2009-10 TC FINALS-April 10th-Maple Hill **RESULTS POSTED**

Post by Steve Solbo »

Hey everyone, we should start thinking about this now. We got few, few options in April.

Depending on place, I am sure that some people will want this on a Saturday or Sunday.. some to be able to travel home to still get to work.. some to be able to travel Saturday to get there for a Sunday Finals.

Here's the dates that look best to me.. First weekend in April. (AKA Easter Weekend) April 10th. April 11th (I know there's a potential conflict with Wick Tag Tourney). Or. Do we start getting into May... with only date I see being May 9th. Mother's Day.

What do people think, start circulating this amongst your team.

How in the heck is there a tourney FDR Fools Fest PDGA NEFA 2X and it is not even showing up on the tourney calender? Some people are trying to plan ahead and this obviously is not possible at this point. I'm guessing this is because 1. someone didn't send an email with all the specifics OR 2. someone hasn't paid NEFA dues. Someone please enlighten me?????

Unless I am wrong, we don't have any teams that are based close to Saratoga, NY. Couldn't we do sunday April 18th? Right now the only conflict is the Hyzer Creek Tourney.

alot of players go to that tourney and if I am not mistaken, I think we conflicted with Morgan last year, NOT gonna do it 2 years in a row.

So no, I won't consider that date, also, I would image that Capt. Lawrence, Cranbury and others will be attending that tourney... I believe Rob Tatro won AM 1 there last year?

is the Final location TBD by top A pool team as written in the rules?
There have been murmurings of Warwick....but I thought its TBD.

Perhaps next year we end in Feb and have Finals in March to avoid NEFA conflicts...

You won't consider it, or Todd?

And last year it was the day before the finals. I remember Rob still glowing the next day at Wick!!

Not precluding a tournament. We've had enough controversy with Ice Bowls and what not, I am not going to take 100+ players from potentially playing in Morgans tourney... it's not fair. And Chris, I bet Todd agrees, as well as most players on Capt. Lawrence, Cran, etc.. whom probably plan on going to that tourney.

Good idea, John.

Get rid of the 2-month span for a single neutral challenge. End it in February. Finals in March.

That two month span was deemed necessary due to conflicts with the busy holiday season. Bottom line is we can't please everybody. I think the best solution is to just submit finals just like any other tournament, but that's a discussion for next year.

I agree it's a long time, maybe now that we have more players it may be easier to field a team during that stretch. Ending in March would be far better it seems. We'll have a vote next year.

I like how some of the teams got together for a "scrimmage"

That would be a good way of killing the time between challenges.

It will have been almost 3 mos since our last challenge when we play next weekend

I think that is a great idea. Submit for a finals date before the season begins, that way no problems. The two month span helps greatly with the holiday season.

i agree with the 2 month span as well....
perhaps we double up a month.

you can submit to NEFA, but its not a NEFA event and a tournament should be given priority on a date, esp if its a Points event.

An earlier date, figured out ahead of time, is the best solution I believe.

but we can submit to be put on the calender. and then others will avoid the date most likely, knowing that 100 golfers or so will be at Finals and not at their tournament.

look at how many Non-NEFA events are already on the Calendar.

basically, I am saying, lets get in First..

I should be hearing back from the Town of Burlington very soon, within 5-7 days. It would only be part time, but I would welcome it, plus it minutes from that new course in over there.

Have been thinking about the best way to handle this and I think having a vote is the best. While I do agree we should try our best to not conflict with a tournament, unfortunately that can't be avoided sometimes. So Captains please PM me with the date your team would like to play. Here's a list of things going on in April, please let me know if I missed anything.

Potential Dates for Finals:

1. April 3: FDR Foolsfest
2. April 4: Easter
3. April 10:
4. April 11: Wick Tag Tourney
5. April 17: King of the Hill, Utopia Open
6. April 18: April Showers 5
7. April 24: NY State Champ, The Jack
8. April 25: FlatRock Surprise, Mighty Gaw

Also, it doesn't really matter if both pools play the same day, but I think it would be better if they do so nothing gets overlooked. However A and B pool votes will be counted separately.

The main problem with April, is the fact that we have MAJOR conflicts, due to alot of these events likely involving key players of certain teams.

Utopia Open.. obvious, that's out. FlatRock Surprise, if Tully Rock makes it, that's out, Mighty Gaw is being run by Capt Lawrence team member Sean Healy I believe, but obviously, that's out, NY State Champ, Capt Lawrence again, major conflicts, Wick Tag Tourney, obvious, FDR Foolsfest, Newman runs it...

Capt. Lawrence sure has an awful lot of conflicts, may not be able to avoid them all...

10th is looking like the best date..
