Matt you may be tied by a Charter Rule for that DATE.....there is already 2 events scheduled that weekend and 3 events in a weekend is a no go unless special permission is granted..not sure if the 2x Event would receive exclusive rights seems how the other 2 are already been scheduled

From the nefa points charter.....

. Double Points events have exclusivity for the day of the tournament, but not for the weekend. A separate-day single points event may be on the same weekend if TDs agree.
. There cannot be three or more points events on the same two-day weekend. Three Single Points events on a three-day weekend may be granted by the Points Committee, but only if no other solutions can be meet.

My question would be, both these events are on Saturday. What if the event was on the Sunday?

I believe...the way it is worded..one of the Events would have to be on Monday.....to have 3 in a weekend

It would be at da'grit.

OK, so it sounds like those dates won't work then. If what you say is true, then there probably is no weekend that would offer us the opportunity to run this event as a NEFA event.

9/11 9/12 will work

I also just noticed that the 5th is Barre non NEFA as of right now

so I would grab that date up......

12th is wide open..11th PDGA/nefa at Panthorn

Titan, you said in a previous post that 3 NEFA events in a weekend cannot happen. There are already two NEFA events scheduled for Saturday Sep 4. From what you posted before, a third NEFA event would not be allowed.

Sep 11-12 I am unable to run it.

true...I think that is why Barre has no sanction next to it.....

the only way 3 in one weekend is if one is on a Friday or Monday and if no other solution can be reached by TD's...

I really would love to see this happen.....what dates will work for you...? only the 4,5...?

Why, if there are two events on Saturday, can't we have one on Sunday?

Below is the schedule for NEFA events or other tournaments for the weekends starting the weekend after Vibram:

DnD Championships 8/21/2010 NEFA
Newton Hill 8/21/2010 NEFA

HCC Summer Winds 8/28/2010 NEFA
KDGA Points 8/28/2010 NEFA
PMC Doubles Charity Tournament & Silent Auction 8/28/2010

Battle of Saratoga 9/4/2010 NEFA
Burke View II 9/4/2010 NEFA
North Shore Classic V 9/4/2010
Barre Falls Open 9/5/2010

Get Ripped Wide Open 9/11/2010 Panthorn Park NEFA

Buffumville Dam Open XI 9/18/2010 NEFA
Player's Cup Regional Qualifier 9/19/2010
Village Open III 9/19/2010 NEFA

NH States (Hunt's Mean 18) 9/25/2010 NEFA

Every weekend has two NEFA events except for 9/11-9/12 and 9/25-9/26. I can't run the show on the 11-12 weekend. It wouldn't make sense to go up against NH States as this is such a popular tournament...however, that is pretty much the only option at this point.

I think you could swing the NH Sates Event weekend..if it isn't to close to your Fall Finale Event

last year NH filled quick...many people from CT came up....I think just to say they played it...

With the numbers of central MA golfers and NH players I think that Event will still fill regardless of any other Event

and being 2x RI, PDGA...and people seem to be more PDGA point whoring then NEFA pointing due too Worlds next year being so close..that will still be of high interest

Most that go to Rindge go for tradition...not points..or anything else but a good time IMO

I would think both would be sold out........actually I will bet at least 5 bucks 72 at each..

your call IMO if your willing to run it...then lets pop this on schedule ASAP...DG,NEFA,PDGA RI wow.....if RI doesn't have an event soon we may have to get them outta NEFA....that was a joke for those that have no sense of humor

Does the NEFA charter allow for refunds of sanctioning fees? If I send in money for this event and for whatever reason, it doesn't work out, do I get the money back? If no, then I will have to wait until I hear back from the town of charlestown on the decision.

Not going to happen!

So this is how all of this went down:

1. I contact the town to ask if a tournament could take place.
2. They send an enthusiastic response back to me that they would love it. They included TM Dyer on that email.
3. A few days later I get another email stating that after a walk through with TM, it is not advisable to have the tournament in September. However, if I really wanted to pull the permits and run the show, it could happen.
4. I was told that it would be discussed at the town parks meeting in July.
5. Ran into TM at the course and he proceeded to scream at me for not bringing this up with him first.

Guess what TM, the bad course design choices you have made will not make for a fun event. You put up mandatory poles on the course that don't make sense and make bad decisions about where players should tee off from. The main reason why I wanted to run a tournament without you, is so that those mistakes can be ignored and the local players can decide how to best play the course (which is done every day of the week during normal play).

6. I contacted the town today and promptly got an email back stating:

We will be conducting a tournament in the midwinter called the Frostbite Tournament and we will entertain a tournament in the Spring, summer or fall of 2011 for a seventeen or perhaps eighteen hole event from your organization. We are still working on the course now. I was out there today doing some sign building for the course to guide patrons around the first nine holes along with dog park signage. We have considerable amounts of cutting and grooming to do on the back nine, fifteen acres. WE have a major mosquito problem out there at the moment.

Jay

Good luck with ALL the work that has to be done...I will not be there to help out anymore, nor will I rally the troops for you.

SO, it looks like the RI 2x NEFA event will have to take place in 2011.

Looks like I will not ber going to the Frostbitten clASSic this year. Bah Humbug TM. What up with the tourney block? Playing the course and getting more people exposed to the course are great ways to build momentum. Now I am starting to see more clearly why RI disc golf is in its infancy comparatively.

Sorry to hear the news Meow. You have done some very productive things for Borderland. The course or the club would not be where it is at now without your selfless efforts.
