I met a Vineyard local at panthorn about 2 weeks ago - the wife was hanging out in the lot waiting for her husband to finish out on the course and we while we were talking about this or that she mentioned Nantucket had plans to put a course in soon. I didn't realize Houck was involved though.

That is sweet. Thought about hiring him or Stan for Borderland to gain the instant recognition within the community, but it is VERY expensive. Not like getting Arny to desing a golf course, but I think it was $500/hole plus expenses and that was 10 years ago.

It does make sense though for Nantucket because if you can afford the land, what is another $6000?

i live on nantucket and todd rainwater and myself are the resposible for getting nantucket disc golf off the ground. We have already flown Houck in once to get the layout of the property we will be using(State forest). All that the state forest asks is that we put in 40 man hours of cleaning a year so thats no biggie at all. we hope to have the course up and running bye mid summer. i will be doing most of the work myself but as i get closer to completion i would like to have a "work day" so we can play a round and do some work.

Bump

Is this still happening for 2009?

I'm going to be out on Nantucket "mid-summer" and am wondering if I can bang some chains while out there...

so the department of conservation and recreation finally got back to us and we are having a public meeting on thursday sept 17 at the nantucket high school. we have tons of flyers out, adds in the newspaper as well as the local tv channels so hopefully after this meeting we will have the approval to get started ,cant wait. if all goes well we should be up and running by this spring and ready to hold the first nantucket disc golf tourney.
