Hyzer Creek

Post by Morgan Wright »

Hyzer Creek was listed in the top 50 disc golf courses listed at dgcoursereview.com as of the end of 2008. Considering there are more than 2900 courses on the site that's pretty cool.

Top 50 best courses for 2008:

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/topcourses_2008.php

Cool!

Rankings were based on 10 or more players actually visiting the website, registering and typing up a review............ Maple hill only has 6 reviews and the top course only had 24 reviews so until there are 100+ reviews on any courses listed this honor of being on the "DGCR's Best Courses" list won't mean much..... 8-)

Any "top 10/50/100" list like this is completely meaningless whether it be DG courses, movies, sports moments, whatever. It's all subjective. All these lists do is spark outrage ("why isn't xyz near the top? it's the best!").

I know what my favorites are. What does it matter what some panel of judges think?

I can think of a few courses in New England that are better than Hyzer Creek, but they didn't get the required 10 reviews to make the list. Buff, Barre, Maple. People in New England need to start reviewing. Maple is rated 5 stars by 7 reviewers.

And Matt Maple Hill made the list, there are 2900 courses on the list.

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=119

I agree there needs to be 100+ reviews before a review is accurate, because there will always be people who give 5 stars to their home course, and others might give grudge bad reviews if they have personal issues with a course/owner. If there are 100 reviews that will blow them out.

Either way, it is pretty cool that your course made the list.

I would like to see a review of New England courses (including New York).
I think that would be of some value to NEFA land.

And since there are 4000 courses in the world, apparantly there are 3900 courses that are worse.

This license dates from 1976, long before you and your wise ass were born.

I was 20, and much smarter for my age than you will be when you are 99.

Geez, I know Morgan can be a pain in the ass but he has a pretty sweet course. No need to jump all over him for showing some course pride. You guys remind me of the middle schoolers I teach.

Mass has spoken!!!!!!

Post by Morgan Wright »

Now that we have addressed the issue of Maple only having 7 reviews (all 5 stars), people from New England have spoken. The current status is 11 reviews, all 5 stars, breaking the 10-review barrier, and making Maple Hill the top course in the world. The only one with 10+ reviews all perfect 5 stars.

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/

Yes people, for the time being, Maple Hill is the GREATEST COURSE IN THE WOOOOOOOOOORRLDD!!! Holy funk [bleep]!!!

Thank you Southwicks, you should be proud.

Mike,

Ditto.
And I've played GGPark a month after it "went 18" and also last fall. It IS one of the best courses out 'there' (and a bit of an anomaly - because it is rather woodsy by CA standards, and thus a "different sort of challenge" (for them)), but if you took an objective dg'er - say from TX or IA or somewhere NOT the northeast or CA, dollars to donuts they'll say BOTH Wick and MH are better.

Remember, course 'appraisals' are like food tasting...subjective at best.

GGP is, at best, an average west coast course. No comparison can be made between it and courses such as Maple Hill or Warwick.

About a half hour north of there is Stafford Lake, which would easily rival any course anywhere. And don't leave out De La Veaga - Mecca of Southern California

Oregon had 3 courses in the top 10 up until a week ago:

Milo McIver, (recently bumped) Horning's Hideout and Whistler's Bend
