the same company as his course is in the same town (Athol). My point is what does David Stidhem have planned for this weekend's tourney at Tulley? If he is renting a portapotty then might as well keep it there for a month, no? If that doesn't work - suggestion #2 move the finals to Franchi's. Did I mention he has a portapotty?

I pm'd Joe the same thought about using CTP money. Makes sense. As a matter of fact, some of my team members expressed great displeasure at having to shell out more money for finals. Some even suggested they might boycott if that was required. USE CTP MONEY FOR ANY EXPENSES BEYOND WHAT IS PLANNED!

I even think we should use 4-5 hundge to buy pizza and soda/beer for all.

Burgess has no problem donating an additional $2.50 per player to cover "Greens Fees" for the day.

But it sounds like most votes are to take the money out of the kiddie. I think atleast a keg is in order.

Why would you leave drinks out of the equation? I realize some people have preferences...

we could post a poll, those seem awfully popular lately.

Id rather not have pizza at the break actually.. to filling and too much lactose makes for greasy hands second rounds which I also dont like.

So we OK telling everybody they have to eat Pizza, but we are not ok telling people what beer to drink.

Interesting Concept!

Interestingly enough, some of these pizza places also have stuff like subs, and other food items...heck, we could even call in orders too!...amazing I know! Each captain would be responsible for assembling food orders for their teams ahead of time, so everything will be ready to go when it comes time to call it in. I think they've done this at other tournies in the past, tho I could be wrong.  Doesn't matter what we eat, the idea was to have it paid for by the contributed funds.

Beer on the other hand is a serious subject and must be carefully addressed

Interestingly enough, some people own these things called refridgerators. Inside these things the temperature remains a relatively constant 42-43 degrees. It's amazing I know!, but the whole thing started some years back with this thing called an Ice Box. See companies would drive to your house and deliver ice so when the ice you had melted, you always had new ice to keep the food cool and extend its life. Each person is responsible for keeping food in their own fridge. But, if you plan properly everything will be ready to go when you are finished with your first round. I think I've seen people bring food (from what I assumed to be their fridge) to tournys in the past, tho I could be wrong  . It doesn't matter what you take to the course from your fridge. The idea is to play for the contributed funds, not spend it on what you think "everybody" might want.

Yup. Gotta agree with Gary on the food front.

Personally, I think a poll could be taken for beer choices. But that's just me... alot less beer options out there than food choices.

And why dont we give captains the added responsibility of food for their teams too.. nevermind deciding whom is playing with whom, making sure their teams scorecards are right... coordinating what holes they'll be starting on and other stuff...

what brian harrington is eating for lunch is not on my list of things to do for that day.

I'd also rather PLAY for the monies that have been put forth.. than spending it on food that I guarentee some of which will go to waste...
