Payouts???
Is there anything in the charter that says what payouts have to be? Like top 1/3 or something? And if not, should there be?

I don't think there is anything in there and I don't think there should be anything in there. I always use the PDGA payout calculator for payouts since that is already out there and does all the math for me.
Also, you shouldn't be concerned with payouts as an AM player. That's not the point of you playing in that division...

Serious meow? That is the stupid question of the day, would you play if there is no payout? Ya I would love to pay $30 to not get paid if I place. How much sht did you smoke today?

Wasn't there also a player pack for all ams? Lunch included? Other prizes (CTP, etc)?
I'm not defending the tournament as I know less than you at this point, but perhaps most of the entry fees collected were "paid out" in ways other than rewarding the top finishers, leaving very little at the end to be paid out to those top finishers. That isn't really an out of the ordinary occurrence at a tournament, especially in the amateur divisions.

Yeah Boob, I am serious. If the tournament were to only provide you with the players package and a trophy for 1st, 2nd and 3rd with no extra payout, would you play?
Also, we wouldn't ask the Pro that question...playing for $ payout is the reason for being a PRO.

Lunch was not included, you had to buy a ticket. CTP's were all donations of sorts
Aren't player packs and stuff bought by sponsors and the buy-ins go to the payouts?
I really don't know as I've never been a TD, so I'm looking to be learned on this one.
I always thought sponsors bought ctp prizes, player packs, and trophies.

No, players packages are covered by the AM entry fees. Any sponsorship $ goes towards covering other expenses incurred by every division (ie trophies). Or the sponsorship money goes into the payout for the division that provided the sponsorship. Or the extra sponsorship goes to the PRO division, because Pros play for cash.

Justin, I'm only using your quote as a referrence because all the AM comments are the same. This is not directly at you specifically.
Because you shouldn't be playing for big prizes,..end of story. You are an Amature. Go read the definition of an amature.
It amazes me how this same story line comes up every year as the new crop of top Am's start licking their chops at all the prize money thay are going to be able to rake in no that they are at the top of the AM field.
You don't get to say how a TD makes his payouts. Do I personally think that a TD should follow the payout charts provided by the PDGA (which by the way is a very deep thin payout in Am), yes I do.
I'll say it again. If you are unhappy with that value you got from a specific tournament,....DON'T GO BACK!
Because if I had it my way, the only rule I'd make is that AM's play for low entry fee's ($10 - $15), they'd get a players pack, trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd,..and your points.

Thats a joke seriously. Just because we are AM's we shouldn't be playing for big prizes? What it comes down too is soo many Pro's tired of getting paid less because the AM field is huge and they hate it face it thats reality and you need to justify it by saying Am's should only get player packs which is a bunch of bull sht plain and simple.

No I wouldnt play and im sure many other's wouldnt either. It would be a waste of time to not get rewarded, besides a disc I dont even throw that may be giving in a players pack. Way to make the sport grow..NOT!

Matt why would I donate $50 day in and day out to the same ppl that win all the time? I know you are stupid enough to but doesnt mean everyone else is. I still have a hard time in the AM div so I still am a AM. I dont even have a 1st place win so why would I play pro? You know what. I'm tired of just getting by at about even each year in order to play with the best possible competition. I think I'm going to play the rest of this year as an AM.

AM funny money represents cash value. It should. Any Nefa Points event TD must submit his results & expense report I'm pretty sure. You should be able to take a look at it, right?
If you have 30 AM's paying $30 bucks a pop thats $900. Minus out potential players pack, lunch included?, user fee, insurance etc and a payout to the top 3 is still LARGE.
It's not fair to tie up AM monies for other divisions. It's not.
"Playing AM is not about payouts" bullcucca! Funny money has a dollar value. If I played AM I would not expect cash but I would expect dollar amounts converted into Funny Money.
At APO last year I had 32 AM 1 players- I paid out $602.00 in funny money
that went 14 players deep.

OK, so you are not playing as an AM to get funny money. You are playing to gain experience before moving up to PRO. So therefore, getting a payout should NOT be your motivating factor. Thanks BOB, that was easy...DERP!

There is a difference you guys get $ back we get funny money so whats the big deal? If your rated over 900 or 950 over the season you dont belong in AM plain and simple. You Pro's seemed to be more concerned with our div then you do about yours. Move down I dont give a Sht all you will be taking home is funny money to buy more disc that is a waste to you I dont care. U guys dont have the balls to move down talk about it why dont you do it and stop bitching about what the AM's get and worry about your own div.

You have such a distorted view of what it means to be an Am because it's benefiting you! Sounds like you should quit your job and go into big time politics. Becuase your belief system fits right into it.
So, lets keep the big payouts and we are gonna do away with the PRO division of NEFA. We are all just going to Amatures here in NEFA.

Not every Pro's play for the money. Billy plays Pro and has never accepted the cash. This past weekend he refused over $200 and got a trophy and a couple of discs.

So you are making my point for me! Nice I like it when people finally see the light.
Lookout Intermediate,..once all of us Pros drop down to Am,...Bob Direnzo is coming to your divison,..at a tournament close to you!!
Bob, it's clear you don't understand or just don't want to understand the clear distinction of being an Amature. You've gotten to the point where you're now just argueing to argue. I'd say I'll go home if I want that kind of treatment but not even my wife does this to me.
Most of us that have been around (especially those of us that have been at the top of the Am division) have seen and been involved in this conversation before. You fail to grasp that you are lucky to be playing for big payouts and shouldn't even be allowed to but we at NEFA have never really done anything (with exception of asking) about it.
Guys like Josh Connell, Matt DeAngelis, Kyle Enman, myself and others that were dominateing the top of the AM division have already seen and done this over and over.
It's not right that Am's get to play in tournaments and receive big payouts on the back of NEFA's points series. But your view of this subject is so tainted because you are currently on the beneficial end of this travesty.
Take off the rose colored glasses my friend. You are an AM. You should be playing for pride, trophies, players packs and points. That's what being an AM is. And if tomorrw all of us PRO's decided to drop down and play AM the rest of the year, you'd start cyring that we are taking what is rightfully yours. You'd claim that your many entries where you didn't cash earned you the right to take advantage of these large payouts, while TD's still insist on allowing it.
DISGUSTING REALLY !!!
