I read it Jeff and I haven't broken it, however it would have been nice for the new powers that be to let members of this board know who the new Admins are. I have no problem with you being an Admin at all. You're one person that gets along with everyone!
Just would like to know who has the final say when it comes to removing post or who someone should go to if they need a post removed of they feel if violates the rule as listed in the agreement.
Also you're a brave man for doing this....thank you for taking it on.

You're one person that gets along with everyone!![]()
We'll see if that's the case 6 months from now
Come to me via PM for issues FROM THIS POINT FORWARD.
I don't wanna have to police an issue stemming from something that happened last year. No point in bringing up the past if we wanna move forward. I've been the admin for the DisCap board for several months now and that's given me some insight as to how it works, although on a smaller scale.
If a post is deleted, there will be an obvious reason. I'll PM people directly involved but NOT post it publicly aside from saying "Take it to PMs" and then any subsequent inflammatory posts will magically go "poof". The thread lockout feature may also be utilized to allow heated issue to calm down.
Keep in mind I do have a day job so don't expect 24/7/365 "emergency" service and I'm still working out details with the NEFA Board members so don't take any of this as gospel just yet.

Thanks for volunteering Jeff and Tim. Running the message board can be a thankless job. I do have a question:
Who determines what content is acceptable and what is not. What recourse,if any, does a banned member have to dispute the punishment.
Will the power of the admin be greater than that of an official of NEFA (can you zap posts by our beloved president). What crieria will be used to detemine what is "discussing" and what is "argumentative".
Will there be clearly stated rules with clearly stated consequenses of breaking the rules and if so who makes them up?
Will there be any peer review of the actions of the admins?
Will the rescent threats made on this board be acted upon?
Ok, that was more than one, sorry.
I should have said ditto to Jason s post, but I am digging my new Blackberry...ok wiping now, bye!

Smart phones rock ! My iPhone never leaves my side. Picked up a pretty cool iDiscGolf app recently and ....... oh, admin question.... sorry
The rules are basically what you see in the Terms of Use Agreement.
Since there are nearly 1200 registered users with 1200+ personalities, a detailed list of do's and dont's will be nearly impossible or WAAAY to lengthy to be functional. Hell, nobody would read it.
1. If I get a buttload of PMs about a certain thread, i'll go there, read it and simply post "You have crossed the line, take it to PM or email". A warning PM/email will also be issued to all parties involved.
2. If the parties involved continue further across the line in the public domain, the thread may be locked, posts may be deleted, and/or persons may be temporarly banned.
3. When a person is banned from posting and attempts to re-register a new Login ID, the time limit of the ban will be INCREASED substantially. Their IP address will also be locked out for the length of the ban.
I'd like to say that punishments will be equally distributed to avoid the "he hit me first" finger-pointing match but I can't. Conditions will vary, as will the consequenses.
This is nothing new and it's used on pretty much EVERY other message board on the internet EXCEPT here.
I will not play favorites.
The NEFA Board members have no diplomatic immunity.
Titan's atrocious spelling, grammar and sentence structure will not be subject to punishment. Public humiliation by emoticon is acceptable.

Well Steve I'm just a moderator for the Marketplace. I will only delete spam posts, useless posts by Guest or improper items for sale, items I think may be stolen or just shady stuff. I'm not going to delete much, I have only deleted one post that was a dumb post. That's all...I don't have admin rights and I wouldn't want that. Like I said Jeff is a BRAVE man!

Thanks Jeff and Tim, I have faith that the two of you will try to make this a better forum.
Just to be clear, Jeff. The recent threats made on here are not acceptable, or were they ok? I am trying to get an idea of what to expect. I see that they were not deleted and the offender not banned, so it is still in question, to me.
Again, these are questions that are meant as no slight to anyone, and thanks for answering them.

