Any progress in these parts..remember reading that the city was really fighting DG there due to tree damage...?

Re: Brattleboro VT
I don't know where you read this from but there's no DG around here where we live.
The only progress here in Brattleboro is at Austine School for the Deaf. We're working on getting baskets if we do get good budget and grants then maybe set up during Fall but can't keep promise to make this happen. If it does happen and it won't be tough course but kids friendly course for them to learn to play.

Any promising pieces of land up there...(realistic for actually getting a DG course on..?)
Has anyone ever approached the "Powers that BE" in Brattleboro..?
I read an article from a VT paper (small local newspaper) talking about DG and actually referring to FlatRock DG as the "nearest" course to Brattleboro...I was in Southern NH getting a haircut is where I read the article..so it appears there is at least some interest in DG from that region....
I read somewhere else long ago about the trees being damaged and that was why no course.....
Make the basket fund raiser "public" I am sure if people donate to other courses to become a reality..I am sure a course at a school would go over real well...
You know you guys are always welcome at Tully...I just think that area could really use a course......your crew would also be a great start to a Brattleboro DG club......Let me know some land that you have been eyeballing..(I know you have spots in mind being a DGer we always have spots in mind...and I will hunt down some contact info and find out who we need to talk to on the cities end..unless that has already been done....
Let me know..we can get the ball somewhat rolling for the future

Re: Brattleboro VT
The nearest coarse to Brattleboro is Bennington , VT. I think Kurt Wagoner (sp?) is the contact for this little 9 holer. Bennington is about 30-45 minutes from Brattleboro (in VT that translates to "down the street"). I've played it a few times not much if any casual play or leagues going on at it. I agree that area is dying for some D.G.
Just for arguments sake I'm gonna say The Highlands of Conway is the closest coarse to the Brattleboro area.

DisCap is on that willow park job. We have a new local in hoosik falls that is in contact with the powers that be. There is eagle scout that we're working with to redo the existing 8 holes and add 1 more. With the bigger 18 hole course in the design. Hope to have the 9 holes done by end of fall and other 9 ASAP. Check out discap.net forums for workdays coming soon. I'm going to go out there this weekend to do a walk-through.

great news Kenji...I used to live in Bennington so I love the area.....Maybe a Nefa dubz event can be held there in Spring as the other event for VT...
I know where all the courses are near Brattlenoro..actually Mt Hermon school DG course is closest in Northfield..secret lil gem there....just really complicated contact info there...
I see no/lil room for expansion to the South of Tully....maybe improvements and I am sure those clubs are handling business
I want to get the link to the North bridged.....by spreading up from Tully/FR we have 2 pro shops and several sweet courses around here..time to head North

Titan:
I just went to Mt Hermon and guess what, I got kicked out because its private property. Man, It's biggest hidden gem because several baskets were freaking LONG.
Anyway, I talked to someone who works at Park and Recreation likes the idea of disc golf. We need to map out a course and proposal to the Brattleboro Board.

Re: Brattleboro VT
Psst...a new 9-hole (plus one Alt. tee) course are near complete!
It has two tees (A & B) per holes (except for #9 "Ace" hole and Alt. tee). Its mainly designed for Beginner to Advance players.
The best perks of this course is shooting across the pond to #3 hanging basket from the Alt. tee, walking through cherry tree forest, and seeing the views of Wantastiquet Mountain.
This course will need your feedbacks after playing two rounds of 9's (play B tee first and then A tee).
The location and additional information of the new 9-hole course will be posted soon!

There is a meeting in Keene NH at Elm street brewery Jan 25th 8pm in regards to DG course construction for their parks department..might be a good idea for your crew to show..get the brattleboro-keene connection rolling at the same time

Ok...for you all impatient people...
Done with the course layout on the map.
But can't figure out how to reduce photo size on this forum.
Tried to post photo and it came out huge to fill the whole page of the forum.
For now, here's the link to the map!!
Its awesome 9-hole course for all level of players who only need to carry three or four discs! Only two Innova baskets (one is originally from Rochester, NY!) and the rest are DGA's.
The ALT and #8A would be my favorite holes.
#2 Basket is placed in the middle of the former ski jump hill which you CANNOT afford to miss putt or watch your putter roll all the way down to the bottom of the hill.
#9 are similar to Tully's #3 but bit shorter and steeper. ACE HOLE!!
Will post up the hole distances and photos at DGCR soon!
Better now, Titan??

