Maple Hill Adopt-a-Hole

Six years ago I moved to Leicester, MA to start a new life with my new wife (hi Misty!) and to build what I would consider the best disc golf course in the world. After touring the country and seeing how great many of the courses are, I realized that being in the top tier would be a more reasonable goal.
As luck would have it, Maple Hill - according to DGCourseReview.com - is one of the top courses in the world. And then the ice storm came and visited its wrath on Leicester, wreaking havoc on one of New England's best kept and oldest courses (Pyramids) and one of New England's newer gems (Maple Hill).
Now we are hoping to rebuild better than before. We are looking for folks to adopt-a-hole. Two people per hole one or two days per month is what we're thinking. You would be responsible for:
1. Helping to clear the fairways and the woods around the fairways.
2. Making the tee, pin area and the hole in general as pretty as possible.
In recognition for your efforts, we will give you a complimentary season pass to Maple Hill for the year as well as recognition at the Vibram Open (at the opening ceremony / player's meeting Thursday night and/or on the DVD).
We need help getting Maple Hill back to where it was for last year's Vibram Open and we want to show that the course is ready to highlight New England disc golf this year and into the future. Thanks for your help getting this far and good golly we're going to keep on keeping on.
1. Dave Boliver & Vinnie Steele
2. Ken Ostiguy & Joel
3. Aaron Ala & Shaun LaForce
4. Los Streeters (& Marshall!)
5. Hoey & Chauvin
6. Aaron & Michelle Ala
7. Keith Burtt
8. Justin White & Chauvin
9. Greg Wintrob & Heather Eng
10. Don & Wendy Boutin
11. Marco Iannello
12. Tim Walsh & Dave Jackson
13. Pete Tolvanen
14. Steve & Misty Dodge
15. Tracy & Katrina
16. Sean & Jon
17. Yaskis and BOB
18. Cuzz & Katie

Steve,
My friend Joel and I love Maple Hill too much to see her like this. We have no chainsaw but we have gloves and strong backs. We dedicate any help you need to get this mess off of the course. I would love to tackle Hole #2 just because of the way it pisses me off when I drive by. Just let me know which Hole and when to start.

We can start this weekend. A lot of the regulars will be at the Vineyard, but we'll be out there trying to make the course playable this weekend.
Friday, Saturday & Sunday 9-12.
Ken, It was good to see you at Buff. It will be better to see you at the hill. I'll put you and Joel down for hole 2 and you and I can PM about how to tackle it.

Woohoo! Thank you to everyone for stepping up to the challenge in our most challenging year. With the ice storm and the economy, life has changed a lot in the last 12 months, but people - especially discers - are still good at heart.
The course is a mess, there are piles everywhere, there are hanging branches, a destroyed basket, a few new routes, but the course is playable. Maple Hill is open again. Thanks to everyone that came out to help this weekend, that was awesome! Good work, good food, good peeps.
Steve.
PS. Dave, I put you on hole 12 with Timmmaaay. Sean and Jon came out yesterday afternoon and asked for 16 and did some serious work on it. They didn't even make fun of my 12" holly hobby chainsaw.

THANK YOU!
Maple Hill is playable, and some of the holes look tournament ready.
Hole 2 is a lot thinner but the gaps are there (thanks Ostiguys and Joel and Rob!)
Hole 3 has a small pile of ash that used to be a 20 foot pyre and the fairways are clear (thanks Alas, Boliver, Vinnie, Chauvin, et al (I know I'm forgetting people in my current happiness delirium)
Hole 5 is GORGEOUS! All raked and maybe even swept. (chauvin, hoey, vinnie)
Hole 6 is all cleared out and the raking has begun (thanks Mrs. Ala)
Hole 8 has had multiple trees removed (some of them bigger in diameter than my bread box, if you know what I mean.) (thank you Whitey, Zak, Chauvin, and the early crew)
Hole 9 has a gorgeous backside thanks to Heather Eng. Wintrob carried her water, I think.
Hole 10 - Don Boutin is the man and Wendy is the lady. AWESOME!
Hole 11 - a good start to fixing the blues by Marco and Tom.
Hole 13 - Chauvin, Pete T., Ken O, Joel, the fairway is clear, the piles are large.
Hole 14 - clean fairways galore (Chauvin again)
Hole 15 - a crazy big crew (Jack Nickel, Wintrob, Heather, Timmmay and more)
Hole 16 - Sean and Rob. David Hoey. The piles are big but the hole is playable (don't go right. ever.)
Hole 17 - the trees on the right side of the fairway all fell down. then tom and dave jackson cut them up into sheriff meatball. me and some other clowns moved them around just to look busy.
Hole 18 - everyone that showed up early to a workday tended to clean hole 18. the hole is clean, around it are nice big piles of sticks that tried to ruin our fun. but instead they just made us stronger and built a great core of folks that will come help Maple Hill recover.
THANK YOU!

Not trying to throw anyone under the bus, but hole 4 looks un-touched besides what did in the first 2 weeks after the storm. Other than that the course is looking good.

Oh, and we'll be stealing are bench back from hole 6, and will also be donating our boat for those not so good shots, I think we'll rename it the "Maple Streeter,"
with Maple Hill's consent of course.............

Hole 10 white is now more player friendly. I spent 4 hours on it this morning. The fairway is just about free of branches. A few more towards the top. If only I had one more hour, or another set hands it would have been cleared the whole way. Hope to get out there again before the tournament. Enjoy...........
