West Thompson

Post by Steven Dakai »

Ok, I have been asked to see if there is any interest in a West Thompson team. We would only be looking for Pros, ringers and persons who don't mind cheating to win. Anybody?

Is there anyone else who wants in on Thompson? If not, we may merge with Hodges. We can still use Thompson, and possibly have Hodges as our alternate course. Nothing is set in stone, nobody should get their panties in a bunch. Mike Murphy and I have spoken briefly about it and it is getting near the time to pay/submit rosters.
Please respond ASAP with comments or complaints.

Guys, I think this is a great idea. Name Hodges as an "Home" course... W. Thompson is south, so snow is probably a little less frequent there... so you'll have options.

Plus, having a roster with a bunch of one set of guys, and another set of guys, you should have NO problem getting the minimum 6 for a challenge.

Go for it!

Team Hodges (to this point):

Mike Murphy

Mike D

Dewey

Keith Morin

Not as many people as I was hoping, so If everyone on both side wants to go ahead with this merger make your voice heard.

All of the guys on Hodges minus me, do not post on NEFA. Dewey, said he's game. And I'm waiting to hear back from Keith and Mike.

Here's a couple of my thoughts:

1. Combining works for me. Ideally, to field as competitve a team as possible, we would have more than 12 to TRY OUT, and take the top 12. Also, judging from the Tolland thread, there is potentially a very talented player or two that will not make their team. They could then try out for WT as well, and having a somewhat nearby (to Tolland) home course could help.

2. West Thompson should be the home course seeing as how it's almost ready to field a full team anyways. Hodges is a great alternate if WT has some flooded holes...(quite possible).

Merging both teams together sounds like a good idea, With West Thompson as the "Home" course over Hodges.

home course

Post by Jack Gabby »

I've got no problem with a merge.

One thing:
If there are 9 WT players and 4 Hodges, it would only make sense to have WT as the home course. I like Hodges but its just the 18 vs. 9 hole thing.

Another thing: Looks like 9+4 is already too many. (Is it a 12 man roster?) Tryouts are fine. But if the captain(s) are doing all the organizing, I think its up to them. I won't be offended either way, but it would be nice to be on a team.

Gil is a phantom. Sometimes he is there, sometimes it was just a shadow and he really wasn't there at all. Sometimes was enough when we were trying to fill out a roster, but I think we will put him on the waiver wire, pending an unconditional release.
Ergo: We have 12 that want to play so far...
I think that having two courses will be great. Thompson floods, but seems to get less snow. This will give us greater flexibility in scheduling.

I'm glad this has shaped up.

I have not heard back from two of my players, so I cannot say definitely for them or not.

Are there enough people interested now that there should be a tryout? How much time is left before Solbo needs a roster?

I would look into Bobby D for the squad we all know he is on the market. Even though he probably thinks he's too good to play with you guys 8-) . Hodges only has 9 holes and 3 alternates so I would suggest West Thompson as a home course

Bob, You are welcome to join us if you would like to.
It is not my team at all, we can choose a captain once the team is formed.
That being said,I suggest we all meet at Thompson on Monday: what time would be good?

On a weekday I couldn't get there until 530 earliest. I'd be coming from work in Framingham.
