Newton Hill Saturday League, 10AM

Post by David Hoey »

Newton Hill 10 a.m. Saturday League

Starting this Saturday, September 12, Marshall Street will be running a league at Newton Hill in Worcester, MA.

The format will be random draw best disc doubles.

The cost will be $5 per player, with $1 going to a cash CTP chosen at random, and $4 going to the payout.

Please come and enjoy a very new, very rough disc golf course, the only one in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Directions: Newton Hill is right behind Doherty High School (484 Main St, Worcester, MA 01608) in Worcester, MA. This 41-acre piece of land is inside a triangle formed by Highland St, Pleasant St and Park Ave. We recommend you park in the upper parking lot to the left of Doherty High, by Holes 1 and 18.

We had 7 brave souls come out and get a little wet for Newton Hill's first league. 2 big trashbags were filled, and the course looks goood. Thanks to everyone who came out. This course has massive potential.

Mark Verocchi/Brett Bailey 50
Jason Southwick 52
Rick Belheumer/David Hoey 52
Jon Golen/Andrew Gallerani 56

CTP (Hole #18) Brett

Three of us showed up at league yesterday. Andy Gallerani takes it with a score somewhere in the low 60s. Brett Bailey takes silver with a couple extra strokes. I claimed bronze (and DFL) with a 66 or so.

Brett grabbed the CTP on 17.

I lost my Buzzz on hole 13? 14? Luckily, I found it later that night with some Kennebunk Pumpkin Ales. I love the Fall.

Mark Valis takes home the cake with a blistering 60.

All of us are looking to set the bar a little higher next week...

What are you laughing at?

Very tight play today made for an exciting and wet round...

Jon Williston gets cash for the low round of 57

Matt Sroka - 60

Dave Hoey - 60

Jon Golen - 64, and the CTP.

Thanks for coming out y'all.

Maybe we're just not that good.

I'm thinking some combination of the two.

New to the area

Post by Tommyfroman »

Sorry if this is off topic for the post, but I'm going to college in Cambridge and I've been dying to get back to playing some disc golf. The only problem is transportation because I don't have a car with me and I'm new to the area. If you guys have any tips on how i could get to nearby courses or out to Newton Hill I would love to play some golf and maybe join your Saturday League.

Hey Tommy!

Barring splitting gas with someone coming out from your area, I would look into what's available with trains coming out to Worcester... then I would imagine it would be a quick little cab ride because its not too far from the station.

linky...

Burlington MA has a 9 hole course. Maybe a bus runs out there from that area.

Thanks Mark, that is the correct total for now... the others are scheduled to be put in next week, so this is the last week for playing before it's all official.

Gonna be really nice out... Bob said so.

are you fkin serious? Thanks for that. There's always people at Newton League, no matter what the weather. That says a lot more to me than only playing when it's nice out.

try practicing what you preach. If you want people to "stay off your thread" then stay off others... I don't need you soiling this one up too. And before you go blah blah blah you posted on mine, it was a general title, What's up for Saturday thread, what. did. you. expect. :?:

Can't believe I'm posting this.

Riiiiiggghhhhttt... so anyway.

Newton is a fun and challenging course with hills. A good array of different, unique shots that tests your skills with L-R and R-L shots combined with elevation. No water, and no OB. A fun way to warm up and start your day before an afternoon round. Being the only course in Worcester, I really enjoy playing disc golf with all the other commotion associated with Worcester happening all around you.

It's like playing Central Park in Tiger Woods... you know, if you're familiar with that.

Looking to play league on Saturday... fairways are all opened up but finding discs has become a challenge. Course is looking good, can't wait to try the new hole 3. Is it done yet?
