Aight....With Mr. Smith taking off to DC on us. I have decided to take over Team Tolland in his absence as I have not heard of anyone else willing to do so. Hope no one has a problem with that. It's time to get the ball rolling. The roster at this point is listed below if your name is on this list at this point you have a spot on the team and need to contact me and let me know if you indeed will be playing again this yr. There are numerous interested players in the area this year. We will have a FULL roster. The roster does not include players that never showed up last yr.
Roster today:

Pat Barnett
Shawn Mullen
DMack
Alto
Steve G
Dave Mourad
Zak Brown
Mark Lyons
Les Sinnock

That's 9 players with a max roster size of 12. so do the math. Did I miss anyone??

If I have spoken to you already regarding a possible spot on the team this year I will get back to you as soon as I hear back from the returning team. If you were on the roster last yr. and no showed ALL SEASON please get back to me as well if you want to play and will actually show up.

I am also thinking of claiming 2 or possible three courses as home turf this year (we'll see how solbo feels about this shortly). There are three great courses within a short drive of us.

NICE I just sent les a pm to grab some info from him. Would you guys be interested in kicking in a few extra bucks for team shirts (hoodies/jerseys)? I can get them REAL cheap from a friend of mine.

mmm no. I'm leaning toward a hooded sweatshirt I can get them for around 20 bucks each. THe hoodie seems more appropriate for the winter.

After the GHDGO win, how could they not call Shane up from AAA Tolland?

It makes for a great NFL Films story. Shane Staubach and Jason Morton.

Now all we need is Super Bowl XII for them to face off against each other.

I knew that was coming. But I can respect Shane's decision. I cant say his shoes will be easy to fill but I've got a few aces up my sleeve. Image

Not that I really care seeing as I don't particularly take team challenge snow disc and it's rediculas playoff format seriously, but I'm sure this is somehow going to be different from team buff pilfering off of team wicks roster...

More importantly, good luck Shane-O, you're a great kid and an excellent player and deserve to be on a winner. We'll miss having you for sure.

Mark Lyons says he will actually show up to play this yr. So this leaves three openings. I have a list of possible players the only problem is there are more than 3 of you. Not sure what I am going to do about that. I may use past tournament scores or a tryout of some type to fill the remaiing three spots. Sept 14th money is due to Solbo and I would like to have a final roster by that time.

agreed.

it's not just "snow golf".

Burgess challenges at home have had snow on the ground exactly once in 3 years.

And it's nice to play in conditions like that... teaches you how to play in adverse conditions, like rain and wind.

I think at finals last year, we had 65 degree temps and bright sunshine... no snow as far as I remember, acutually i remember wearing shorts.

Joe
I don't need a tissue, I wasn't kidding, I REALLY don't care.
I just wanted to make it a point to express that I find it mind-numbing the way people can have a freakin seizure when someone directly recruits a top player from their own team, and then they turn around and do the same exact thing to some other team like it's no big deal. I wish there was an emoticon with two faces.

Solbo
You're just plain irritating and I'm not even going to respond to you other than remind you that the Patriots lost the Super Bowl because God hates cheaters.

I just deleted my post AND it was wicked funny (possibly to just Dmack)

Sooooooooooooooooooo. After people shut their mouths that don't belong on the team tolland thread.

TT has an issue we have 3 (or possibly 4) open spots. AND 5 people for these spots. I want a TT vote on this issue. Mark you can vote too. I am giving the team till next monday to vote then I will make a decision what will go down.

Issue 1 - Mark Lyons - dude never showed up last yr. how reliable is he will he ever show up? I don't want to waste a roster spot on someone who may not show, BUT he could be a difference maker. Keep him on the roster yes or no??????

Issue 2 - the remaining spots - Kelly Conroy, Ozzie Nunez, Chris Bunce, Nick Holmes and Chuck Ratcliff. you guys all wanna play and i want room for all of you but there isn't 12 is max. Should these people all try out on a given day for the spots or does the TT roster vote on who the players should be. Or do I decide based on past league and tourney scores?

Issue 1 - YES. Just saw Mark last Saturday and he's going to have a much more reasonable work schedule and he'll be there - def wants to play. AND he's prolly the most outwardly enthusiastic player among us by a long shot!!!

Issue 2 - No politics - just have a training camp / tryout day in September. Maybe two rounds - the course plays pretty quick. Of the players mentioned all are AM1 caliber so the contest should be fairly even and exciting - be a pleasure to have any of them aboard.

I vote.. No voting, let the players win their spots. Voting doesn't get us the best players. Sounds good, right? Win your spot and I am willing to play for my spot on the team as well.

Part of me wants EVERYONE to tryout and earn their spot but at the same time you don't want to get hardass on a current member who has a bad day.

While the Barnizzle method makes the competition pure by including everyone, I'm for tryouts for open spots. I'm surprised teams aren't required to have a female player by now either. Legacy should mean something too.

Having too much interest is a good problem to have even if a few sit out the year - Any provisions for alternates? This could also mean that there would be interest in forming another team for 2009-2010. As an aside I don't see a problem if teams share the same home course either if the interest is there..