Alright, back to the topic...........
I've been getting loads of PM's about this whole admin thing and I thank you all for your sugggetions.
The "direction" that some other message boards have been brought up(the PGDA one in particular) and I'd just like to say that's DEFINITELY not the direction I was planning to take us. I travel around the DG forum world(my fav's folder for DG forums is 20+ deep) and I look to see what works and what doesn't. But we are ALL adults here and i think we're all on the same page as to the "image" we'd like to project.
As far as some of the changes/additions/movings that I've been suggesting, PLEASE tell me if I'm taking it too far..............don't worry, we can change it all back to same-ol'-same. The reverse gear in this truck still works.

If your referring to "sexual oriented material" We are not talking about "sexual acts" we were talking about the differences between a person anatomy or "sex" and a person gender.....other then that we all talked about a player that may/ or may not have broken the rules! seems that is basic stuff we discuss everyday and yes we attach names to them.....what about the "bad mouthing" of Dave F and his "cheating" when it comes to putts? should we remove that.....?
Ok fine you got me on the "any time any post" may be removed if they see fit....so why do we have a "sex or ace" thread? very valid question
I really thought the discussion was "clean" and all relevant to the future of Sports, Disc Golf and NEFA
yes some exchanges, some deletes, but overall the thread is fine.
Is Windchime a NEFA member yet? just wondering if I am being censored as a paying member and a non member is not.
Could you say that Windchimes post in the "ladies" thread is offensive?
some could argue windchimes was the one who popped this can of worms open...I am told to talk about this in private yet windchime can voice windchimes view at windchimes own freedom and then call people out about illegal activities.
Strange this is/was never really about windchime this is/was about the issue. windchime just brought it to our attention.

EDIT quotations
First off the rating may be skewed since sometimes females play from different tees and I believe the rating is not based from a female division. windchime admits he is playing in advanced female division so why no contact with NEFA officials and contact with PDGA officials...if there was prior communication I am not aware of that...and I should be as all Board members should be contacted regarding an issue of this magnitude. So it does seem like an don't like this word but can't really find a better one....not trying to be offensive "ambush"
Next the day before an Event is considered a "surprise" IMO. Having studied human psychology to a great extent I think that windchime believed that maybe something would be wrong with playing in the female division. Why else even post? I ask that for starters and yes I can ask that because windchime came to this site on the internet and on their own free will posted over the internet..Does windchime have to answer NO.
Now Gender Identity Disorder and transitioning...I have researched GIC to some extent over the past few days through countless avenues to better understand this situation at its "core". Another question...I truly can't find a solid answer to...Is GIC a mental health disorder, environment, or biological/dna issue? Sorry but I need some clarification to really understand this...
To speak about "transitioning" in its "core" is speaking in part about "genitals" personally when I first meet a Disc Golfer or anyone for that matter I don't even speak about issues regarding "genitals"
The issue with gender being different from sex is so open for discussion...it really is and no set standard world wide has been made. The LGBT had many confused and I mostly never on the course talk about those issues...well until Saturday. I am TALL I get gawked at my entire life but I still hear do you play Basketball or how tall are you....when I jump putt I look like a Giraffe getting shot by a dart gun... not my words but true....
If I truly felt I was a female then I would have just showed up played and moved on....
windchime openly says "I am not going to tell you what to say or think"
So why keep this hidden behind closed doors? If I was in this situation I would want to be the person who revolutionized transgender/sexual treatment in the Sport I so loved
I say again this boils down to "just disc golf" talk nothing more then that.
Hello y'all. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the May Madness, dragon, and borderland tournaments. This year I'm in the advanced women division with a pdga rating of 824. Hoping to make new friends and some plans to play in the future. I also wanted to give a heads up to any of you that read this (before we meet) about part of my status so there aren't any surprises. I have gender idenity disorder and I'm transitioning. I would prefer that everyone use feminine pronouns for me. I'm not a big fan of discussing LGBT topics. After years of people gawking and hearing "what are you?" type questions, you can understand its become a really tired subject. But I love talking about disc golf, beer, music, pets, environment, fungi, mary j, Buddhism, and whatever else. I'm not going to tell you what to say or think though. To each their own, right? I greatly appreciate your understanding.
I live in providence rhode island an go to Maine regularly to see my parents. So those are the areas I've played so far. id love to go play some new courses if there's anyone who wants to throw together.
Can't wait to see everyone out on the courses! Gotta go, gotta throw.

