Seal Skin vs. Cabela's Gore-Tex Sock

Post by Steve Solbo »

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has a difference in opinion on these two brands of waterproof socks. I know Ill get some answers saying why dont you just wear goretex shoes...

but see, I have Fred Flinstone feet, very flat (almost no arch) and wide. Therefore, I want to wear my nice comfortable Brooks Acadia running shoes, which they DO NOT make in Gore-Tex, therefore, I am looking for possible opinions and likes and dislikes of the waterproof socks.

Thanks in advance.

I love my seal skin socks with my $18 wally world boots. That way I can beat up the cheap boots on Buffumville's tees and afford to buy new boots, rather than continuously ruining expensive boots.
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that disc getting bigger?". Then it hits me.

I have found thegortex socks are waterproof for maybe 1-2 years. The sealskins are waterproof a few months and water resistent for a few months longer

I've got Cabela's and they work. They seem to work better than my Goretex sneakers, which don't stand up to standing in water.

Warning- my feet smell like something aweful after wearing the Cabela's socks for a day.

I've had sealskins last over a year. You just gotta take care of 'em. (no drying in the dryer, etc...)