yes..TY Pat..I also have a #46 GMDC bag tag from Tully L&F
so is it open to public in future when complete?
also have you hooked up with the Keene crew as they are putting a course in very soon? and would be relevant to Bratt I would think

Re: Brattleboro VT
Okay, to answer questions to you all....
Yes, ALL baskets are in place. Some natural tees needs TLC and also needs to install Tee posts and signs (in the spring time).
#3A and #8A would be the longest holes (400'+) and both are Par 4's, its challenging to bomb slightly uphill at #3 into the woods and then its super-awesome to bomb slightly downhill at #8!! I got few birdies from #8A on good days. Birdies from #3A would be a rare treat!
IT IS NOW OPENS TO PUBLIC YEAR-ROUND ONLY ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS, DAWN TO DUSK.
Please park cars at parking lots next to the outdoor swimming pool area and walk toward the "Private Drive" and turn left onto walking trail and pass the old run down kiosk (will replace it with course map and info) to get to Tee #1B which is right off the trail, the #1A is behind it and uphill.
PLEASE NO SMOKING! PLEASE NO ILLEGAL DRUGS! PLEASE NO ALCOHOLS!
THIS COURSE IS PART OF PRIVATE SCHOOL PROPERTY!! PLEASE RESPECT IT!!
This course will be the site of the 1st Annual NEDDG Junior Championship in June 2012. It will involve few New England deaf schools to compete for their indiviual age-protected division trophies and school team trophy as well. Will need to seek sponsors for player's package and prizes.
Feel free to PM me or text me at 8022756492 or email me at DeafDiscGolfer(at)gmail.com to have a round or two at the course.
Cheers!!

Can't emphasize this enough........ it's KEY to getting the "roots" in place so that the powers that be will allow it to remain in place.

Chris, I also grew up in Bratt, until age 9..... Brook St, Terrace St; Tyler Street (G-parents; my Dad grew up there);
Great news Patrick on your course--please keep us posted. I would love to come play!
I will get back in touch with the folks at SIT. I have/had about 16-18 holes designed a year or so ago (no help or $$ from them, just permission--which was good enough for me), but I lost my contact there, some land was sold, blah blah blah. Basically, I dropped the ball. Will be picking it back up (this new resurgence from Keene, NH has me pumped!), and I will post what I find out. The potential is there, and it's convenient--just a few minutes off Exit 3.....IF it's a go, I just need a hand with promotion, some work days, getting $$ for baskets, etc.....
I guess I really hadn't checked all these forums until recently. Glad to know we can all keep in touch about this stuff, and network! Yea, Disc Golf in So VT/NH!!!
I'll keep you posted, and hope to see the Keene folks soon!!

Uh? Don't know anything about that.
But only know that it was been discussed WAY before I moved to VT. To my understanding, that deal fell through somehow.
Where's that CT river valley course anyway?
Actually, my next wishful DG course project would be creating a championship-caliber course in or around Brattleboro area.

I just checked out the CT River course--onliine--it is in Charlestown, NH...just up the road from me. I had heard rumors, and know people who've played there, but haven't played the course yet myself. I will try to get some contact info and post for y'all.
Patrick, let me know when the snow melts a bit. Would love to come play a round with you at Austine. Have you ever approached the 'powers that be' at the Memorial Park? I grew up skiing/skating/softball/swimming there....and have walked it with thoughts of throwing Big there somewhere....just wondered if it was a possibility. It would be right around the corner.....

I have done test throws at Memorial Park last year...its bit tricky to figure out the layouts, mainly the first three holes...two Baseball fields at the bottom of the hill and the side of the hill. There's some private property lines around the park. Brattleboro Recreation Department is all for it but need to see the proposals first.
I have also checked/tested out the Retreat trails property too...there's one nice huge open rolling fields...perfect for super long drives but noticed that there's some heavy wet spots here and there and don't know if they will cut the grasses during the summer.