Not everyone wants to be in the limelight all the time. Being someone who revolutionizes somethings isn't what everyone wants and infact it can be frightening to some people.
Obviously, James knew that this would cause some drama, which is why he came on and posted. I really don't think he thought it was "wrong" per say, he just wanted to give everyone a chance to get over the initial shock and non understanding of what was going on and not get peppered with questions during a tournament.
No one really understands these types of disorders. There is no concrete answer if it's genetic, mental or environmental, so good luck figuring that out.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but I'm confident giving a little more time the correct decision will be made, whatever that may be.

The thread should not have been locked....no big deal it is unlocked....I do think next time an issue "does" need to be "timed out" it should be clear "what for" and "how long"
My issue was and is not with you Jeff....
I will not post what people send me in an Email or PM. I will summarize though
The reason I was/am upset is I was TOLD by our NEFA President.
That I caused/created the firestorm....not true I simply created a thread in a place that is a platform for discussing issues....
I was told my thread was/is disrespectful and was a personal attack on someone
I was told to NOT "Air things out in public" but keep this issue behind "closed doors"
I was told that JW may be asked to "remove the entire thread" from the NEFA site.
Soon after it was locked.....
I would at least expect a Statement of some sort from "The powers that be" even if it is "We have no comment" or "we need to look at the legal issues" and I thank Rob for doing so....
I do not believe the entire conversation needs to be behind "closed doors" members are still free to voice their ideas, topics, opinions
I waited to be addressed by the President being a Board member who would potentially be voting on this very issue for 72 hours after the the time it was first made an issue. I was the one who then had to address the board for suggestions, ideas, opinion, and solutions.
Some have replied...some have not. I feel WE the BOARD should have been addressed by the "President" to at least some extent but to not even approach all of the Board members is wrong.
And then scapegoat me....that was a "pop shot" Solbo.
Nuff said......I have work that needs to get done.
Have a great day
My issue was and is not with you Jeff....

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but I'm confident giving a little more time the correct decision will be made, whatever that may be.

I was unaware of the above red statement ant the time i locked the thread. In the future, maybe I should be included in certain "communications" that involve discussions on the message board. I think that would help me make more educated decisions as the moderator.
I made the decision to "time out" the thread after PMs, emails and a couple phone calls. It was my decision to make as the board moderator(or so the User Agreement says).
This job really SUCKS sometimes.

Did you fail to mention this to me in our last phone call or did it happen AFTER we talked?
Solbo NEVER discussed removing the thread with me.
It's funked up that I'm not included in the conversations that involve the message board i'm supposed to moderate.

Might have been sent before....but I did not read "may have JW remove the entire thread" until after we spoke.....last we spoke I was upset that I was being called disrespectful when I was trying my best and feel I accomplished to be respectful on certain sensitive areas of the issue. Seems there is more then one issue when it boils down to "fair play" that is the "issue"
If he was so offended enough to tell me I was offensive and to be quite....and mention it to be removed possibly then......yes He should have mentioned it to you.
It is funked up you were not in the loop...you put in hours after hours of volunteer time for DG...in general never mind what you do for NEFA......You should have been addressed when this first arose if the President suspected this would be an issue or when he felt it was an issue.....I guess they have not considered all angles of this.....
MY problem since Monday AM is nobody has been kept in the loop except for 2 people........

Re: Terms of Use Agreement
I've noticed that the "User Agreement" button is absent from the top of the page in this version of the message board............. HOWEVER, the first post in this thread still applies.

A necceesary addition to the rules:
When a person is banned from posting and attempts to re-register a new Login ID, the time limit of the ban will be INCREASED substantially. Their IP address will also be locked out for the length of the ban.
Joe gets a free pass from this rule because I never expected anyone to do it. Silly me for thinking THAT.
