This year, 18 holes will be installed on the mountain. Installation will commence in April(or whenever this pesky white stuff melts).

Currently there's a mix of poles and baskets around Dolan's Lake Park at the base of the mountain. These will remain until April. During the skiing season, 9 baskets from the mountain course will migrate back to the lake.

This is the only 18 Hole Course at a Ski Resort in NY State.

There is work being started on another 18 hole course separate from the Ski Resort, that will also be in the Village of Hunter.

Played the Mountain Jam layout today......... big, BIG hangtime on the 800ft, downhill hole #8.

Disc Golf

Coming to Hunter Mountain in the Summer of 2011
Update: 9-hole course is now open, remaining nine holes will be open by July 4th weekend!

What is disc golf? The sport uses flying discs (think highly specialized Frisbee flying discs) thrown on a course designed much like a golf course. Using various disc types, play starts from tee-off areas, continues down fairways, and ends at metal "baskets" that discs must land in to finish the hole. Players chose from their discs that have specific flight characteristics for different purposes, from long distance to stable curving throws to lighter-weight putters for hitting the basket.

Disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with over 3,000 courses across the country, and many more being planned. Our mountain course will offer challenging but fun game play, with plenty of downhill fairways that cover a lot of ground. The course will be designed by local musician and professional disc golfer Skot Hanna.

Our Expeditions and Sports Center located in the Base Lodge offers a number of Innova discs for sale and rental.

Back 9 baskets arrive next week......... front 9 are currently set in the regular layout.

Sept 25th is the grand opening tournament.
One singles round at 10am to raise funds for Prattsville flood victims. $30 Pro / $20 Am entry.
An afternoon doubles round for prizes(zip line passes, ski lift tix, etc.).
All players get a Hunter Mtn disc.

I thought I'd read somewhere that sometime in November the baskets come off the mountain for ski season. Email is out to Skot Hanna to verify this.

Nine baskets will be installed just down the road from the mountain for winter. Dolans Pond Park.

It's not a pitch and putt some off the holes are shortish but some require full drives as well.

Start with very few courses and there's more room to expand. The capital region is way behind on the DG curve.
