FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Crane Hill Disc Golf Course Grand Opening

WILBRAHAM, MA— Come be introduced to the exciting game of disc golf right here in Wilbraham, Massachusetts! The brand new Crane Hill Disc Golf course, 139 Crane Hill Road, will be showcased to the public in a grand opening celebration, Sunday, May 3 (rain date, May 17) starting at 1:00.

Disc golf professionals will be on hand to demonstrate the appeal of this increasingly popular pastime to people of all ages and skill levels. There will be giveaways of popular disc golf gear and refreshments available for all.

Disc Golf is a rapidly growing sport that utilizes specially designed flying discs thrown as “drivers” mid-range “irons” and “putters”. The object is to “hole out” in metal baskets with chains, in the fewest number of throws possible. Hole lengths range from a couple of hundred feet to 600 feet or more.

New England alone has more than 90 disc golf courses, with multiple tournaments scheduled on weekends the year round.

The Crane Hill course is particularly scenic and pastoral, winding through meadows and then into the woods up and along the adjacent hill. Ancient white oaks add character to the fairways, and wildlife abounds, turning a round of disc golf at Crane Hill into
a special encounter with nature.

Crane Hill disc golf has been developed in a special cooperative effort of players with the Wilbraham Recreation Department, and various town departments including the Board of Selectmen, Conservation Commission, and the Open Space Committee with the goal of providing Wilbraham residents another fine recreational opportunity for the betterment of body mind and spirit.

 You know I'd love to be in attendence because Crane Hill is a great course, but I'll be up in Royalston playing in the Tullly Tournament. Good luck demonstrating and showcasing the sport.

Is most of the snow melted at Crane Hill? I am hoping to play a round tomorrow afternoon.
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that disc getting bigger?". Then it hits me.

Only a couple of inches from what was the mega-storm in so many other places, so Crane Hill is very playable!

Karl Molitoris and I played it yesterday and it was awesome! Had an ace on Hole 14, woohoo. 175g Evolution Wizard, the best putter/driver out there.

Seriously, you play less than I do. Although we did play in the snow today. When is anyone going to be around to play a round at Crane. Two feet of snow is depressing.

I can make it on May 3rd and can commiserate with the GPs who, like myself, may not be able to throw ten feet.

But before then I definitely have to get out there and play!

MAY 3'RD, Jay?! Sounds like you have a chronological screw or two loose... :)

I'm plowing through correcting finals over the next couple of days, and looking to get loose too-- would be glad to guide any newbies through the pleasures of Crane Hill (only a couple of inches of snow!)

*sigh*

This topic was at the top of the page so I thought it was new. I just noticed that Davis' original post was last year! I thought he was already planning next year's tourney. Must be too much Christmas grog....

We will have to feel out the town on that one, Titan. It's a delicate situation in that parking is somewhat limited, plus possible concerns of neighbors.
